As the title says im asking for some advice...
In Mexico, players are organizing a tournament with the intention unite our national community. We know that in comparison to US or Spain we still have a long way but this could be our first event with more than 8 - 10 players from the same location, I'm hoping to have between 20 - 30 players from more than 5 cities of the nation.

Now for actual post... I am a loyal aspect that will represent ALEPH on this tournament (Dont know if the only one but is probable, at least to my knowledge). So i I come to you fellow Aspects, threads of humanity greatest Ally, for some advice...

    Playing with ITS XI rules.

The missions are Supremacy, Highly Classified, Supplies and Annihilation.

The only optional rule being applied is Tactical Window so no Spec Ops or Mercs

As far as I know there is going to be at least 1 Haqqi player, 2 Ju Jing, 1 Nomad, and one Panoceania. Not sure about sectorials (probably Bakunin, Ju jing Generic, IA, MO or Varuna)

I have played for almost 3 years, Stsrted with SP but i also have played OSS. Generic just a couple of games because I love playing with Fireteams.
    Questions
What would you play between SP, OSS or Vanilla?
What kind of lists would you make?
What strengths or weaknesses would you consider in your list building?

Finally my only pledge: I do Not play with Achilles, the profile is Gold dont get me wrong, but i just don like the guy, the mythological figure and the Infinity character. I have almost every miniature of Aleph but him.

Thanks for the time and sorry for the spelling errors...

Since you don’t play Achilles you limit yourself pretty strongly for Vanilla lists.

You seem to have more experience with SP than OSS, so I would pick SP. The missions certainly can be done with both, but annihilation and supplies can be easier with relatively straightforward lists of two Myrmidon links.

My rough list ideas would be:

List A for Annihilation and supplies with 2 Myrmidon links and 2 additional models like Agema, Drakios, Skylla or something.

List B for Highly Classified with one Myrmidon link, one link with Hector (Dactyls or Thorakitai, slight preference on the latter for the HMG) and two other models, definitely including a hacker.

For Supremacy I‘d then chose whichever list looks better for the terrain and opponent.
Keep in mind that list A can also work well for Highly Classified, especially if you need a lot of Veteran Troops

Glad to know i thought something similar, two myrmidon link for the Annihilation and Supplies, and another list for Highly Classified and Supremacy But i differ on having a second Limited Insertion list rather than a two groups List that could bring different tools for control and attack and also some defensive support. But I must say that using Hector on one of my two list is quite tempting.

    -Maybe Something like this:

Well the tournament has ended and I finished 5th place of 27 with 8 points of a 12 maximum.

Two ties and two victories of 3 points where I played against Ramah, Neoterra, Military Orders and Vanilla Ju Jing. The Missions where Supremacy, Highly Classified, Supplies and Annihilation. They were played in that order.

At the end I decided to go with OSS, mainly because of the starting board presence of the infiltrators and being able to have full cores; Also the missions didn't have any kind of negative condition (like exclusion zone, saturation zone) so I was expecting either great amounts of infiltrators or ARO pieces depending on the enemy that could slow quite a bit the SP.

    My first list:

    OSS A MF

    ──────────────────────────────────────────────────

    GROUP 1[IMG] [IMG] [IMG]10

    NETROD . (0 | 4)

    NETROD . (0 | 4)

DAKINI Tacbot Combi Rifle / Electric Pulse. (0 | 13)

DAKINI Tacbot Paramedic (MediKit) Combi Rifle / Electric Pulse. (0 | 15)

CSU (Specialist Operative) Rifle + Light Shotgun, Nanopulser / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 12)

ASURA Lieutenant L2 Hacker (Hacking Device Plus UPGRADE: Redrum) MULTI Rifle, Nanopulser / Pistol, AP CCW. (0.5 | 78)

SHUKRA (Chain of Command) Boarding Shotgun, Nanopulser / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 25)

    GROUP 2[IMG] [IMG] [IMG]4 [IMG]1

    PROXY Mk.1 Engineer Combi Rifle, Nanopulser, D-Charges / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 10)

    GARUDA Tacbot Spitfire / Electric Pulse. (1.5 | 28)

    6 SWC | 300 Points

This list was thought for Highly Classified and Supplies, the Idea was simple, use the core to kill enemy ARO Pieces ant then move the MK5, Asura or Dakini Paramedic to get some objectives or hunt enemy pieces on the middle. The Garuda was the Hunter of the list, mainly for turn two once the field had shifted from its original positioning revealing a little of the enemy intentions. Play and shoot from really long ranges and moving horizontally rather than advancing forward was the intended playstile of this list. At the end I used this list for Supremacy and Highly Classified.

