Well, between Omegas and Gammas being solid shooters and Betas being amazing specialists ( Also the third HI Doctors in the game so far, I think. ), all ot takes is some decent support options and good Lieutenants, both of which are also there.

They also get relatively easy access to both white noise and smoke which is very handy.

And some really decent ARO pieces that can double as specialists.

Only lacking thing would probably be HI/TAG variety, I suppose.

    So, this aged a bit.
Nevertheless armor theory is going to be pretty relevant for N4 and as it seems Sval. Major driving force being the crit change.

Arm5 linked ML and Jotum or Hospitaler Haris. Fun with C+ Orcs and the Boyg once we know what it actually will do.

Yeah, unless something else unknown to us changes, just from the few tidbits we know so far, high ARM might actually have a place now, as you can't circumvent it with a random crit anymore. T:

Which is great, because I love this kind of play style.

the basic principles here should still apply, there isnt too much that has changed. Im very happy to see that SWF is a sectorial that makes very good use of this primer if you really want to get the most out of it.

Honestly, at least looking at how the two new sectorials affect their own respective factions, I think the greatest positive impact hasn't come from the new HI/TAGs, but from all the new units:

Both factions were in great spots when it came to filling out the "massed armour" part. Now they got a bunch of new stuff to fill out everything outside that: new Engineer ( And Doctor for PanO ) options, new Minelayers, new Infowar support options, new Forward Deploying/Infiltrating units. The whole nine yards really.

Agreed. I was referring to the fact that my take on SWF is that it runs ARzm/HI heavy. You support them of course, but your big hitters are things like the ORC HMGS the KoJ (pick a profile) and the boyg. And then you have the sneaky ones like the hospitallers that add a unique dimension to the list

So yeah, I suppose in preliminary N3 SWF conclusions...

SWF didn't bring much in terms of new Heavy hitters:
Just a Boyg with a B2 ML that doesn't need to lug around a cumbersome fireteam or a 0 SWC FAT1 Spitfire.
And the KoJ, which looks like a Father Knight except with Assault swapped for MA2. It does have specialist profiles though, which is always nice to see on a combat-capable frame.

Nice things, but not many things.

But SWF did bring a metric ton of stuff in terms of ''supporting the heavy hitters'':
A new source of Engineers and a new source of Doctors ( Neither necessarily any better than what was already there, but ech, more options. Plus in a ten order list you can spare the extra expenses. )
Two new KHDs ( Nokken and new Locust one. ).
    Two new Minelayers.

Which is a nice many things.

    Which is overall... nice.

I disagree re heavy hitters. The army has access to a plethora of relatively cheap b5 weaponry and bs14/17.

Additionally its not just hard hitting but it is fast, with massive access to movement skills, such as super jump and climbing plus. Terrain will be little to no issie to SWF and their ability to strike at the opponent.

The thing with the new heavy hitters is this though:

The sectorial may have an abundance of movement skills on statistically competent gun platforms, but the majority of them lack durability ( The most durable of them is the Vargar, at 3/3 ARM/BTS Bioimmunity with a single wound. ). So whilst they do hit heavily and fast, they're not exactly able to tank that much back.

When it comes to heavy hitters that can tank a hit before going Null, we get two old mainstays ( The Orc and the Hospitaller, both solid but not new. ), the Boyg ( Locked into either being a one-man ML Haris or a 0 SWC FAT1 Spitfire. Both very valid, niche uses. Pretty great when you need them, but again, sorta niche. ) and the Knight of Justice ( Basically a Father Knight with MA that gets ridiculous link options. ). And only the Orc MULTI-Rifle and BSG get Climbing Plus profiles ( Although, I will note that the BSG C+ ORC looks like an interesting combination worth looking into. ).

I suppose I should have originally mentioned that I was referring to heavy hitters in a "Massed Armor" context, where they are stereotypically HI and/or TAGs.

I hardly call ORC HMGs "niche" they are and were the mainstay of this primer.

I must've either formatted my text poorly, or you misread. ORCs and Hospitallers I called ''solid, but not new.''
The Boyg is the one I called ''niche.''

On that note, what would be your guys' advice on 'massed armor' lists for SWF? I normally run Varuna lists with a 2 ORC + Patsy Haris and another ORC in a 5-man link, which serves me well so far. Svalarheima, however, is completely out of my comfort zone for the time being.

I'm hoping that super-jump can be used in be same Order as Move/Climbing+ in N4 as the WinterFor ORC/Vargr Haris looks a lot of fun.

I hope the climbing+ / super jump just add the appropriate flexibility to a normal move order. For example, if the model has 6” movement, then a MOV can move an inch, climb 4, then move another inch.

Could you provide more details on this one? Sounds really cool to me, I'd love to test this out in TTS

Fitting the Boyg in is a bit of a stretch if I want to keep a full suite of what I tend to look into in a list. but its doable if we drop down to a single combat group and sacrifice the pathfinders+fugazi+other bits and pieces
