Well, if someone truly believes the best course of action to repeat, at volume and ad nauseum, the same complaints, they’ve the agency to do so. I tend to see it more from your point of view, that they’re drowning out their legitimate and reasonable disappointment in white noise, but even so, they’ll do what they feel is best.
You know one thing that excite me? The Defiance will be a clear and complete example of Infinity ship design. We don't have a lot of these.
Is ship to ship combat ever touched on in the lore? I think it would be pretty cool to see a fleet of PanO war ships take on a combined assault before they can reach their destination
There is a Spaceships book in the works for the RPG. As of the latest update it's about 1 chapter complete, and behind Mercs (which is in layout) CombArmy (In approval) and TAGs and O-12 (pending approval)
I'd be sort of interested in how they work and if they can fight – the infinity universe doesn't seem very keen on laser weapons and a space-ship mounted combi rifle doesn't seem to make a lot of sense
But still a complete lack of underlying capabilities of Infinity "science". I fully understand the RPG element of not defining everything so players can do what they like. But the underlying elements of how the blockade actually functions isn't even there.
Missiles and railguns seem the obvious choices, most military Scifi I've read with similar tech levels have missiles and railguns as the main naval armament.
Unfortunately, the RPG book on ships isn't out yet. The core book has some background infos at best. Not a whole lot of art either.
The bits of lore I found regarding void combat comes from the 3rd offensive book and, if I recall correctly, from the rpg core book when explaining travelling in the sphere. Since I wans't yet in Infinity when Wotan happened, I don't know whether there were info in that background
It's really mostly a few ship sizes and travelling time. I don't remember anything regarding space combat in the RPG.
Railguns are one of the main tools, the fluff on the Dragão and the HRMC are that it's a miniaturized naval railgun.
That's because "blockades" in space don't really work, period. There's too many axes of movement to cover. You can blockade a dirtside surface port. Blockading a stellar object is infinitely harder to achieve. Like "Stealth" in space. Your best hope there is that no-one is looking at you.
Which is very like because you are small (even a large ship) and space is very big so the likelihood that someone is looking at you is very small.
Please tell me the volume of space covered by Infinity wormholes? Also do they light up a la Star Trek or have some other detectable signature of use? Is there a cycle rate by space magic or practical like getting out of the way? Probably need to know if there are required flight paths into and/or out. Velocity minimum and/or maximums?
