Hey all, Wanted to get your thoughts on how you're playing the best models in Starco - that's right, the Big Red Beauties (Beautiful Red Bastards?), the much-maligned but oh-so-gorgeous Mobile Brigada. I've found they're the most fun I get from Starco, even if they're not the best points value or the most optimized link. I've got a solid core link down that I love - HMG, Multi+LFT, BSG, Massacre BSG, and Dak. But what are you all running? And more importantly, what are you all running as support? Here's a few lists I've run and enjoyed. They do especially well in area control missions. My meta is very hacking-lite (lots of PanO, Ariadna, and Tohaa, so the total absence of hackers hasn't hurt me even with the HI link). Brigada are good in StarCo because Massacre adds an amazing amount of power and utility to a Core. Even with Grrls around imo. I've only Duo them with the Anaconda and it's cool but I haven't done it enough to say anything.
I've been considering a BSG LT + Missile Duo. I've been getting a lot of work out of Brawler and CSU duos in my games, and I like the idea of a HI template.
Anaconda Duo seems fun. I don't usually play TAGs but it seems like having a buddy along would help mitigate some common TAG issues. I'm curious, how would you use the ML/BSG duo? That's an odd combination of rangebands and low burst for both.
They'd have to be a Core fireteam consisting of two members for one thing (unlikely but possible... a lot of my lists dont have a core fireteam) since they dont have normal Duo in starco. BSG Brigada would be the LT - and its just for cheapness. if i can afford the multi+FT one I'd take that for sure, and it would mostly be to watch the back of the missile launcher while she does her thing - mostly in active turn only. :) Right now I use the brawler HRL for this, in a duo with a brawler LT. It's not all that strong really, but it puts out a lot of pressure and makes the enemy nervous/cautious. A brigada missile would be the same, but moreso (because missiles are scarier than rockets and HI are scarier than LI).
Ah, I gotcha. At that point why not make some list sacrifices for a third Brigada and at least benefit from the extra burst for the ML? As an aside, I like the Brawler HRL lot in a Haris both as a cheap template shooter and as a way to move specialists or Raoul upboard (although I much prefer Raoul as a drop troop). And in the role you're describing I think the low cost of the HRL would win out over the better ammo of the ML.
Yeah, I agree. the Brigada would likely be restricted to limited insertion. Re: what you said, I haven't had a HRL brawler haris with a specialist yet, as my third brawler has been my LT in most cases. It's tended to be LT + AHacker duo advancing up, and HRL hanging back.
I recommend trying the Brawler specialist/heavy weapon Haris out. Admittedly, when I use the Haris, it's most often MSR/Haris/Lt, but the option to use it as a forward link is nice, especially because you can hide your Lt in a Brigada link quite safely.
The availability and utility of Emily in StarCo makes cheap CoC a nice side-effect. With that already on your list, having the Multi/LFT Lt. becomes pretty economical for that extra order (or the BSG Lt if you're pinched for points). I use him as a suicide trooper, camo hunter, or Suppressive Fire turret. It's been pretty useful in my Limited Insertion lists so far.
Care to share what those lists look like? I'm curious to see what else fits in the list to make it work for LI.

It's not LI, but I've never been able to make an LI list around brigada that I've been happy with. Though I'd love to be able to fit an FO in here. I always end up missing that support group the cateran is invaluable for breaking pins, and taking HI/TAGs without KHD support is frankly a colossal mistake, and the bandit provides an incredibly useful attack piece to hit from angle separate from the main army. Drop the Warcor, then upgrade Massacre to a breaker combi or give the Clockmaker another zondbot. Loses some ARO protection but that makes the list fit LI. Personally I’d take another zondbot in this list because keeping a shotgun around in the link is very useful. @Tourniquet I really like that list and agree the Bandit is often essential.
