I could say it up front. Spoiler Or via a longer path with lots of bumps. Spoiler Wasting clicks, to keep the appearance of something shorter. Extra layers cost time (or memory). Presentation matters, specially if obsessively confused / mixed with something else, like prettiness. So back to hacking: It's not everything, but it could be part of the improvements. IIRC it has been confirmed that skills that provide a bonus are just "actionX +3" instead of writing a rule "skillY L1: actionX gets a +3 bonus". In the case of hacking, it would depend on, among other things, how big the list is. If programs are reduced, maybe listing 4-5 things is better. If would also provide more freedom when "loading" programs, as already said.
Ha. I believe Carlos has already indicated that the number of programs have been reduced and the range of targets increased in some manner. I'm unsure by my memory indicates that the various devices themselves were eliminated? If the devices and their fixed suites are gone then obviously all we are left with is a list of programs. If it looks like the system used for UPGRADE: X then it may be an awfully cluttered profile entry. Unless a "hacker" has been reduced to only a couple of programs in total. I have to flip to my page 3 regardless. :D
Not sure either. Same about weapons, ammo or "wrapped" skills (lots of rumors and wishlisthing, sure) . Only one I remember is Dodge +3, so for (some?) skills it seems to be happening.
I think another one was changing ODD to mimetism+ or something? But if my memory serves, they didn't say they were getting rid of all of the hacking devices, just some of them.
They have said they are reducing the number of devices, not removing all but one. I think it's fair to expect DHDs to be removed, and it'll be interesting to see if EVO remains. Wouldn't surprise me if AHD disappeared as well, but we'll see.
Many of the programs are redundent in purpose such as Basilisk just being an improved version of Gotcha! That is where I'd look for trimming items. There are also a lot of gadgets, most will probably be dropped. I would move towards a set of highly dedicated hacking devices instead of things like the generic HD, HD+, EIHD, etc One possible set is KHD, AHD, DHD. Three with distict purposes which represent different specialties, but not the only way to do it.
Hello! I just drop here a bit of information regarding CodeOne that could be interesting for you: At the launch of CodeOne only 4 vanilla armies will be available: PanOceania, Yu Jing, O-12 and Combined Army.
"Interesting" is a funny way to spin "utter disappointment I won't be able to play Code One for unforseeable future despite owning Tohaa, Ariadna, Haqq".
Anything you can share about the pace of rollout for the other factions before the doom & gloom crowd get into full swing?
It's not like there is a huge chance of 'mini-Infinity' becoming something more interesting than just a way to learn the game for the new players.
That's extremely disappointing. I had split the coldfront box with a friend, and while I've been able to get regular games, he hasn't. I was hoping I'd be able to get a quick game in CodeOne with him in april, but apparently that isn't even going to be possible. Completely kills my enthusiasm for the rule set.
So, only 2 of the 10 or so regular players in our club will have something to play when Code One drops? A timeline for the next rounds of updates would be welcome.
As a question (not just for you), is there a particular reason regulars would want to dial back to the (new) intro ruleset?
My local was planning on it for a variety of reasons. We do not have a large group that plays even infrequently right now, but have had a number of people dabble over the years or head over to something more streamlined. We also have a new game store opening up any week right now so when C1 was announced for Adepticon timing we were excited to start planning on a push to build back up and potentially add new players in the excitement of the new store. Even if it only gets regular play at a C1 basis that is far potentially more people to play with than the 3-4 we have right now in a system we enjoy and are invested in. Perhaps we can get some of those players to build up to full scale too, but that is more of a hope than a plan.
I mean, we can technically proxy, but this seems like either CB are not ready on time, again (supported by three months of delays in the Defiance KS as well) and/or that CB look at it as a chance to force people to buy those 4 factions for a limited time. Not happening.
Calm down. It's probably much more likely that they pushed up the release of C1 to match the new Battlebox and figured that adding in Wildfire wasn't going to be too hard to do.
