Hey everyone, I've dabbled in Infinity over the last few years. Most recently I've stepped away from gaming in general for about a year and a half now. Looking to get back in to Infinity! What have I missed or where can i catchup on stuff?

    Welcome back!

Well, the big thing is a new edition of the game planned come out in August, all the currently in production factions will be updated off the bat, including a few like O-12, Invincible Army, etc might be entirely new to you. The out of production factions (Merovingia, Acontecimento, Vanilla Tohaa, Neoterra, Qapu Khaqi) should get updated rules by the end of the year.

April saw the release of Infinity Code One which is a beginner/simplified version of the new edition featuring reduced versions of PanO, Yu Jing, O-12,and Combined Army, the rules and Army Builder are available at https://infinitytheuniverse.com/ the new Operation: Kaldstrøm Battlebox works as an intro to both Code One and N4.

There was meant to be a seminar and early launch of N4 at Gen Con, but that's obviously not happening this year. Hopefully we'll get some videos around the same time though.

I'm in the same situation as you @HanYoLo But I'm wondering as this hobby is expensive and a little bit of a money pit, all the old minis I have look like they are still usable, but many of them have been recast. There's not going to be a problem deploying old models is there? What about the N3 books, it it better to just skip them completely at this point?

Books are almost always optional, the rules are on the wiki, profiles in the Army builder, and tournament missions are on PDF and the Comlog app.

The only book exclusive bits are the fluff, the campaign and Spec-Ops systems and missions in Daedalus' Fall, and some Dire Foes missions in Uprising.

Models can always be used. The official Infinity Tournament System rules on proxying are:

Is it mostly made of CB parts?

Is it on the right base size?

If yes to both then it's legal in an official tournament, outside of an ITS Event then anything goes!

Want to use a 1e Hospitaller as a Knight of Justice? Go for it. Use a 2e Azra'il as Riot Grrls? Sure. Fusiliers as Brawlers? A-OK. Just make it clear to your opponent what is what.

The story seems to be on Chapter 11, is there an archive of the previous chapters somewhere?

Maybe I'm using the wrong words. The ITS Competition packs look like they have collectibles and the latest one says season 11. Now I know the collectibles are what they are and are not really recoverable, but I was assuming there was some sort of story or missions that was associated with each chapter. Thought it might be fun to have access to that information.

Ah, I see what you mean.

An Infinity Tournament System (ITS) season lasts roughly a year, with each season culminating in the Interplanetario tournament in Vigo, Spain. Each year sees the global scores reset, a new mission pack, and a new tournament pack containing a new prize model.

Recent seasons have had a small degree of narrative, since they hired HellLois as ITS co-ordinator, each had a Narrative mission pack released which can be found here https://infinitythegame.com/resources/downloads under ITS > Narrative Events. There was no Narrative prior to TAGline, simply a tournament season.

Your best overview of the fluff so far is likely to come with the N4 book that goes on Preorder in August. The RPG by Modiphius (available in hardcover or PDF) also gives the best overview of the overall setting up until just before the Uprising/3rd Offensive/Daddy's Fall trilogy. N4 will expand the timeline to ~5 years after Daedalus' Fall.
