Guys, in the C1 rules "spotlight" can be used as an ARO attack now! If that carries to N4 then that's pretty big for us, right? GET THOSE PATHFINDERS AND SNIFFERS OUT THERE BOYS! ;-) Between that, the rumoured 4-4 for MI and paramedic not being -3 any more (Druze paramedic just got a lot more interesting with B2 Xvisor medijector!) ...As long as the Anaconda isn't a walking rubbish bin anymore then I couldn't be happier with these changes for DBS! :-)
I guess the 4-4 MOV will be the best deal we get so far. Since you can reset nearly all states now, I would not see a major impact in this. But in my games, this is often more a corner case or something to force AROs for mines. Getting the paramedic as a valid Doc-alternative on the other hand could be nice. In addition to this, the changed crit-mechanic values our high arm a bit more, what is nice, too. But we need to wait for more information about N4, I guess.
Yeah, I agree with DBS' repeater net it could be a good change in N4. Assuming no changes in N4, since it imposes a -3 to WIP for reset in addition to the +3 to hack, it is going to make it hard for hackable targets to move in DBS repeater coverage if they are Targeted. It's also just a straight up WIP check in Code One, so even the Brawler AHD can get it right some times. Also reactivity planting a +3 mod to hit on anything is going to allow fireteam AROs to be deadlier than ever. Just don't start counting chickens yet though, knowing this change without knowing all of the other changes coming in N4 means it could be less significant than it appears in the grand scheme. Edit: I for one will get much schadenfreude out of "hacking" Spotlight onto our Ariadnaian and Tohaa opponents. This change also looks really good for my TJC. :)
Spotlight doesn't wear off at they end of the turn any more, it has to be reset out of, so Spotlighting in the Reactive then bombarding with EM LGL or Clipper in your next active might well be a thing!
There are no guarantees that Targeted will still remove the -6 MOD for Speculative Fire. In fact, I'm personally hoping they'll remove that special interaction as it is particularly un-fun to play with or against extensive Speculative Fire.
At +3, -6 before range (ie likely to be +3 if you're doing it right) then it's still quite good. Allows them to look at giving FO a +3 range band so that it's not a good way to get your specialist killed. Offers an answer to strong ARO pieces: do you Guts Prone after being Targetted and get Spec Fired or do you stay standing and get beaten up in a FTF.
