Hello ! That may may seems a weird question. In the reference guide, on the "Attack" paragraph, we have: "To resolve an Attack, make a Face to Face Roll. The Attacker uses the dice specified by their Attack, and the Defender uses the dice pictured in their Defense Attribute." But, at "Defender", we have: "When a Character is the Target of an Attack, they can make a Defense Roll against the active Character’s Attack Roll." This interrogation has appeared mainly because of Axl. To take advantage of "Footwork", he needs his target to makes . Can the target choose to not roll Defense or Brawl for avoiding Axl to have additional Displacements ?
I don't think so... I think everytime you have to throw dice you must do it... A face to face roll with just only one player throwing dice is not a face to face anymore lol.
You can't make a FtF roll if one player doesn't roll, right? Both Defense and Brawl are mandatory (respectively for Attacks and Disengages) :3 (also... That "can" stands for permission, not for option :3)
See this slightly related recent thread: https://forum.corvusbelli.com/threads/are-you-forced-to-inflict-damage-with-rolled.37133 Using your to inflict Damage isn't optional, and uses the equivalent wording. I strongly doubt that you can choose not to roll your dice.
Thank-you for your answers. That's the part that was unclear to me. And that could have been an interesting tactical choice to defend/brawl or not against an attack/dodge. Thanks again.
You're welcome. Please don't hesitate to ask more questions. Sometimes we'll be wrong, but then @-V- will correct us all.
