Hi folks has it been ruled anywhere whether the shasvastii embryo state counts in missions such as Annihilation and Firefight since it isn’t clear in the rulebook “The Trooper counts as being in a non-Null state when computing Victory Points, and they do not count as Troopers eliminated by the enemy.”
Check the wiki, it's already been updated. https://infinitythewiki.com/index.php?title=Shasvastii-Embryo_State The Trooper counts as being in a non-Null state when computing Victory Points, and they do not count as Troopers eliminated by the enemy
That's just what the OP included in their post. It's not updated text. I think the question was if unconscious Shasvastii count at all for missions with kill points, such as Annihilation or Firefight. To which the answer appears to be "no".
I’m unsure how clear it is. Because it states they count as being in a non null state and not eliminated by the enemy. Which means in missions like Firefight, they are not eliminated, meaning they cannot be counted as killed? more am I missing something?
The confusing part is embryo is a Null state. But then contradicts itself by saying it is a non null state for VP computation, which in every mission besides Domination, is at the end of the game.
The state still “works like Unconscious” so it’s still going to have the feature “However, if the Wounds/STR Attribute falls below 0, the Trooper enters the Dead state.” There are a lot of situations where the difference between Unconscious (and embro) and Killed isn’t much more than the possibility of getting healed. But I think it’s a mistake to think of those states as “counts as killed”. The way the state is worded, in the embryo state: If a scenario is using victory points to track casualties, the embryo trooper isn’t one yet. If the scenario is tracking “Unconscious or Dead” troopers, the embryo trooper isn’t one yet. If a scenario is tracking the number of victory points worth of “non-Null” troopers (such as for determining who controls a board section), the embryo trooper’s points are still good. If a scenario would track the number of “non-Null” troopers in an area, the embryo trooper wouldn’t qualify. But I don’t think any official scenario has used “number of troopers”. Probably because the huge disadvantage expensive troopers would be in that scenario.
