To be fair, a slightly different Guijia by Yu Jing standards for TAGs is actually quite a bit. I suppose he can actually hide come to think of it.
Let's be realistic: we don't play the Guijia, I doubt we are gonna play the Blue Wolf. And I'd take a Tikbalang over them in a heartbeat. The only thing I'm hoping for the BW is a cool sculpt, but it's gonna be hard to top the Guijia in that front.
The Shang-Ji completely loses its Spitfire option but gained a HMG, and in IA as well, so he's backing off again in comparison with the Zuyong... until N4, I hope. I really like the rest, even if the prices are still at a rather high level. I absolutely love the Hundun, HRL without any range malus, for that price, looks very good to me. Can't wait to listbuild with those new toys!
Fair enough point there. A different Guijia is still a different Guijia AKA very very very generic TAG. That being said, I'm not exactly the smartest person around, so... yeah, I'm definitely going to try and haphazardly shove both into the same list.
I think Blue Wolf is excellent, especially if you need a TAG for a TAG mission. Courage lets him hold suppression way better than Guija and 5th dice is enough to make him playable and unique for a TAG. I know there are HRMC TAGs but they are ehh, while this guy hits things very well in 8-16. Shame that he, being a pumped up Su Jian (a lovechild of SuJian and Gamma?), misses his climibing plus. Bonus points for flavor/functionality on it being an effective high ARM hunter. Dont run two of them, hitch a specialist wildcard instead.

I think the White Banner is a very difficult army to assess. There are so many different and exotic profiles that aren't in your face but still good. I look forward to trying them. A liiiitle disappointed that the Guiland Boarding Shotgun didn't come with a new profile but it is what it is. Edit: I'm actually totally not impressed by Sval. Perhaps its just me but they have so many units starting in the DZ, which is a tough sell when they have no AD or Camo games, and their infiltrators are quite expensive. Perhaps I will be suprised.
Sval looks bad enough that I'm worried it is going to be difficult to split a Beyond box over here YIKES
I feel ever so slightly similar. I'm looking at Sval and it really doesn't come off as all that coherent to me. That said, most of the stuff does seem pretty great when looking at it from a Vanilla POV. Except for the Knights of Justice. I don't know how, but for once, an HI release has not left me so meh before, and I'm supposed to be the resident power armor junkie. Maybe I need to look at them longer, since ATM, especially in the context of all the other Knights, I barely have anything nice to say about that isn't the generic ''a BS14 Spitfire is a BS14 Spitfire'' or isn't ''well, at least they have some really nice ARM and BTS going for them.''
Looking at Tian Gou, I did not saw it at first sight but only 1st section profiles are wildcards. Meaning you can still have a Blue Wolf Duo with a KH or a Jammer, between the other wildcards we have.
Actually, speaking of the Tian Guos 2st Section... I just realized a really silly, probably highly impractical thing we can do in Vanilla alongside with Kanrens thanks to them: deploy a MadTrap Kanren in our DZ disguised as either of the 2st profiles OR have the Tian Guo 2st Section disguise as the opposite profile. And they're all priced nearly identically! ( Except for the Red Fury, but 1 SWC can be easy to disguise in YJ. ). I mean, it will be very obvious it's one of those three profiles... but which one is it? Do you wanna risk your Hackers to a potential WIP14 BTS3 KHD? What if it's actually the Red Fury moving upfield to project some 360 degree Suppressive Fire or just shoot stuff? What if all your effort avoiding either of those actually reveals you wasted it all trying to kill a random Kanren schmuck?
First impressions Tian Gou: WIP 14 Jammer? Yes please! Wildcard? Yes again! Holo 1 so you don’t know which one it is? Fantastic! The non-team ones with madtraps are also pretty good! Hundun: A little disappointed, MSV only on the SMR? The sniper kinda sucks. The HRL is a bit better I guess. Adil: I like him! A bit pricy but he comes with so much. Specialist, great shot, great CC, Veteran, Sensor is what does it for me. And Wildcard! Jing Quo: I again really like this guy! I strait up killer. Great shooting, great CC, duo with Monk to have smoke. Ye Mao: right away the Engineer makes me interested. Super Jump allows him to get to where he needs to be and MSV1 and Mimietisim is great. I wonder why they can only Haris. But at least they all have the skill. Daofei: a little disappointed they didn’t give them another specialist. Jujak: I don’t understand why they didn’t just give them their own core. So you can have 4 of them and one Shang Ji. Why not just have a core and Shang Ji can be in it? Otherwise they look great. Shang Ji: Well I should be used to disappointment. Blue Wolf: Let me get back to you on that. Yaofang: This looks awesome! A camo REM with minelayer and FD1? I’ll take it! Shaolin: I gotta say this is my most disappointing thing. Only a special duo fireteam with Jing. That sucks! I’ll still take them for sure but man! I was really hoping for something cool. Fireteams: Again a bit disappointing. Zhanshi suck by themselves, and Shang Ji are disappointing again. So only two core and two haris. Compared to PanO it’s a bit of a joke.

@Space Ranger considering that Liang Kai counts as a Shaolin for Fireteam purposes and isn't directly referenced by Jing Qo, nor has any way of forming a Fireteam with anyone other than Jing Qo, I think we can assume that there are rules technical issues that is preventing proper Fireteams for Shaolin in N3 (similar to lack of Hidden Deployment on Hundun)
