This weekend I have been feeling fairly distressed about list building
I wanted to go out of the box and have fun with my plays

And kind of came up with those two I wanted to try, with both not being fully optimised yet:

    Jurisdictional Command of Corregidor

    Jurisdictional Command of Tunguska

The common point between those two lists is the lack of support I can achieve: Engi / Doc / Hack
Reviewing the lists built in the "Tao of Tunkguska" thread, the op has no problem fielding a Sally without an engineer, a full MI/LI list without a doc.
Meanwhile I feel I can't have 2 Krizas without an Engineer to remove an isolation or Imm2 state (let alone a Gecko), and a doc to pick them up because it is only 14/17 points to get back 50+ on the field.

How wrong am I in my thought process?
What should I change to enable more eccentricity in my games?
How essential are those support units in your list building?

Doctors & Engineers are only useful if they can make it to their targets. For Tunguska, that basically means the target has to be in your DZ. Corregidor is a little more flexible having Tomcats.

I wouldn't consider an engineer important at all to back up a Kriza. It has PH14 and good BTS, so as long as you are careful you can escape trouble. The Kriza duo like you want to play is more troublesome, since nuking them with E/M or glue is that much more exciting, but it's still workable. You can drop the HMG back early on.

Anyway, if you're looking to doctor stuff like a Kriza, I think the best you can realistically do is a paramedic. Sometimes you can get that clutch doctor heal, but normally your opponent can prevent it. Doctors are for your Securitate Feuerbach/Grenzer ML and Clockmakers are for your Hollowman ML. It's not reasonable to ask them to reach the midfield to rescue your strikers.

While I like Doctors in missions where there are Zones of Operations that need dominating, I still typically don't take them unless they can be a part of a fireteam.

Though, I admit, they can also be useful for units like the Interventor or Puppetmster who are frequently assassination targets and can start close to the doc or zondbot.

The problem for me in TJC is you are already down orders when you need them and it's hard to efficiently use them and get what you need back up and the other stuff you need done in a turn, especially with TJC's lowish order counts.

The only time I feel an Clockmaker is an auto include in Tunguska is if I have Hollow Men. The 2W, Remote Presence, dropping prone on unconscious all combine to make them super likely to be able to be repaired and they are frequently in one general location. The Szally being manned, doesn't inspire the same need to me.

Your TJC list can easily afford to take the paramedic in the Securitate core. I like them as the default specialist in there and I find they aren't too bad for getting the Kriza back up.

If I have an Intruder (other than Lt.) I have a Daktari. If I have a Tsyklon I have a Clockmaker. I will usually have a Clockmaker for Geckos. Tomcat doctors can be useful for Hellcats with support weapons and I almost always take one with a Wildcat haris that has a spitfire. Tomcat engineers can be useful for Geckos or Tsyklons that have advanced. Every situation I mentioned here has had huge impact on games before, but not always.

There are few things better in this game than the look on your opponents face when you bring on a TC doctor to pick up mcmurder after they had finally put him down to go again.

and now they also have a LFT right in their face to deal with. Attack tomcats can do some damage, especially to fireteams.

That is how I mostly use them. Climbing+ and a combi can do a lot of damage too. Making it a doc gives you options.

I always seem to gravitate towards the engineer in the off chance I pull sabotage. Doing that card in 2 orders is so great lol.

Situationally some doctors and engineers can be very order efficient getting forward paired with helper bots IMHO - running forward towards a button that needs pushing (especially if they have a bonus for it), then healing with their second short skill a trooper who is far away through the g servant. Some are better at this (eg Avicenna or Sophotect with 6" first move and NWI in case they run into light combat) but many can exploit it in the right situation, especially if you have achieved board control. Beats idle / heal many times anyway.

Thanks everyone for the good pointers, I was really getting to a point where breaking out of my comfort zone was getting detrimental to my enjoyment.
Since picking TJC in ITS XI, I have been enjoying the luxury of a cloakmaker supporting my TR, HM Link, Puppets, since the synergy is that powerful.

I'll give the list1 a run at some point I guess and see how it plays out.
