I'm not a fan at all. Both models look like they have been put together by spare parts that haven't been scaled to the same size.
Personally, I find his hands strange. I mean, from the second image, we can see that the back of his hand is as big as the head.... beside that I like is aspect: a la hostage situation supervisor/negotiator. Regarding the protector, I had no idea of what is was going to look like but it can be noticed that is made in the same style of the Karkata from aleph, a nice tieback. As per their profile, I can't say anything as a new player who has yet to play a game but from the little I understood from the rules I (most probably) shall use him as Lieutenant
I like them all, apart from the arms on the robot. I'm considering replacing them with Hollow Men or Dakini bits, personally.
I do like it, but maybe more scifi looking lenses, like something integrated in a helmet, the backpack or a shoulder mount would have been a bit more appealing to me. What I don't like is having to move those two models on the same base, but that's more a problem about Guardian skill. I wish they changed it for something like "a unit formed by two models which always have to be in b2b contact"
This was a poor concept. The Alpha looks like a regular Kappa /w hat and so far O-12's robots are not scratching my rule of cool; this has me really worried about Zeta and I'm getting deja vu of the Uhlan hype disappointment. I'll be looking to proxy for sure.
People were disappointed with the Uhlan? It's lovely IMO. Also the mini is perhaps let down next to the others because is it painted by Angel?
I'm not a big fan of this tbh. Comments regarding scale, and 'Kappa with a hat' feel accurate; plus the robot's arms look like they have 2 elbow joints? Doesn't achieve the aesthetic of 0-12 supposedly having the most advanced tech in the sphere for me. Reminds me more of some guy out bird-watching with his Chappie lookalike. I would've preferred something more closely aligned with the look of the Siriusbot. But I seem to remember reading some mixed reviews on that aesthetic as well, so I may be in the minority there. I'm quite new to the game, and understand that proxying is quite accepted within the community and even tournaments? What might people suggest as a worthy proxy for this? Or now that it's been released is it best to go with the official model?
Well for me the details are nice but it was the posing I was not expecting, the disappointment was probably more of my own perception and less a widespread gripe. I like the Sirius bot a lot but the hands/paws/claws look awkward and where is the Riotstopper on the model? I think if CB would have borrowed a few elements from the sirius, the bodyguard (beta-trooper?) would have been much better IMO.
well for me i got quite alot of kappas (x9), ganbuster or a shukra consultant and daki remote mk2 combi sculpts i could build a new base for. probably a cool matching proxy that sort of fits would be andromada
Just looked it up - that’s a little more to my liking actually. Could try to paint it up in my chosen colour scheme (main armour in white; raised plating in midnight blue; hexamesh in yellow-to-orange glow) to tie in with the rest of my 0-12
Siriusbot would've made an excellent Guard and Alpha's Giard would've made a good Siriusbot (if it were changed to S2) Two obvious S2 models in a S4 - not a fan, nor do I like the skinny shooter-style look of this thing that supposedly makes the Alpha into one of the highest performing CC units in the game. [2014]Ludonarrative dissonance![/2014]
I kinda love it, but i probably will replace the bot with Andromeda's and get a second beta out of that I like that he really fits the image of "the guy in charge"
That's a really clever idea, I should do that too (I'm lurking at Andromeda's companion for too long since the Alpha unit was revealed in august).
I love it, specifically because of the hat, and because my head cannon tells me that the robot uses the shotgun like a club when enemies get close. I kind of feel like the Alpha Lt. is being depicted like Lieutenant Gorman from Aliens, and has been on 50 simulated combat missions, but only 2 actual ones, including the one he's on right now, so he's going to stay safely in the back, issuing questionable commands, hidden behind the biggest building he can find, and possibly under a conveniently placed car. Alpha Chain of Command is clearly Gorman after sustaining a head injury, because, by god, he's a specialist now and is going to go out there and kill some things and get some stuff done.
I don´t like it. All that stands for the (in my opinion not needed) guard skill is not shown with this two models. Its just two S2 minis on a base for S4. It looks like they hurried the release and were out of ideas. Bot minis for themself are good, no question, but they do not represent what they are ruleswise.
I'm not a fan of the multiple S2 on S4 bases. The slight height difference is very irritating. Otherwise I think I'm in the minority. Cause I really like the Alpha overall. I got few nits picks here and there.(mostly his baseball cap.) But I really like his shotgun wielding Dakini friend. ( Kinda imagining the robot is like a CC version of the betatroopers on bodyguard duty)
