Absolutely, I have a diverse collection of terrain, and still like to break out the cardboard of cb's various boxes regularly. Either to throw them in the mix or just pure. Its a great product for beginners

Warsenal is official so I knew them, but I'll also check out Skylabs. A lot of the problem is shipping costs too, which is why I'd think some stores could sell mats and stuff since they would be getting them along with other things rather than ordering a single mat or whatever. Customeeple has a neat board for orders along with neat custom order tokens, but shipping would be like $40 or so.
I know, niche hobby, blah blah, but geez it's a killer at times.

While I was there they had a board set up as a guy was playing YuJing vs CA. Game shops can certainly be great for playing in, but again I try to understand where they're making money in the process too.

I've got Wildfire and Coldfront, plus some other pack that I got early on, so plenty of buildings of various sorts. Was reading through Daedalus though with the rules for all the ITS items like consoles and whatever and looking for them and the prices were just uncomfortable. :)
I also got the Marvel NYC Terrain pack because I wanted a couple cars/ dumpsters to throw in the case for looks and Amazon had a "damaged box" one. Hopefully Kaldstrom has Wildfire like terrain, but even if it does I'm sure it'll have some winter base look to it that makes it clash just like the others.

But, either way, it just seems like a big barrier to getting started with N3/N4 if you have to track down where to get Tokens & Terrain from. I noticed in the video that tokens will be changing for some things in N4 (they show Camo), so I'll just wait a bit.

I think one of the other things with Code One might be reducing the number of tokens you'll need due to fewer conditions/ edge cases. Probably a smaller board too.

I spent the first two years playing the game using printed tokens, templates, and objectives downloaded off the CB site. Toadchild's marker sheet creator is also an excellent tool for starting players.

That sounds like it may have been Sean (who is the Warcor) and Jimmy. If the CA player was cursing because the Yu Jing payer was critting him, then it probably was. :D

@Vocenoctum I'm one of the locals at Hey Wanna Play (Sean and Jimmy aren't on the forums as often as I am). We (the local playerbase) provided several tables of terrain that the store allows us to keep there (the store didn't purchase it). We are 100% ok with mismatched tables! You do what you have to. But Sean, Jimmy, and I also have painted tables we bring for tournaments or bigger gaming days.

Shoot me a message when you'd like to get to Hey Wanna Play and get a game in around April or May (or Sean, @Maloc here, like @jfunkd said, he's our local Warcor and always happy to help out new players, but I do tend to be on the forum more often I think). WGC Infinity on Facebook is a good resource too and we can get you linked up with our South Florida Facebook group.

Yes we have two tables worth of terrain at Hey Wanna Play. Just ask for it when you go in to play.

And Yes I am the local warcor. we have a tourney coming up on the 14th of march and usually arrange games ad hoc in our chat. Causal players in south Florida number in the 20-30s. We have 5-10 who like to do events

Our FB group can be found here https://www.facebook.com/groups/246189332468676/

    @Vocenoctum

That was Jimmy and I playing. I was playing Yu jing. Please feel free to say hello next time... we are friendly I promise.

And our store makes money off the events (prizes in store credit) and product purchases. Our community is pretty good about buying through the store. Hey wanna play has been a great host for us. The Store in Palm beach was where I tried to get Infinity going back in 2017... they have not updated their website since then.

Sure, as I said I like to scout out to see what's out there since I haven't really been local shopping since I used to buy Battletech from PPF when they were on Oakland off of University. No sense bothering folks when it's a couple months before I'll do anything. :)

Yeah, the store (PPF palm beach) reminded me of a used bookstore, with an aisle or two of gaming stuff that really didn't feel ADA compliant. :) That said, I did get some random stuff and they had more games than most of the other stores around here overall, though Hey Wanna Play is the only Infinity stocker. Of course HWP doesn't price anything, so wasn't sure what the SoF box cost.

Either way, I'll get in touch in April probably! :)

Absolute nope. There doesn't seem to be any community of Infinity in Northern Ireland. I have two friends to play games with, but apart from that it there are more players around we are not aware of them! :-(

In all fairness Northern California is larger than many states on its own. I know the bay is pretty active with a few different regular play locations. I'm in Reno, far enough away to make it unlikely to get down for a regular weekday sadly.

Hey, another Seattle metro person! Are you hooked into the Emerald City Infinity FB group? (I think there's also a Discord?) I'm trying to find opportunities to meet and play with more folks in the local community, but with my schedule and family stuff it can be tricky to orchestrate.

Aren't some of the On TableTop (former Beasts of War) guys Infinity players? They're up there in Northern Ireland, if I recall correctly.

I always wonder why people complain about the nested rules. I don't think they are an issue. The problem is most often dependencies between rules like ARO in hacking area without LoF versus Stealth etc. Abd that you have no dedicated rules guy on the forum. People will still need to learn all the skills in N4, so if they didn't change much more it won't change much for new players if the skills are listed on your army sheet.

C1 could change this by reducing the rules. So I am more curious about C1 than about N4.

if you put enough effort and reinforce the cardboard packs from operation boxes, you'd be amazed how good and sturdy they are. @n21lv did wonders with those buildings, so they look great on the table and don't move too much due to added weights.

Because all skills will be listed now, so you don't need to learn that one note means 5 skills or whatnot. You will still need to learn the individual skills, but they will all be listed in the profile and with a value for those that affect a roll. So you don't need to remember that One thing gives you a certain bonus and also allows X, since it will list X and also list the bonus. I also like that they put the info on the token so you don't need to look things up as often. Maybe you're learning the same rules, but in a format that makes them easier to remember.

They also mention that they can now break the sub-skills out to give some units specific sub-skills rather than the entire big thing.

I'm also wondering how they'll change the # of units and the gameboard. I'm curious if the Operation/ Starter will get you a complete Code1 team with a complete game playable on a 3X3 or something. We'll see soon enough I guess! :)

I got some foam and shoved them in a couple buildings, though I also see a couple of the terrain guys make inserts for them. The foam doesn't add a lot of weight, but could probably just shove some big screws in it. Was also considering reinforcing the roof edges with some stiffer cardboard, but not sure how much effort I want to put into them if Kaldstrom comes with the better stuff. I know the boxes can fit in them, but I don't buy that many boxes to fill out the paper buildings I have.
Even the paper sets are just a start though and not enough to really fill a 4X4 though, so CB really should make a cheap way to fill a 4X4.

I was thinking similarly. Going 3x3' can also be less intimidating to new players. Less terrain means less $. Also, other skirmish games care 3x3' making it a little easier to use some of the other terrain.

Montreal: hard to say. On the Island i think its gotten stagnant, but south shore has gone up. The warcor on island retired and the group at that LGS is still there but less organized and less consistent. The new warcor is on the south shore and rotates between 3 stores (2 south shore). the south shore people are playing regularly.

A general FYI on Montreal. We are on an island and rush hour traffic on the bridges are terrible to the point no one will try and and do an evening game if it mean crossing a bridge. We've also seen a general gaming void in on island gaming stores that focus on minis. we have several which are card oriented, but only 1 that is accessible by our metro/subway system. The one gaming store on the island is very east and on the furthest metro stop. There was one fairly west that was metro accessible but it closed about 6 years ago. there is a LGS further west but not metro accessible but the communities are totally separate.

One pack by itself isn't enough, but 2-3 packs and 1-2 Salvora packs will be enough for a table at not a huge cost.
