What do we think about our newest Medium Infantry the Crusher? I will start by saying I like the last option, but not the first because irregular is not worth taking on a unit that will not be used every turn. The last one is good as a drop troop specialist, but the Delta already does that, and I dare say better. What does the rest of the O-12 community think about are new MI.
I'll copy what I wrote on the FB O-12 group: Crushers, on the other hand, are, so far, a dissapointment for me - jumpy one is worse than Delta (sure, gains one BS on a DTW/+6 weapon, but is prolly far more expensive), the mid-field one loses to the Gangbuster (I'm ofc speaking in terms of their possible N4 rules, not C1) and the last one (FD L1 / +4) seems to be the best out of all of them, yet still outshined in his role. HOWEVER, I think they are missing a skill - don't really know which one (maybe NWI? it doesn't seem to be in C1), as we do have quite a lot of skills present in N3 that all were translated to C1 (with the exception of Holoprojector, from what I've seen so far), but I think they'll be different in N4 The more I think about it, the more I think it'll be NWI tho - if shock disappears from SMGs, NWI with no shock immunity will become a much stronger combo than it is rn
It's basically a tiger soldier, one of the few units that YJ players don't complain about. So it cant be that bad. though given the name has demolitions in the name I expect the full versions to come with some useful stuff for making new and interestingly placed doors on buildings.
I think think all of the Code One profiles are so striped down that i won't make any judgments until i see their 'real' profile, (whenever that gets updated) I feel exactly the same about Casanova and the Psi-COps. So i hope the wait for their real stats isnt too long
I hope the psiCops have impersonation, kind of like Katherine has holoprojecter. The psiCops are information gatherers, so infiltration would make sense.
Crushers look feature complete to me. They're better optimized Tigers/Kaplan and have a somewhat unique role to play in vanilla in that they complement Gangbusters and Sirius AVA and fill a distinct role of their own in a coming sectorial that doesn't have Gangbusters. The AD4 profile is also a better Delta to put it bluntly, and only thing strange about it is that it's not its own unit. Psi-COps seem a bit weird. A sectorial will probably divine their purpose, but it wouldn't make sense to release an Impersonator for CodeOne and give it only Mimetism. I have a feeling that there's some other gear missing for them such as MadTraps or FastPandas.
Crushers are like Gangbuster's C1: useless because of rules stripping. Just wait for N4 to makes them interesting choices. the only problem is that I can assure there will be one in at least one of the booster pack announced, and it's kinda sad if that drop before N4 (but I think it don't, schedule is too tight).
How is a decently competent mimetic gunfighter with MSV1 that starts up to mid field useless? How is a decently competent mimetic gunfighter with Super-Jump climb+, HI level BS, and button pushing useless? Both cost the same as a Zuyong with the same gear, but that one doesn't start up field in any capacity
The Crusher doesn't have MSV 1 or climbing plus. I'm not sure what unit your talking about. The Crusher has to fight with other skirmishers with camo markers. The lost of a marker state is a significant negative. The gangbuster makes up for the lack of marker state by having madtraps which makes them great at area defense. They also have MSV1 and mimetism so they are pretty good at hunting down enemy camo units. Now what does the Crusher offer to make up for the lack of a marker state because I strongly suspect its missing some skill or equipment. If this is it then its rather lack luster. The AD profile is a Tiger like profile so its pretty great.
Yeah, that's meant to be Combat Jump, which is even more significant. MadTraps aren't in CodeOne. They're cheap. 2,5 isn't much for a competent mimetic Multi Rifle with an otherwise okay stat line. That starts up field. And can push buttons. Remember that this is supposed to be a main faction and hopefully not a hyper-focused slim faction like Tohaa where every unit aims at being unique and not step on any other unit's design space at all. We're probably going to get a Regular vs Fusilier situation or a Jujak vs Zuyong or Locust vs Näcken situation at some point. Who knows, Crushers might be in the sectorial that we're likely/hopefully getting this fall while Gangers may not be.
I used a Crusher Parachutist on Monday and they smashed it. Killed a Guilang Hacker and Ninja, tangled with a Tiger Soldier and Daofei before they went down. BS 13, a Shotgun and Mimetism is no joke, as any YJ player will tell you.
