As the title suggests, how does one contemplate protecting penny with her extremely impetuous order? Obviously there's no smoke on the table, and (I thi k I'm right in saying) she has to move towards the closest enemy. 8-6 is great but not when you've had to move into the open... Or am I totally wrong here?
Even with extreme impetuous, you can spend a regular order from the combat group to cancel it. Regular impetuous is phenomenal, especially on a model with ODD. You can benefit from the extra order, but you don’t have to if it’s disadvantageous.
Except that you can't take cover (not that you could on a bike). You still want to have her use the order if possible, but if they set up to counter her and you cancel it you're at least forcing them to deploy against her.
She still needs protecting, though. A single mine or shock dtw will bring her down. She needs to make it to the backline alive to do her thing.
Don't hesitate to leave her bike behind, once you reached the enemy's deployment zone. Smaller silhouette, better dodge and able to go prone are advantages, she can use to survive the reactive turn...
Also, her bike is portable S4 cover. You can shoot-Move, dismount, bob out of totalcover, shoot, and move back into total cover of her own bike. And then can get back on it for free with her next move-shoot.
I tried to find that and took way too long. Why does "marker" direct to pitcher, and why is there no article about markers in the first place? Man, the wiki is a mess...
Pitchers were called Markers in N2 which is why the page redirects. The bit you're looking for is the Line of Fire rules: http://infinitythewiki.com/en/Line_of_Fire_(LoF) Unless otherwise indicated for specific purposes, Markers do not obstruct LoF.
But she can from total cover, and S4>S2 enough to at least one fireline. Its the part from markers that doesn't let her.
