Just wondering if many take them anymore. Some don't have the option but if you have the option but forgo them for a KHD. So I thought the best thing to do is a poll.

To be fair, I would take one if my opponent wasn't hell bent on bringing a TO KHD nearly every game, since I do find them useful. But if I'm already in the position of needing to take a KHD to defend my AHD, then what am I spending the points of the AHD on that I can't use for something else to do a similar job (take on HI).

I'll generally take one if I can embed them with a tinbot in at least a 4-man fireteam so they get SSl2 and -3 or -6 against them, but pretty rarely outside of that unless they're in a faction that can lock down the hacking game pretty universally like Tunguska.

Even then, in most factions I don't know if their use is really worth their price and risk of them dying to a Redrum from behind a building. At least circumstantially in my tiny meta, KHDs reign supreme and their proliferation has just made it harder to justify a hacker other than cheap regular HDs to buff bots and KHDs because they're just so good and cheap.

I think most people would take more AHDs if there wasn't such a glut of cheap, justifiable specialists that can instagib them with a few lines of code behind a wall. But hey that's why KHD's came into being in the first place to safeguard heavy units and let them have a little more breathing room.

Heavily influenced by the faction you play and the available profiles.

I nearly always take the AHD Mk2 Post-Human proxy when playing ALEPH.

I nearly always take the KHD Ninja when playing YJ.

Otherwise, all of my lists include a regular HD or a HD+.

AHD doesn't get much value in our meta, we rarely see TAGs, so I tend to stick with the cheaper profile.

I'd assume an ALEPH player would take one fairly regularly... I mean, a WIP 15, NWI, AHD with Lightning for 28/0.5 seems pretty good...

Lately I've been taking one of each AHD, KHD and HD in my vanilla Haqq lists. That's mainly because I see big lack of hacking in general in my meta, so my personal vote is kinda skewed in the wrong direction for the purpose of this survey as my meta doesn't use these forums much.

New poll option: Sometimes if the scenario or list synergy makes it a beneficial option

Pretty much this for me too. Hacking of all sorts is a spice, not a meal.

    Pretty much this for me.
They don't tend to be a big priority but I will take them over a FO specialist most times if I get to pick. they are a nice roadblock/surprise.

I take the Deva AHD all the time in NCA. Great defense through repeater nets and tough backup attacker. Helps that it has a big negative-modifier Upgrade though.

Where's the option "Yes, because there's no other tool for the job"?
"I don't have other options" implies there exists other options.

I field hackers in all my lists. AHD is the one I field fewer times, and usually only when Mary comes. I miss the option of: "Yes, but only sometimes". Usually HD+ will do the same work with extra options, and are not enough powerful to justify their use most of the time, but in a HI meta they can be good area denial because people are more afraid of them than their real menace

Within 8'' any JSA troop is an "assault" hacker. They hack your limbs out with any assortment of CCWs and Martial Arts.

Seriously tho, AHD is overcosted and doesn't really offer anything unique like the HD+ or a Hacking Device (Assault or other) with an upgrade. And to many armies, such as JSA, the KHD is just better because it's cheaper, a specialist, doesn't cost SWC and is actually more useful disabling enemy hackers, than the AHD (namely the Ninja...damn that profile is good!). As for TAGs and HI, JSA has a ton of better options dealing with those.

    Unfortunately I can't edit :(
For my Dahshat my only choices are HD or ADH and that's it. So i'll sometimes take the AHD Brawler or Zhencha.

It's lacking the option for "Yes, but depends on the list and army"

Guilang AHD is almost a staple in my Vanilla YJ, as she tends to be a very good hacker/putton pusher and guarded by a marker state.

There’s a lot of gray area I know but I wanted to keep the poll as simple as possible. I initially was going with just a Yes or No but that was too simple.

Haqq's only skirmisher hackers are assault hackers, so recently I've been taking the Hawwa a lot. We don't have any kind of repeater network, and I don't see much point in taking a KHD that will have to hike up the board before it can do any hacking. If the Hawwa had a KHD option I'd probably take that given how much cheaper it would be. That said, the AHD occasionally comes in handy stopping a ramboing HI in its tracks.

This. I've been on the receiving end of AHDs a whole lot recently because everyone I play knows my preference for HI and TAGs. And I've used a few of them myself when playing stuff like Show of Force.

When I played NCA/Varuna, I very rarely took one. I'm playing Druze/ikari for season 11, and I find myself reaching for the brawler AHD quite often. Mostly for the low entry cost for remotes. My meta has plenty of HI, remotes and TAGs rollin around, so it's almost always worth it. As well, KHDs dont seem to make all lists around here, so there's usually some breathing room.
