Yeah, I don't think population or how is each religion represented demographically in Pano is relevant. The NeoVatican is a lobby, and a very powerful one apparently. One that cares so much about its power that funds a series of military orders to fulfill its agenda.
Surely there are other religions with more followers, or maybe not. It's not important as long as any of these religions doesn't field its own army.
Surely there are other lobbies with more power than the NeoVatican. But as far as I know, no other lobby group has its own army.

As for the NeoVatican itself, it makes complete sense that, being a conservative group, they base the whole concept of the Military Orders in the old european catholic orders of old.

There's a Hindu lobby mentioned as one of the most prominent humanitarian lobbies in the PanO source books, it also calls out that there are many lobbies stemming from religions, social groupings, and all sorts of interests.

Also, where does it say the military orders are made up of Europeans? Montesa is on Acontecimento so presumably recruits from the primarily south American locals, as you say Neoterra was founded during first wave of colonisation so most of the Christian settlers would have been Aussie or Filipino (India and Indonesia have a decent sized Christian minority too), Santiago are based in space so they can recruit from whoever, Hospitallers are on Svalarheima so are presumably mostly European and Norse.

Lastly, I don't think you can really specify ancestry from names due to 175 years of Takeshi Kovacsing, plus the fact that Australia was a founding nation which makes names like Garnett fit right in.

It also doesn’t hurt the something like a reversal of the Reformation and Great Schism occurred, creating a general Christian Church with everyone in the same tent, all pulling in the same direction. And when hundreds of millions, if not billions, belong not just to the same faith tradition, but the same organized church, easy for it to have vast influence, even if other faith traditions have more adherents, but loosely organized.

Sure, but are they represented in the game that we play? Is the military (and sports celebrities, in Gaia's case) of PanO disproportionately European in ancestry?

I think it's implied by the fact that all of the named characters (de Fersen, Dart, Konstantinos) are. Joan kinda doesn't count since she's a toaster. AFAIK there's no canonical non-European members of knightly orders in the game.

"Looking European is fashionable so everyone has re-cloned themselves into white bodies" is incredibly dystopian, and the setting doesn't really address that. Australia *was* a founding nation, it's just weird when such characters are over-represented, to the point where I think it starts to give a different impression than the written setting material.

Sorry, by Takeshi Kovacsing I mean that so many different cultures have been thrown together for long enough that names only vaguely point to a patrilineal heritage and don't generally match up with ethnicity. Not that certain phenotypes and skin colours would be "fashionable".

I imagine many of the names would kind of blend together after a while- if your whole school class requires different accents to correctly pronounce their first, middle, last and nick names (very possible in the case of something like Ariadna with a wide cultural and racial spread across a relatively miniscule population) you'd start fixing your language very quickly- Ivanovich "Ryu" MacJacques-Kennedy is a bit of a mouthful! This is kind of how I imagine SvalarNorse wound up a standard language, everyone just got sick of having to learn how to read eight different languages and so some Norwegian majority in the back of nowhere dug up a near-dead language, brushed off the cobwebs and made it fashionable until it spread among the bored and idle kind like French among the noblility in early medieval times. Must still be hell for the YuJingese immigrants though without Geist translators, I can't imagine Scandinavian languages meshing well with a generic Chinese-asian accent.

For the most part their ancestry isn't listed, beyond Singh whose surname suggests Punjabi ancestry (but could equally be descended from British Sikhs) and Konstantinos who is presumed to be Greek as he's named after Psychoticstorm we have very little concrete genealogical information for any of the characters. Add to this the fact that after 3 or more generations citizens will start to regard themselves as "Neoterra" or "Acontecimentoese".

Well, I tried to complete characters from PanO roster with ancestry I suppose they're and the results are:

Europe - Konstantinos (Greek), Joan (French; but as recreation, I'm not sure if I should even mention her), de Fersen (not sure here; he might be both of French/Italian of Scandinavian ancestry)
    Australia - Angus, Patsy
    India - Bipandra, Singh
Latin America - Rao, Dart (okay, she is ALEPH, but also of PanO origin and in two sectorials, so...)

That's not overly disproportional. Sure, I can imagine more Indians up there, and also a character from Malay/Indonesia, but still, it's not tragic. If there is a disproportion, it's that almost all PanO minis are painted as Europeans, but that¨s something you could easily change.

Speaking as someone qho calls Australia home, you can be called singh, fuh, mcdonnell, smith, popadopaulis, ristevski or Werner and still be Australian, and that's now never mind in another century and a half.

But this is getting quite far away from theory crafting how awesome the mechanical transmutation HI Sval is sure to get ia going to be.

Well, in terms of how they're visually presented, it matters. If Gaia and/or Patsy didn't look White-European it wouldn't feel so off.

Exactly, which is why it's so weird that these people aren't represented that well in PanO.

They still float around on the internet.

I remember I originally bought this when I tried to get into infinity back in N2 but had no one to play with.

Are yellow markings canon (on some box arts or official publications) or it's something you've added yourself? Following box-arts, I came up with some 'sectorial' markings for Varuna, ASA, MO and NCA, but I have no idea how to proceed with the Sval (so far I thought about some snow-white markings). So in case of interchangeable units like drones, for Varuna stuff I add additional black plates / stripes, NCA red, ASA green, MO will have order markings / heraldry. Yellow is still to be used and looks nice at your minis.

Thanks mate. I added that off my own back. from past paint jobs I just know it works well with the shade of blue I've gone with for the armour.