    The Second list:

    OSS IL ALAT

    ──────────────────────────────────────────────────

    [IMG]10

SHAKTI Hacker (Killer Hacking Device. UPGRADE: Sucker Punch) Mk12, E/Marat / Heavy Pistol, Knife. (0 | 40)

YADU (NCO) HMG / Heavy Pistol, Knife. (2 | 41)

DEVA Lieutenant (Sensor) Combi Rifle, Nanopulser / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 24)

NAGA (Minelayer) Boarding Shotgun, Antipersonnel Mines / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 27)

DART Submachine Gun, Viral Tactical Bow, E/M Grenades / Pistol, Shock CC Weapon, Knife. (0 | 34)

PROXY Mk.2 Hacker (Assault Hacking Device) Boarding Shotgun, Nanopulser / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 21)

PROXY Mk.4 Heavy Rocket Launcher, Submachine Gun, Nanopulser / Pistol, Knife. (2 | 20)

    PROXY Mk.5 (Forward Observer) 2 Submachine Guns, Nanopulser, E/M Grenades / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 10)

    SOPHOTECT Combi Rifle, D-Charges / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 31)

    YUDBOT Electric Pulse. (0 | 3)

    ZAYIN Rebot HMG / Electric Pulse. (1 | 26)

    BOUNTY HUNTER Submachine Gun, Akrylat-Kanone / Breaker Pistol, Knife. (0 | 12)

CSU Boarding Shotgun, Nanopulser / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 11)

This list was intended for Supremacy and Annihilation behind the idea to bring some early game midfield presence to focus most of the orders on a specific attacking piece (The three infiltrators, the Harris or the MK4 of the circular templates where good enough in a certain situation) to deal early damage, crippling the enemy order count, forcing hidden deployment and paratroopers to be revealed/used on turn one or two. Also the low count of remotes was intended, so the same weakness of first list couldn't be exactly shared. At the end this list was used for Supplies and Annihilation.

    The First Game

Misson: Supremacy vs Ramah Task Force

    WIN for OSS (10 – 1)

Decided to use the first list because of the terrain, it was quite open with nice long range corridors, a couple of small buildings and some tall buildings outside of deployment zone, the sides where quite open but had some interesting places to land paratroops near the centre of the map.I loss the face to face roll, but in the end I was the one to go first on the turn order. The Multi Sniper Dakini on the Fireteam Core and Assisted Fire did wonders becoming the MVP of the game. In turn one he killed the enemy Al Fasid, Tarik and ending in a position where the enemy Core had no cover for the reactive turn. Second was the Garuda that landed on the first turn from one side and cough by surprise the enemy core and a missile launcher. Third was the Asura that managed activate three antennas at the cost of one wound. Overall a cold and surgical win, leaving the enemy with little to no movement right from the start. Killing any great threat but leaving enough troops so the match could reach turn three. The low side where the Proxies, first because the see little to no action, the Mk1 stayed hidden, the Mk2 was revealed on turn tree just to divide the map from the centre with a long and nice fire lane and the MK5 failed three times in activating a console just to then lose it when an enemy specialist moved, leave him in NWI and then hacking back the antenna at the end of the game.

    The Second Game

Mission: Highly Classified vs Neoterran Capitaline Army

    TIE (6 – 6)

The hardest game I had on the tournament. I decided to use the first list because the enemy army and the knowledge I had of the enemy player because we had some previous encounters where I was totally defeated. Also I had a feeling that the MSV3 of the Asura could be the only troop to save from any nasty TO Cammo unit if things went wrong with my Core. I won the initiative and decided to go first so I could out some early pressure on the objectives, hunt enemy ARO troops, (Mainly to lower the enemy orders) and position better my troops. The MVP of this match where the proxies: The Mk5 for accomplishing two objectives on turn one and then holding a flank for almost two turns, The Mk1 for repairing the HMG Dakini and the Sniper Dakini on the third turn so they could hold the last turn, slowing the enemy enough so no more objectives could be archived by my enemy. Finally the MK2 give his life on turn two against a Black Friar on a Core that was going for my Dakini on Core, the Black friar split his burst, killed the MK2 and was killed by the Dakini with the Multi Sniper rifle. Secondly was the Dakini Sniper that managed two kill two total reaction bots and one orc with Feuerbach. Third was the CSU that at the end hold a flank long enough to prevent the enemy to advance and cross the middle of the map being able to accomplish a classified objective. On the low side the Asura eat orders on turn two and didn't manage two kill anything, just wound two orcs, almost dying on the spot.

