Hey all! Apologies if there's already a ton of threads like this though I couldn't immediately see any with a quick search backwards. I have decided to go for Haqq as my 'New Year, New Army' project. I may have gotten excited at how cool the minis look and bought an excessive amount all at once - something that I'm sure has never happened before! I'm now musing colour schemes. I might go for the classic desert camo style, but I'm curious if you all have schemes I might steal ... uh ... look at for inspiration!
For me the main reasons to start Haqq was the beautiful minis and the atmosphere of the army - desert wastelands with red rocks. So I'm painting my soldiers in rather "traditional" color scheme, weathered and experienced, with some distinctive colors for different units, like warning yellow on Naffatuns, camo on Infiltrators, or tiger-scheme on Kasyms bike ;) Here you can see an example of my infiltrators: Farzan Al'Hawwa PozdRawiam / Greetings
Great color scheme - they look like have derserted to the enemy PanO [emoji848] Gesendet von meinem ANE-LX1 mit Tapatalk
Sooo... my painting skills are not the best, but I figured I might as well share my first Haqq mini :)
@Nasca @Golem2God I'm happy you like it - I use Vallejo mahogany brown as a base, then mix in citadel cadian fleshtone to add broad highlights, then more fleshtone for thinner highlights, and finally mix in some ivory for the final highlight. Then wash it with Citadel Reikland fleshshade. Honestly, I've moved towards using contrast cygor brown mixed with contrast medium over an ivory base. The results are the same to my eye, but so much simpler.
Starting my Haqq off as Dashat meant I went with a Yu Jing orange, but I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. :)
This came at a great time. I have been playing Haqq for a long while and I have a mind to strip the red from them all for something else.
I've been doing a lot more work on these guys - though I'm somewhat happy with most of them, I'm considering replacing the darker blue/green areas with a bright white/ivory. Might do a test on one of my Govads to see how that looks as an alternative. Also with the extreme closeup there are obviously some areas I really need to neaten! https://imgur.com/a/5UZpsGO
