I wouldn't mind an acherontia model...but her lore is very straighfordward: an specialist heavy-hunter mobile brigada with a misile launcher, so I don't know how could be represented ruleswise. It would be nice for CoC or NCO, but seems that those kind of rules are forbiden for nomads, and CoC seems strange to me in that kind of character

SWC is not for maintenance, but for accesibility... that's why our "SWC reduction" is on a hackers...the problem is that it is only in 1 hacker, while we get several extra SWC to pay. I think that, if the extra tax were removed, that would make it easier for us to field some units.

about WB in TJC, I agree it should not be needed. A 3rd transductor is something basic IMO. CB tells that remotes are something special for nomads, but they keep limiting them. Maybe also pupetmasters could get a higher disp in TJC, and share the 3 pupets, so one PM is inaactive, while the others can do things, and if the inactive dies, the pupets go to another PM to control them, and so, similar to netrods but less efficient. That way, the easy-way-to-kill pupets is not so easy, TJC gets access to some cheap dudes, and some extra minelayers.

Agree: it's why I like Bran, Carlotta and Zoe as characters. They very much show off Nomads.

Honestly, a MB character is probably not what I'd want for CJC: my point is more that it's different.

A Wildcat would be where I'd look if I was going for a new CJC character: making them less faceless would be good for drawing out CJC's character. Something like No 2, Multi+LFT, EM Grenades, Veteran with an LT profile (under the assumption that CB don't give the CJC Lt No 2). Nothing spectacular: she'd be a strict upgrade profile. If I was going to give her something "new" it'd be an LGL.

If you were looking at an MB character (and assuming the Lt order + Fireteam interaction doesn't change) then LT and NCO on the same character is interesting. It's basically just "you can use the Lt order in a Fireteam" but that useful for a MB Lt. You could easily make her the "fills out the Core" profile: Breaker Combi, Chain Colt, Grenades, Tinbot A, Lt and NCO, oh and Zero G.* Gives AT, DTW, Spec Fire, Tinbot and order efficiency.

    * Although I'm going to be slightly put out if MB get 6-2 Move and no Zero G.

Re: TJC warbands. 3rd Transductor and make Puppets function like G:Servants and you get the "coverage" that warbands would give you.

That coupled with any changes that buff our combat REMs probably covers off on that weakness.

    Seriously read Peripheral (Servant).

    PERIPHERAL (PUPPET)
    AUTOMATIC SKILL
    Obligatory
    EFFECTS
► Peripherals are deployed on the game table at the same time as their Controller.
► Peripherals are always activated with the same Order as their Controller, executing the same Short Skills of the Order, or Entire Order, although they are not required to have the same target.
► If any of the game elements (Controller or Peripheral) cannot perform part of the Order or Entire Order declared by the Controller
and Peripherals, then they will be considered to have declared an Idle, while the other may act normally.
► AROs must choose one of the Troopers activated by the Order as their target.
► During the Reactive Turn, both the Controller and the Peripherals gain their own separate AROs. However, unless a specific rule says otherwise, any declared AROs must be the same for both the Controller and the Peripherals.
► In Close Combat, the rules described in the Close Combat with Multiple Troopers (see p. 49) must be applied.
► If the Controller enters any Null State, the Peripheral will enter the Disconnected State at the end of that Order.
► Peripherals with a point cost in their profile will count towards Victory Points, Zone of Operations control, etc. Remember that the
total cost of the Unit includes Peripherals and, therefore, the value of the Peripherals must be deducted to determine the itemized points of the Units.
► Only Troopers with the Puppetmaster Special Skill may have Peripherals (Puppet)
► There is no limit to the operating distance between the Trooper with Peripheral (Puppet) and their Controller.
► The Controller may have a maximum of three Peripherals (Puppet) under their control. In this case, they may only activate them one at a time, applying the previous conditions. Meanwhile, the otherPeripherals (Puppet) will be inactive.

I like that take in. I would only add that the specialist pheriperal can do specialist missions (That might be something only ITS related)

Yeah, Wildcat character would be also great. But I would rather give him some long range weapon they normaly dont have like blitzen or Akrylat cannone, maybe specialist operative and some chaep gun like SMG or red fury. I'm really interested in playing wildcats again if they get 4-4 move and slight point and swc discount. Maybe it will be possible to to play them or other MI links competitively in N4. Nomads are MI faction and we dont have MI fireteam that is good in N3.

