well if he's better at dodging than his Phys would have you believe. that kinematika can help get into cover when dodging. even dodging out of hacking areas. it isn't only for dodge to engage.
Initial thoughts (from an Onyx perspective): +1 WIP over "normal" Nexuses is good for a KH, but we (probably) don't get an Lt. option for him to leverage it beyond that. Cheaper SWC, more points that B&K... totally worth it for linkable plasma rifle. I don't see many lists taking both, though. Legate is still useful for supportware and CC. Hyper-D and Kinematica are kind of wasted on this profile when linked. Makes me want a Nexus Haris to go with my (wishlisted) Maakrep Haris. Potentially quite good at getting him into position as lone wolf, though... dodging on 15's for 3". Bioimmunity is wonderful on a 1W model that's aggressive like this. I like it. Seems like a toolkit troop that loses some of it's value one way or another depending on whether you link it or not: If you link it with Unidrons, you will likely not take advantage of at least 2 skills he has... If you don't link it, you are passing up that sweet sweet BS 15 B 4 plasma and a potential +3 BTS... Perhaps it's best to link him with Rodoks, then? He's 1 more point than the Combi Rodok with a much better weapon for that range band. BSG Rodok can take enemies within 8". SWC Rodok can take anything beyond Plasma Rifle range. I dunno, just spitballing here, but I think my first use of this guy will be in an aggressive Rodok link.
Let's see: Tinbot applies a -3 to enemy hacking attempts... and you get a K1 combi for heavy enemies (wounds always at 50% if the enemy is in cover, 65% if not...). You lose Cybermask if you link him, period. Unidron Core: Legate Spitfire (NWI, mimetism...)+ Unidron Tinbot K1 + 2 FO Unidrons + Kerr-Nau (D-charges!)... Good luck for enemy hackers to get at this Unidrons. And 3 specialists inside an agressive fireteam... I think they can do any secondary objective but the Medic ones...
I always get that one mixed up! Legate Spit vs Nexus Spit vs Unidron Spit in that link... hmmm I'll have to look into that a bit more.
From vanilla CA perspective - I'm kind of glad that I haven't bought B&K yet, because Kerr-nau is almost like overpowered as all hell, there's just a LOAD of very useful skills and equipment, which is in my opinion VERY uncommon for CA units that are not priced at about a TAG level, and that's with 0 SWC KHD. WITH A WHITE NOISE slapped on it. like, seriously, there's just so much good stuff on it and stats are pretty decent, while B&K has only a syncrocised REM with ADHL and deployable repeaters going for them, and chepaer point cost. Sure, a throwaway ARO bot is good, but between R-drones and Ikadrones we already have so much repeaters all over the deployment zone. Oh, and Kerr-nau can actually shoot PROPERLY, to say the least, even without a fireteam he's SOOOO good for his points even just as a choice of plasma-rifle. Or you can just take B&K and Kerr-nau with E-drone and malignos AHD/legate HD+ and make plying transmission matrix a pain for your opponent... unless there's ariadna or tohaa of course. So I'm already in a 'shut up and take my money' mode.
both Kerr-Nau and B&K are really well priced. you could conceivably coordinated order a MAESTRO attack on someone with the two of them
Assuming you've got an E-Drone (you should!) and Kiss is dead. ;) I see a lot of "Kerr-Nau invalidates B&K". No way man... she's got RIDICULOUS repeater coverage. She drops one at deployment to buff your bots so your Ikadrons can move up and hold zones and set shit on fire. She lets Kiss benefit from Cybermask so you can get a cool Surprise Shot from an ADHL. She's GREAT. Kerr-Nau is GREAT. I'll often take both. Neither are overly expensive.
ah yes, totally forgot - even if Kiss! is dead, I think Bit will be inelligible for coordinated orders
My understanding is that if Kiss is dead, out of ZOC or otherwise disconnected, Bit can participate in coordinated orders.
To be fair, the unidron link in Onyx was severely under-powered, so they really needed this Kerr guy to boost them back up to viability
Just remember that pitchers have limited ammo (2) so you'll need an Ikadron nearby for reloads after every salvo if you're doing it from within a fireteam. Still, its an alternative to Bit and Kiss (though I'd probably take both). You could hang back in a fireteam with an Ikadron next door, lobbing pitchers into the midfield to get good hacking coverage, before starting to advance up.
I've found two pitchers to be plenty providing they land, added in with the faithful R-Drone you get a lot of mileage. :)
Kerr Nau plus Bit and Kiss? And you're probably taking another hacker for Assisted Fire? Three hackers?
I regularly run 4 hacker lists if I can get away with it in the scenario. I'm pretty certain Onyx is the best infoware faction now. They don't have those BTS 9 hackers, but they have enough repeators to make those BTS 9 hackers regret showing up.
Been writing lists for Briscon today, Kerr-Nau is in every single one, and some of them have three hackers (2 KHD, 1 HD) because the repeater net coverage is just that good now (and I'm less worried about enemy KHDs when ours are so good).
