As far as I can tell: Unlimited power does not Target, so it would work on her aswell. Tactics from which Dart is protected thanks to ambush are those such as "Valkyrie's Cry". At least that's how I've always played it. [Crards as references]
Interesting reading. I would disagree, and we've always played that (and other, similar effects) as working against Ultimate Power. But this may be a case where the looser wording of the early Tactics means that they, RAW, bypass the effects of other, later and more precisely written, abilities and Tactics. I'd want a ruling from @-V- and possibly even a FAQ might be justified in this case (whichever way it goes).
Putting in my 2c This discussion is going in a similar route to the one about Axl's tactic Ultimate Power does not specify a target Ambush requires Dart to be the target of a tactic. Being the target of a Tactic and being affected by a Tactic are 2 different things. My conclusion (and I'm happy to be wrong): Dart is displaced when a rival hexxer plays Ultimate power
I don't disagree with your read on the conversation. And you may well be right. But I stand by my position for the moment.
I would have played it as being immune as well. Otherwise because the idea of UUUUUUNLIMITED POWAAAAA ;) I would say she can displace Dart. But still, I would have always played it that she is immune to tactics.
Valkyrie's Cry requires a target, so it would not work against Dart with Ambush. Unlimited Power doesn't requires a Target, and ambush requires you to be declare as target, so I think you could displace Dart this way... But it would not work against Gata's Quicksilver, as it specify "no enemy effect may displace, move or place Gata", she's protected even if she is not declare as a target. Neither it would displace Valkyrie, as Benediction of Thor protect her from "Enemy Effects" too.
The comparison to Quicksilver only solidifies, for me, the fact that this is an unintended rules interaction which comes out of the loose language of the "core 8" Tactics in comparison to the clearer and more specific language of the Tactics from later expansions.
Still an interesting question since I know a player in my meta who uses Dart very often and for scoring as well. :D So I guess we have to wait for an official ruling... @-V-
Around my neck of the woods that player is me. Ambush is the Tactic which I lean into for Dart to play as a secondary scorer (to make up for her sometimes lackluster performance as a striker and pitiful defense). Anything undermining that significantly impacts on the playability of the Aristo (in my mind).
Well, at last, I found this (forums didn't send me any warning). I'm afraid, hEXx3r can Displace Dart, as Unlimited Power does not take any Target, just apply its Effects. It's the same case as Valkyrie's Frostbite: You need one Target to get it declared and performed, but other Enemies aside from the Target will be imposed the Immobilized State as well (within Range) just because of the Effects (not being Targets at all). I know this is not ruling, but you can imagine Dart hiding behind any corner in the HexaDome, and then, hEXx3r releasing some kind of 'shock wave' through the HexaDome, displacing all the Enemies.
Could we launch a challenge of mini-stories for Aristeia? I really like the idea... and what you just described made me think about it. And Nomads' powaaaaaaaaa !!
I already started to write a short-story starting with a scene between Gata and Hexxer. Hope to finish it in a couple of weeks. However, podcast, league, own matches etc. take so much time.
