Wow, you really threw down on that order! Did I miss what your plans were to make the duplicate buildings look different from each other?
The first few I am just changing small details and the signs. For the sushi corners I am going to make one have only closed windows and the other only have the counters. After that I think I will start switching out the roofs, doors, walkways, latters and railings with the other buildings. I was originally going to try and make big differences, but I figured cookie cutter housing made sense. Depending on how I feel I might try to make one of each a 3 story building.
I completed 3 more buildings. I took a picture with the last ones so you can see the differences. I really wish the details were on printed on both sides so you could invert everything.
Here are the two Sushi Corners. With these 2 it looks like the cutting tool didn't line up correctly. It is really noticeable on the frame around the counter and on the left side of the window. I will probably just add a rust color there to hide it.
For these next few I started cutting and doing more to change them. The suburb I switched the lower half and traded windows with the yellow building. The Yellow one I switch the back door to the front and the front door to the side. If you look at the side with the door where the two pieces meet you can see a jagged line. I cut where the line was on the panel, but the print was slightly off so it didn't line up. Next time I will use the new piece to line up the cut. The Star Motel I switched the top have front to back. I also added the top vents from the Yellow building.
For funsies I tested the black Friday code on the Plast Craft website and it still works! Soooo I have 2 shopping centers, 4 armories, 2 Star Motels and 2 bridges coming.
I bought some planters, flowers and trees. They are in the mail now. I was wondering how many to do as bushes, flower beds and trees?
How many to do? Until you're tired of making them. I ran the numbers once and came up with something like 80 pieces of scatter 'needed' for Infinity tables.
Touche' I should have been more specific. I bought one of each of those sets. Of those how many should I make as each. I also printed details that match the Plast Craft stuff to cover planters and benches. I also finished one of the Armory buildings. I switched the front and back. I also left off the Billboard. I next one I am going to switch the back wall with one of the side walls. I also put together one of the bridge and stairway sets. I aleardy had one set so I switched the Torii parts to the other bridge. The next set I think I am going to put one Torii on each. I am also thinking of a way to change the stairs... Any ideas on those?
Ah, gotcha. I'd do the biggest trees as singles, the smaller trees in sets. Plant some flowers around the bases of the trees (though that seems to be more of a western thing than Japanese). You have what, 12 total planter boxes right now? You're going to want more. I'd do those hexagonal planters as flowers and/or small trees/bushes, the round ones as bigger trees. Looking good! Not sure about the stairs, but it's really looking good!
I do have 12 planters and I already want more. I was leaning toward round with trees and hexes with bush/flowers. Thank you! I wonder if I could make one a L shape... I'm thinking cut the T at the joint and find a support and maybe add the extra stairs to the other one. I finished another Armory. I need to paint my streets, but that is huge and daunting.
Here is the next Star Motel. I switch the doors from the top and bottom. I am not sure how much I like the door on top. I might change that to a window at some point. I like being able to hide in the bottom door though!
I completed the last set of bridges and stairs. I did put the torii in the middle of each of the bridges. I made both sets of the stairs L's. I am pleased with how they turned out!
I completed another Armory. I moved the window and put the latter on the back. I didn't realize how blurry the picture was!
Plast Craft cancelled my order for the Shopping centres. They said they are out of stock. BOO! So I placed an order on eBay. I should get those by Thursday according to eBay.
I just got my 3 Shopping centers. I ordered 2 more from Miniature Market. I also got another armory and Yellow building. I also got 2 of the Torii, Shrine Gate and Pergola. I think that is all I am going to get building wise for this table. Now to paint the roads and get more scatter terrain! Now that I have it all ordered I can tell you the bad news! Plast Craft said they were discontinuing the Shopping Centre. I asked about the rest of the line, but I didn't get a response. If anyone wants any they should buy them up while they still can!!!!!
I made a Torii, Pergola, and the Shopping Centre. I have a question about the Torii and Pergola. Since they are made for another game they don't have the grittiness of the other terrain. Should I gritty them up or would they have been better maintained since they have religious meaning? On a side note I really need to clean my table!
