    Disclaimer: I maybe should have replied to the Sticky conversation above but this is my take on how to get a bunch of Americans to get a close approximation to Yu Jing names.

    So I started playing Infinity about a year ago and always wanted to play as a Chinese hacking army. But as I spent a few years slamming my head into learning Mandarin I've been trying to help others pronounce the Chinese names. But there are a few problems: Most names are in Mandarin, but they are written in two equally difficult methods of writing Chinese as English, either PinYin or Wade-Giles. Then there is a Cantonese name and a Korean one to throw in the mix. Then we have the special Kuang Shi I'll get to at the very end.

    I got a native Mandarin speaker, myself (taught by mostly Beijing speakers so I have a regional accent that will show to other native speakers), and someone who speaks English with no previous exposure to Chinese. We took a stab at writing things down until the non-Chinese speaker sounded acceptable to the native speaker (From Shanghai). We also went to a native Cantonese and native Korean speaker to get their take on the appropriate words.

    Notes: These are english words/sounds but if a letter appears in parenthesis it's just the soft sound of that letter attached to beginning or end of the entire english word/sound so h makes the sound like hungry, g makes the sound like gown, d like down. If the word has a hyphen it's still one word with two syllables and "eh" is the sound Arthur "Fonzie" Arthurelli or Canadians make. Double letters just make the hard sound EE is like seen. ZZ is the sound of a bee but real quick. So here is the list:

    Yu Jing = You Jean(g)
    Bao = Bow
    Chayi Yaokong = Chaw Yee Yow Cone(g)
    Daofei = Dow Fey
    Daoying = Dow Yeeng
    Gui Feng Xi Zhuang = (g)Way Fung She Jew-on(g)
    Guijia = (g)Way Jee-ya
    Guilang = (g)Way Lee on(g)
    Hac Tao = hack doe
    Haidao = High Dow
    Hsien = She on
    Hulang = Who long
    Husong Yaokong = Who Sewn(g) Yow cone(g)
    Kanren = Con-ren
    Lei Gong = Lay Gone(g)
    Liu Xing = Leo Sheen(g)
    Mowang = (m)Whoa Wong
    Qiang Gao = Chee on(g) Gow
    Shang Ji = Shawn(g) Jee
    Shaolin = Shao Lean
    Son-Bae Yaokong = Sown Bay Yow Cone(g)
    Su-Jian = Sue Jee-on
    Sun Tze = Soon zz (yep, just buzz like a bee real quick)
    Tai Sheng = Tie Shun(g)
    Weibing Yaokong = Way Bing Yow cone(g)
    Wu Ming = Woo Mean(g)
    Yan Huo = Yawn (h)Woah
    Yaopu Panguling = Yow Poo Pong goo ling
    Yaoxie Lu Duan = Yow She-eh Lou (d)wan
    Yaoxie RuiShi = Yow She-eh Roowie Sure
    Yaozao = Yow Zaow
    Zhanshi = John Sure
    Zhanshi Yisheng = John Sure EE Shung
    Zhanying = John Yeeng
    Zhencha = Jen cha
    Zuyong = Zoo Yawn(g)

    Kuang Shi = This is crazy, the written way should be said (g)Wong Sure because it appears to be written in wade giles, but the character, which means “Zombie” is Jee-on(g) Sure. As long as you say “Shi” as Sure you’ll get credit.

    Funny story: I'm sure people are familiar, but the Cantonese speaker was quite put off by the combo for Hac Dao and accused the Mandarin speaker of trying to make fun of Cantonese. Once we convinced her it wasn't the case she gave us the way she would say it and made our test subject say it too.