    The Third Game

    Misison: Supplies vs Military Orders

    TIE (3 – 3 )

The first game of the second and final day, a quick but tense game. I decided to use the Second list because the deployment Zones where quite sparse to place big troops or a full core without gathering up in one place. I won the Initiative roll and decide to go first. Also thought that the EM grenades of the MK5 and Dart, plus the Assault Hacking device of the Mk2, could be game changing against MO. The MVP for my side was Shakti that managed to kill a TO FO Order sergeant, stop Joan with the E/Marat and grab a supply box. On second place Dart did an amazing job killing a Black Friar and holding for two turns on the enemy left flank. On third place the Sophotect at the third turn hold her ground against a core for three orders making impossible for the enemy to grab a second supply box with the remaining orders they had. The low side where the Proxies that died on turn one, Mk5 accomplishing one classified mk2 trying to kill a Peacemaker and the MK4 failing to win any Face to face roll against the enemy core and the enemy Peacemaker.

    The Last Game

Mission: Annihilation vs Vanilla Ju Jing

    WIN for OSS (8-0)

Lost the Initiative roll, decided to go first once the side where set. My side lacked of high buildings that put me on disadvantage if I wanted to play the long range lanes that the map had on the centre and one side. Mos of my cover was on on side of my deployment so if I used the Dakini core it was going to be pretty obvious where it was going to be. The Second list was selected based on the previous observations. In this game Tyche was on my side, or at least no on the side of my enemy because he made good calls but had low BS rolls plus I managed to get a couple of critical against him on important moments. The MVP of the match has to go for the Minelayer Naga that manage to squeeze through enemy lines, climb a really big building and kill an enemy Haido on the first turn, giving the rest of my army space to breath. The price to pay for that was his life, but he did more than enough with that. Secondly is the MK4 that managed to won twice against a Mowang on reactive turn, burning him to a crisp, then surviving a couple of ARM saves against some other troops and taking control of the midfield by turn two. On third place the Zayin Remote that hold his ground on turn one against an enemy paratrooper that critically dropped behind my lines, he killed the paratrooper and then fired against a TO enemy getting a critical on a 2 leaving him unconscious, al on reactive turn. Finally the Mowang blow the Zayin into the sky on turn 2 but by that moment I was able to reposition my Harris and to a have decent shoots against almost anything on that moment. On the Low side the Yadu HMG did almost nothing, fired three times in the game but only ending the life of one Kuang shi. I am honestly glad the she just didn't died by the end of the game.

    FINAL Thoughts

Quite a fun experience and i'm happy with my placement. Mistakes were made but it was a really teaching and intense experience. Must say that Shakti is quite a discovery for me because I hardly had played her before but she is a well rounded and resilient troop. The Proxies as always the make wonders most of the time and I feel that the indeed need some kind of extra cost or rebalance because the are too good (Maybe adding a cap price if three models are used, or some point increase for some of the models, mainly both MK2 models and the FO MK5). Learned that personally I tend to forget that one can replace his private objective with the Secure HVT, I often leave my HVT well hidden but no well guarded by the end of the match. Dart is a great profile but I seem to lack something because I feel that she underperformed, I don't know exactly how to make her shine as the great hunter she is. Finally, the Yadu HMG is not bad but is not great, the NCO is a great skill but generally I think she lacks something to be considered more often on the list building, because right now she is just a maybe and just if there is a plan to play a LI list on a really killing focused mission, at least for me. She is not straight forward bad but playing with her is a somewhat “lacking and hollow” experience at the end.

Love to hear any feedback of the other fellow aspects about the lists used, tips on how to use certain units or personal experience with some similar list played units.

Well thanks for reading and sorry for the probable grammar and grammatical errors on my writing.
