Sure. So your guys can be everywhere instead. ;) This isn't a Hassassin thing, it's a government thing. Well, probably an everybody thing...
Agreed. They just want to be in control instead of having an unknown outside force be able to strike against them.
There's a significant chance that any thread isn't asking question on how to play X, Y or Z will turn into "But Hassassin fluff!" thread. Never change, folks :P (I mean, it's not like the original topic left us with much to discuss by now, but still)
I'm thinking about one or two. Give me some time. Dagestani / Uzbekistani chudu should do the trick. I couldf bring in a few others, but they'd be difficult to plug into the general "Haqq cultural legacy".
The finalized logo looks much better than the one previewed on Facebook a while back. Edit: Oh yeah, uploads don't work...
I'm wondering as to what does it mean. The old one, well, it screamed Arabic to me. From the get-go. The new one... so far, doesn't. Of course, I don't take to change enthusiatically in general, so please take this quality of myself into account. I was used to the original logo. This one is new, and I can't see any clear superiority over the old one in it.
I agree. It does not look Arabic to me either. I think the older logo was much better than this new one that is being pushed out.
It is actually a way of writing Arabic that is similar to ligatures in languages that use alphabets. You just connect some of the the abjad characters somewhat vertically rather than horizontally. There is some really cool calligraphy that uses it extensively, especially among Hui Muslim calligraphers in China. EDIT: An example of some Arabic calligraphy I have that plays funkily with orientation. Both say Salaam but one on the right is more conventional.
Apparently there's also a writing style that uses this "ladder writing" to save space and for speed (maybe?) rather than to make it look cool. It looks rather different from the examples above, though. I can frankly only make out letter "sin" in both of those examples. And it looks turned by different angles. The rest I can only guess :D So, anyway, what does new logo say?
Oh, mos def. It's usually just used for speed, ease, or space in everyday writing. I mostly write initial kafs laddered for that reason, or I would if I ever used a pen anymore. For what I posted, I just wanted to show how different Arabic can look from what people expect and are used to. Honestly, I don't hate the new logo and I appreciate the change but I wish they had gotten a little more creative and done something like a rosette design or something with more of a shape. Heck, if CB wanted to get really creative then it's not hard to get calligraphy to look hyper-modern or sci-fi by doing funky stuff in kufic script.
Wow. There are some great designs. Either way, wearing Haqq badge while going to some nerd convention isn't an extreme sport anymore at least.
Now I am thinking about to collect haqqislam miniatures. Thank you for the link. At least we can use something in some unofficial color schemes. New logo is fine, as for me. I just hope, it was wrote the right way. Now I just wish, they’ll rename khawarij unit. (It’s mostly dreams, I guess)
