Enemy trooper is in Targeted state. Friendly trooper declares Speculative Fire Pitcher attack against the enemy trooper. What happens?
umm i assume it would be the same as regular spec fire if your targeting the trooper with the pitcher? ive never had that scenario happen, i guess its the same but no damage/armor save at the end If a trooper in the Targeted state is chosen as the target of Speculative Fire, then the -6 MOD usually applied to that type of Attack is ignored. However, the +3 MOD is still applied.
Pitchers are Targetless so you don't need to have an enemy trooper as a target. You can just target a point on the table near them (they won't get an ARO unless the firer is in LOF / ZOC. nor a guts). The deployable repeater a pitcher fires is only deployable on the game table, not on an enemy trooper. It's not as explicit as perhaps it could be, but I think that means you can only fire the pitcher at the game table, and not at an enemy trooper, particularly since the game doesn't give you any rules for what to do if you do fire it at an enemy trooper.
i would say it would be placed base to base with the target without a guts as they took no damage. i would wait for someone more familiar with the rules. in my head its something like this is happening (timestamp fail 1:42) edit: suddenly hachiman taro appears seconds before i hit send XD
@Hachiman Taro I know that weapon has targetless-trait. You probably can use the weapon without it, right? Smoke grenades can target enemy models instead of ground? I also know that rules aren’t clearly written in this case. That’s why asked the question.
There are no rules to use the weapon without it, so I think no. You can't do things the rules where the rules don't tell you what to do.
Targetless. This weapon utilizes a Special Ammunition capable of firing without designating an enemy as a target. Can a weapon with this trait target enemies?
Part of Speculative Fire requires you to place the target inside the area of effect of the weapon you shoot. Pitchers do not have an area of effect, so you'd have to put the Pitcher's target right on top of the enemy Trooper. Thus, if you hit with the Pitcher, you will not be able to place it. All you'd accomplish is waste orders and Disposable counters. I do believe that a smoke grenade would be able to target an enemy trooper (or a Friendly Kuang Shi with an active Biolocator), as a Smoke Grenade is capable of affecting an enemy trooper.
I think Targetless works better if read to say that you must target a point on the table, rather than that you may. In any case, the Pitcher fundamentally doesn't work if you target an enemy model, since that does not result in a legal Deployable Repeater placement.
What happens when you miss? (which seems like it could happen frequently) I can't find any rules on scattering so I am guessing the repeater just falls inert?
