With all due respect, but if you don't find Kuang Shi to be in poor taste then Gutier has probably failed. I think this large-scale fridging is a bit off tone with how things are meant to be grey scales and matches better if the faction logo had been a red skull so to speak. It's a bit... extremely overtly evil when that doesn't seem to be what they're trying to make Yu Jing or even ISS to be. But as much as I'd like us to be able to have this conversation, it's bordering some touchy topics, so let's avoid it?
Just because I like something in a game does not mean I would prefer it in real life. Evil exist's. It is used to build contrast, depth, and character to the universe. That is why I like it. I believe people/government's would do something like this. "it's bordering some touchy topics, so let's avoid it?" Sounds good to me.
They are not It is one of the most absurd new units, it not costing SWC for minelayer AND 2xpanzefaust is straight up broken
Yeah thought the same. When I saw the leaks for this unit I almost instantly put it on slightly below the Rui Shi / Bulleteer - tier of units. Specially with Guilang Repeaters and Daoying Hacker.
Strelok Minelayer in TAK costs 21 and 0.5 SWC This hell thing costs 20-0 or 25-0, runs 6-4, can get assisted fire and has 2 panzerfausts just because
Generally speaking the REMs normally end up with a discount in both SWC and points. When I look at its gear against a Rui Shi it comes out as overcosted when factoring in the lower BS and WIP stats and the usual SMG bullshit, but I did overlook the random +5-6 CC which might be the cause.
Yeah. The formula either clearly needs changes, or has to be abandoned and points costs have to be decided on a case to case basis. Not sure which would be better honestly: The former means nobody is getting any odd discounts for their guns and an HMG in one faction equals an HMG in the other and pricings become more intuitive to understand. But the latter could also add some potentially interesting balancing decisions, like making a faction more distinct from another thanks to having something a little bit cheaper, or making a unit distinct by ''Well, it has odd stats and what not... but that is a surprisingly cheap MSV2.''
The Long Ya gets to Surprise Attack someone and guarantee a successful E-Pulse on anyone under CC14. Then if you want, you can lay a mine to catch them when it wears off. Between that, the shock SMG ammo and heavy shotgun, Yu Jing literally made a war crime bot.
Just like IA I cannot see making a full Shang Ji core. Ever. It will be Jujak with one Shang Ji and a Tian, Then depending on mission Adil or Lei Gong. Then the Zhanshi with a minimum of Zhanshi. This looks like a good all-around link. JUJAK Breaker Combi Rifle, Heavy Flamethrower + TinBot B (Deflector L2) / Pistol, CC Weapon. (0.5 | 38) JUJAK Engineer Boarding Shotgun, Panzerfaust, D-Charges / Pistol, CC Weapon. (0 | 36) SHÀNG JÍ (Tactical Awareness) Heavy Rocket Launcher, Light Shotgun / Pistol, Shock CCW. (2 | 42) TIAN GǑU (1st Section) Hacker (Killer Hacking Device) Combi Rifle, Nanopulser / Pistol, CC Weapon. (0 | 23) LÉI GŌNG Shock Marksman Rifle, Nanopulser, Blitzen / Breaker Pistol, Knife. (0 | 34) 2.5 SWC | 173 Points Open in Infinity Army ZHANSHI (Forward Observer) Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 12) ZHANSHI Paramedic (MediKit) Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 13) SHÀNG JÍ (Tactical Awareness) Heavy Rocket Launcher, Light Shotgun / Pistol, Shock CCW. (2 | 42) TIAN GǑU (1st Section) Red Fury / Pistol, CC Weapon. (1 | 27) QIANG GĀO (Lieutenant L2) HMG, Nanopulser / 2 x Breaker Pistol, Knife. (1 | 43) 4 SWC | 137 Points Open in Infinity Army
Well... Strelok is 1 point better in everything except BS, ARM and W/STR. Even FD and Camo is better. REMs tend to be slightly cheaper than a infantry counterpart. I think the Strelok is highlighting not how insanely cheap the Long Ya is, but rather how relatively reasonably priced it is for a REM for once. I think above all else, the Long Ya fits well into the faction. It's in a gap that's not over-saturated and it's a profile that's not way over the top.
Long Ya and Tian Gou are even better when you consider that Yu Jing always struggled with variety of units priced between 20-30.
To be fair, after looking at this, I do seem to like the Shang Jis link potential more here than I did with IA. Not to say IAs links are any worse, just that the Shang Ji feels more comfortable here. It has a bit more of a defined niche when it isn't competing with another standard fighting HI units and/or wildcards. Here it's only really directly competing with an AVA 1 character and a fast DTW-toting HI that can only Duo or link with other Shang Jis. In IA it's butting heads with the Zuyong and is competing for room in fireteams with many other amazing Wildcards like the Haidao and Tai Sheng in addition to Qiang. Dare I say... the Shang Ji might actually have a home now? I just realized that we actually had a lack of those. That explains why filling out the last few units in lists have always been a headscratcher.
