According to the Hot-Cold-Game not. I am more afraid or think it's more likely that Fullauto and Fatality will change (when following C1, the latter is confirmed) thus making Solo-Rambo-Pieces even worse compared to fireteams. But like I already said ... this are only my perceived problems, not sure if everyone has the same and indeed we have to wait till we see the whole picture before final judgement. It's just that everything I see isn't helping to "dissipate" my concerns.
I think full auto will become "BS attack(+1B), BS attack(-3)" or something like that. I also have some concerns, mine are more as "will all factions be treated the same way?". I am affraid that not all factions will get the same treatment, and some will be more deep touched, while others will only get not-so-thought changes and leave something to review in the future (and remain untouched until n5)
Hellois said that the hot-cold was HUGELY missunderstood, so dont treat that as rules writen in stone...
15 units max wtf Fuck off... I wasnt taking lists bigger than that very often. But i hate that the option is gone now -_-
We could fix the underlying problem in our game that makes expensive units not worth and spamming the way to go, or we could just apply another bandaid and just forbid people from playing certain playstyles... It seems N4 is gonna be another miss on the balance department
The change to a 15 model cap is no more arbitrary or restrictive as 10 model caps in a combat group. I'd posit that most 20 model lists that were spamming Taighas, cheap remotes, Kuang Shi, etc. that didn't open up new and interesting playstyles so much as feed order economy to each combat group's superstars. I'm in favor of this because it makes for more interesting decisions rather than every list tending towards a higher and higher order count and relying on lots of cheap troops with template weapons.
Yeah, I'm not excited about solving it by applying an artificial unit cap. I think that changes to crits - and possibly other things introduced in N4 - would already address balance between elite and horde playstyles, while leaving players with a choice. Though I didn't catch the details, was it described as a new universal rule, or just another option for running the tournament?
Basically Tactical Window is now the default for tournaments, with unrestricted combat groups being an option if TOs want it.
By the way, did I catch that right in the grenade example that the MOD for being attacked by a template and the MOD for having an enemy in your ZoC do not stack? They had the Gangbuster at -3 and not -6
Only one type of Impetuous, only forced to move towards closest enemy if they're in your ZoC, otherwise towards enemy DZ.
Ill wait for the full rules, but my first impression is quite negative about the 15 Orders. They really could just have shifted the balance more to expensive models.
The 15 order gap is great and not a option for official its events. Of course its a game so in your own world play what you like. At the end of the day the only way to 'balance' harder would have been to increase the cost of the offenders or make the expensive units extremely overpowered for cost. Simple truth is math is math and way more shots, orders and bodies is better than up skilled units. 15 models is reasonable...think of it as a fantasy football game or online 1st person shooter- real one not that fortnight stuff- there are limits. It makes sense in fluff, these are open battles they are covert operations, 20 grunts running around is not covert. As to limits intersting game play. Spam is never interesting. Different units and tactical challenges by facing lots of different types of units across the board is interesting. Finding a cheap slightly optimized profile and taking a lot of them is....bad game play. You still get 15 models, you can still have 2 or more combat groups, you can still spam orders with all the new extra order tricks. Now you just have to be thoughtful on your list, maybe take models that you would never have looked at and face some more challenges than expected.
