Very few profiles in infinity are truly unplayable garbage. Agnes that came with Sval is a much worse unit than Boyg, as you are just paying 4 points for virtually nothing. But she still has some kind of a place if you desperately want a DTW and Wip 13. Boyg is much like that, sure he can be taken to the table, like a Teuton or many other units burried beneath almost identical but much better choices. The issue with these profiles is that they are not well designed, serve no role and conflict with better units. I could argue that he has a place if he does something nothing else in PanO or Sval does (and does it reasonably well). But he just doesn't offer anything to the sectorial or vanilla as things stand. What mostly bothers me tho is that it's an S5 HI that's generally worse than your standard PanO HI, there's no cool technology that makes me want to try him out, like AD or Hidden Deploy of some sort, or Albedo etc. He's just big for seemingly no fluff reason.
That's kinda what bugs me the most about him and the claim that we're the high tech faction. His claim to fame is essentially being fat and mobile which isnt really great. Most other factions boast a distinct advantage with their S5 where as ours is basically a suped up feuerbach or swc free spitfire with better dodge meanwhile other S5 are stealthy, 3 wounds, better arm, higher burst, mods or some combination of the above for about the same price points. Its uninspired for sure and seems to cater more the the forumites want of an S5 for PanO than an actual drive to design something interesting. It does have some applications, but it's not stellar.
The Bøyg feel very unimpressive, and worst of all not very much like somthing PanO would make. Looks the part but the rules does not imo. If PanO makes a S5 Hi they should have a very good reason to do so. And stats that are worse that what PanO has shown they can fit into a S2 frame and hyperdynamics + full auto does not feel the part. I think they should have played up the TANK part of the frame. Total immunity would fit right at home on it. and that would make it have a significant role to play in list building, and it would fit the tech route that is supposed to be PanO's forte. I would also like to see some special ammo on the MK12.
Well 3, for Lt shellgames. 4 if I want a spare for the link, already have enough Specialists and those 2 points will buy me something I really want. I'd agree 42 is more likely though. On the specific topic of Bulleteers in Pano. Found myself using them less and less ever since Dart was added to SAA and ZCs became a thing for Vanilla. I'm usually more than happy reinvest the 1 SWC into Minelayer Sensors or Helots instead.
Very many Profiles in Infinity are relative garbage though. With better optimized options (or Profiles with options to begin with) powercreeping on things like basic Mobile Brigada. Not every result of mix and match turns out equally well. Teutons are one of the examples. Neither their basic Profile nor the individual options are all that damning. Both together with their competition in Linkability though, that's a problem. Orcs became instantly a lot more relevant as soon as you could put them in LI Fireteams in Varuna, SAA and now Sval. Agnes and the Boyg just aren't up to speed (yet). Blame N3 and move on. CB had something better to do than retrofit them and that's fine. N4 will have to do better and I'll just repeat that it's pretty much guaranteed they'll at least try. The PanO salt mines are a vast place, we can find something else to complain about in the meantime.
horrible as the profile - nothing in this thing looks PanO except the shoulder and the gun it look like a fan made mini x_x
Or a semi successful experimental model combining captured Yu Jing power armours with voodootech allowing faster reactions (hyperdynamics). Which is actually the Bøýğ's fluff.
Um, you do know that nomads have only 4 units with BS 14. One is a character and the rest are tags. BS 14 is really really good.
Yeah, not going to spoil it, but the PanO scientists hiding on Svalarheima (with their mobile research center being guarded by the Vargar) were a bunch of very naughty girls and boys when they made the Bøyg...
Dodge (+3) and BS Attack (+1B) in Code One. The fluff in Kaldstrøm mentions them using interfacing the user's cube into the armour's control systems using voodootech derived methods, rather than the usual controls based around mimicking the user's movement or nerve impulses, which is highly experimental, exceptionally risky, and quite possibly illegal.
On the plus side Hyperdynamics/+3 to Dodge seems a very relevant now that it's also used to get rid of IMM-A. Dodge-6 is a lot easier to beat if at 55% than 40%. Which includes old Adhesive as well as Stun and Flash ammo.
