In this thread I will collect reports about my tournament games. This is meant to be my personal archive to reread and learn from the errors I made and the factors that gave my opponent an advantage and that I´d like to address. I´m a beginner and only play Steel Phalanx (with Bronze in the colouring scheme, hence the title). Please feel free to comment, any hint or help from those weathered veterans out there is highly appreciated.

    Game 1: Infinity Season 9 @ TTRC (300pts. 12 participants) - Round 1 - Safe Area - Druze

I played my "shooty list": 10 troopers, 2 Myrmidon link teams plus Drakios, 1 Devabot and a Netrod. This list peformed well in training. The low Specialist count make this difficult in button pushing, but effective in shooty missions. I deployed first and rather carefully to avoid surprises. I expected Infiltrators. This was not necessary, but posed no real disadvantage. My opponent placed a WarCore on a roof on my right wing, so my first order was Phoenix, shooting him to a gruesome death. Next order was getting my Myrmidon link on te right flank to move ahead. I overlooked an SML-Dronbot (linked) and lost my Chain Rifle Myrmidon from that team. Great... Phoenix was then assigned to deal with this Bot which put him into NWI. Drakios moved towards a roof. That was it.
My opponent then moved a Druze in B2B with a Console, which didn´t matter, as his was no specialist. Scarface bean to move on my left wing which forced me to deploy some smoke.
In my second turn Phoenix finally won the rocketing match against the well positioned SML-Bot (in cover) which was really dense. Drakios arrived on the roof and went into SF. Both teams (left & right) advanced towards their respective consoles. The left team was about to face Scarface.
Drakios was then snipered away. I forgot that SF only has very limited range. *sigh*. Phoenix was also eliminated from a roof, but Eudoros avenged him immediately and the rest of that team continued to cover the right wing. Scarface moved ahead and pushed hard on one the left console which allowed my left tem to dodge its way from cover to cover and through some smoke (ODDs are a blessing).
I then used COs to move Machaon, the Myrmidon Officer and the Hacker into B2B with the left console and the Spitfire Myrmidon went into SF behind some crates, which prevented my opponent´s hacker to move ahead.
My opponent then tried to bring Cordelia to the well protected console using a kamikazi run by Scarface. Under normal circumstances this is a scray thought, but with a link team of Myrmidons in SF, this is bearable. He took my hacker with him, before being gunned down.
The result was a 5:4 win: equal number of areas dominated, but that console was mine. First tournament win and the day was already succesful.

    Game 2: Infinity Season 9 @ TTRC (300pts. 12 participants) - Round 2 - Looting and Sabotaging - Haqqislam

I played my specialist list with more orders and lots of hackers. The table allowed me to place Atalanta on a rooftop and the Myrmidon hacker right next to her (her chain smoking girl friend...). Tarik Mansuri at a building´s corner and an Al Fasid on a roof acroos the table were well in target and therefore in check. I felt quite safe. But when a Husan Yabir showed up and circumvented the sniper spot, I was to learn, why the soft stuff in the middle requires thorough protection. With Holo-Emitter, Smoke and superior CC-capabilities, he destroyed my EVO-HackerProbot, a Netrod, a Daleth, my SML and a Devabot in my DZ, before Atalanta finally got a chance to get rid of him. That was really frustrating. Now I could get into action: Lamedh went ahead on the left wing, placing a Sniffer near the Panoply there (no effect, the Daleth was about to be destroyed, soon) and discovered an enemy hacker with rummaging through the other Panoply. My Ekdromos Hacker was supposed to take care of him, which failed miserably, when he was AROed out of the sky... Atalanta diespatched off the Al Fasid and scored a nonlethal hit on Tarik Mansuri, making sure he wouldn´t risk to put his head out again. Thamyris advanced and pitchered a repeater close to the enemy hacker, allowing Scylla to Maestro him into the land of dreams (that would have been the better plan in the first place instead of the Ekdromos plot). Machaon and a Thorakitai Engineer then plundered one crate and Thamyris the other giving me a 5:4 win. I cursed a lot when I saw one trooper eating up all my toys and gadgets in my DZ. Really frustrating, but very well played. I learned a lot about IMM2 and the shenanigans it can create. This was the perfect operator against my list and all my troopers there faced in the wrond dirtion for this attack. It was painful to watch and I have to pay real espect to my opponent for pulling this off without remorse!
Well, tis was my second win and I already wondered, was was about to happen here. I was about to end up with more wins than losses in this tournament.

    Game 3: Infinity Season 9 @ TTRC (300pts. 12 participants) - Round 3 - Unmasking - Aleph

Specialis list again. This game was determined by the results of our dice rolls. My results were quite unremarkable, but my opponent failed at (nearly) every dice roll he made. He landed a Netrod, but that was about it. It was a desaster. All his Infiltration rolls failed, so his Killer Hacker and his Sniper were placed somewhere more or ess irrelevant. I hacked Achilles easily after approaching with a Lamedh and even disabled the Yudbot that ran to his help. Atalanta was on a two story building (again with her chain-smoking Myrmidon Hacker comrade). My opponent scored a hit on Machaon, but payed for it with a Garuda (gunned down by a Daleth on Overclock). He identified the Designated Target (at the expense of his Myrmidon Officer, who killed my Thamyris in the run for the console.) and tried a desperate shot at it, but missed. As a result, Atalanta took down the Sophotect from behind. I SatLocked an FO, but 3 or 4 Guided Missiles only triggered his NWI. Not really spectacular. I identified my Designated Target in the second try and used my DataTracker to shoot it down. I even managed to take back the Console he had and scored a 9:0. That was not my merit, but my opponent´s dice are clearly to blame for this. Not a single dodge or reset worked. Atalanta also shot his Killer Hacker and his sniper only had one fire lane that I had to avoid. I only lost Thamyris, a Devabot and a Lamedh, that was it.
That gave me 3 wins in this tournament and a second place. Woohoo! First larger tournament (we used a tournament code we had lying arounf for a 5 player weekend tournament earlier) and I made a Trophy! I was shellshocked.
Must have been the excellence of the Bronze Phalanx.
