I love using the Anathematic. Once he gets up close to the enemy he is a powerhouse. This list is very spammy. The Pretas, Taigha, Ikadrones and Daturazi are great for deployment zone defence as well as clearing the midfield of skirmishers etc. The e drone is there to Provide support ware to the Q drone as well as gimping link teams through repeaters thrown by bit and kiss. I usually like to roll the anathematic out on turn 2 after hopefully dealing with most of my opponents long range aro pieces.
This list only has the Q drone for long range offence and it has to double as a defensive piece as well. Sometimes it is worth hiding it if you don't win the first turn roll or opt to go second. This is a large list and it can be hard to find enough real estate to hide everything behind during deployment but It's usually easy enough to shield your most important pieces from attack behind a wall of chain rifles, smoke grenade aro's and a couple of judicially placed mines.

    That's an interesting list!

Lot of heavy lifting in a few places... ;)

it was a list made for the fun factor of course, but nevertheless, he is such a good player that he beat me soundly with it, despite losing 2 ikadrons, 2 imetrons, the charontid and the r-drone quite rapidly. His stated aim was to sepsitorize specalists from the opponent, and then push buttons/do classifieds with them :D

Is the Lieutenant Hacker really the obvious go-to? I've never tried it, but it seems to have several weaknesses to me. With the Anathematic as lieutenant, you lose out on Hidden Deployment, which would, it seems to me, to be a very powerful ability on such a dangerous trooper. You also lose out on the extremely useful White Noise ability, that the Anathematic hacker lacks. Don't get me wrong, for button-pushing missions I definitely see the appeal of the Anathematic hacker, but if I want an extremely powerful hacker for hacking's sake, I'd rather take the Charontid, that has a Hacking Device+. The Anathematic hacker also loses out on the monofilament close combat weapon.

The Spitfire and the Sepsitor profiles look very appealing in less specialist-focused missions to me. Let's take Firefight - not only do you pack the game's most powerful direct template (the Sepsitor) while in marker state, you can also reload it using the Panoplies in that mission. The spitfire, meanwhile, gives a better range band and burst, plus a monofilament weapon in CC.

But my main question would boil down to this: Can't it be worth having another trooper as your lieutenant, just to get to keep that sweet hidden deployment for the Anathematic? I mean, as long as the Anathematic dies before your Lieutenant, provided that Lieutenant has a Cube, the G:Mnemonica will kick in anyway. Imagine leaving a tempting gap in your deployment zone for enemy airdrops, just to have the Anathematic hidden there, ready to fire away that Sepsitor.

I think a lot of players really overvalue hidden deployment. Either that, or I've just never gotten any good at using it effectively. Unless I'm going for a surprise ARO with a Noctifer missile launcher, I almost always find I get more benefit from having orders on the table than I do from having a hidden model.

I like the Anathematic Hacker Lieutenant because it's very easy to use - it can do pretty much anything the mission requires except win long-range gunfights, and that's not a big deal when it can use TO camo to get close. Putting down an S5 TO marker is also really fun, since your opponent immediately starts sweating trying to guess if it's an Anathematic or a Sphinx.

I find G: Mnemonica's loss of lieutenant prevention to be incredibly valuable, so I almost always prefer to have an Apsect as my lieutenant when playing vanilla CA. In N3 the Charontid got a huge buff by having a lieutenant option for basically every loadout; if the Anathematic and Skiavoro would get the same treatment, I would use their spitfire and sepsitor versions a lot more often.

Anathematic and Sphinx are S6, and sadly once you start moving 4-4 TO marker, it all becomes clear.

TO in DZ, beside what you already mentioned about surprise ARO, is a nice skill to have if you're afraid of getting alpha struck and losing your main heavy hitter. Other than that, I kinda agree with you. also missing 90~ points from the table is kinda a giveaway.

G: Mnemonica in my opinion is a good skill, although becomes to some degree less useful when moving closer to midfield, as jammers and assault hackers are a threat. Sure that high WIP helps resetting, but there's a risk of getting multiple AROs

    I meant S6 - I just typed the wrong number.

You're right about jammers - I've been fortunate that my local group didn't have too great a prevalence of them, but they definitely devalue mnemonica if they're a common element.

On the topic of jammers and AHD: do keep in mind TO cammo confers stealth, so you can at least navigate between them without fear (unless they ALSO have SS2)

Additionally, never forget your daturazi escorts :D I never take an aspect without at least 2 morat daturazi or krakots exactly to protect them from these kinds of threats.

Back on topic: I really echo everything Toadchild said about Mnemonica and TO. For me it's not a problem to just place a large marker down, and if you have the 2nd turn you can still deploy it hidden as long as you make sure to reveal it (declare any ZOC ARO in your opponent's last order) before your order count phase.