Breaker MMR or Multi MMR both aren't unreasonable in Nomads.

But mainly I like the idea of a "solid support piece" that adds a lot of tool box abilities to the link. AT ability is pretty much a must for that.

I like the idea of AP MMRs for Intruders, but I'm not sold on needing them on Wildcats: I'd prefer allowing a Tsyklon + Wildcat link (replacing the Alg + Tsyklon option). So I think the range where they could do with an upgraded attack option is 16".

Re: Geckos. Only change I'd make is change them to be AP Combis.

Can we seriously not have any discussion about the faction that doesn't bring up that cancerous crutch of a rule (CoC)?

Anyway as for command and control skills the only one I can really see Nomads picking is NCO and it'd limited to a character or something similarly low AVA, and given that most of our characters multi role toolbox units (Like a lot of our flagship units, and it's something I'd be okay with) the combat application is going to be more limited than say NCO on a Mowang. Though a little more Veteran for some of our elite troops wouldn't be too far of a stretch to pick up in the faction.

What I'd much prefer to see is way more free agent to represent how nomads can reorganize freely and fluidly at a moments notice, and more number 2 for a similar reason.

Though all this probably belongs over in the N4 thread as opposed to here.

That's why I like NCO on a LT profile for Nomads. It's a cool way to say "this LT is supposed to be in an active link", so works for MB Lts which are kinda already shoe-horned into that role even if you didn't really want it.

there is a problem with skills like free agent. On units that need to have orders spent in them is not so needed because they will not move so much from group (unless things go really bad), they usually are not cheap so we could put several of them, and I don't see it in our aro pieces, neither in our remotes. Also, even if its cheap (IIRC is 1 point) it is even not used in some tournaments (LI ones). More than free agent (which is cool, but I don't see it as useful), what we should have are more wildcards and tactical awareness solo troopers, but that seems also somewat limited or banned for us, the same for NCO

I don't see any problem with CoC as a skill, but I know we will not have it anyway

If you cant use an LT order in side of a fire team in N4 that'll be a colossal oversight on their end.

You'd only want that in a Sectorial unless you were trying to be tricksy; LTs can already spend their order when solo and NCO does cost 2 extra points. Not as bad as some bloat abilities, but likely enough to cost you an FO upgrade or a Zondbot. For a Nomad Character I'd probably only be interested in a special Hellcat. C1 lets them be LT without breaking the army, and a Character's usual high-quality but short range armaments would be perfect on a very reliable Combat Jump platform. Only problem is that you can bet they'd sculpt it without the cool Hellcat helmet.

Free Agent on characters like Carlotta is kinda the ideal.

Same for any support pieces (Custodiers would be an easy option).

Which is a pity, cause a custom helmet would be super sweet.

I find it invaluable on the TM in higher order count lists. Being able to swap them in which ever CG has taken the least amount of casualties to constantly keep them combat effective for as long as it's alive is great.

Yeah. The problem is that there a few units left where that kind of thing is doable. Intruders could work, but they're already good enough not to need it.

Carlotta and Custodiers are the two obvious ones to me. That would give us an AD, a Hacker and a gun all able to benefit from Free Agent.

The other option would be one of our SK. Perhaps the Spektrs? It would make them feel different to the other TO SK that way.

Why not the Bandit? With a Name like that, he/she seems to be predetermined to ignore structures of command.

I was thinking spektrs, hellcats and maybe bandits.

It makes the first two feel more unique against their peers in other factions (especially considering I doubt AD5 is going to survive), and suits the rapid reaction/ strike elements the represent well.

And Bandits dont really care about the rest of the force is up to and just do Bandit things.

Personally I'm hoping that AD5 becomes Combat Jump (PH=15). Hellcats I think it is 'too perfect' (the only way to make it even more perfect would be on an Irregular AD). It's why I like it for Carlotta (makes her stand out) but not so much for Hellcats.

Bandits are a fair point. Certainly opens up a few more ways of using them.

There is no maintenance stat, it's represented by making them more accessible. The infrastructure around maintaining a TAG isn't as much for Geckos.
