Not that I know of. But it's a whole planet, might as well use the design space (or not use it on purpose, Sval people are apparently borderline racist according to Uma's fluff). Easy - because I also play Aleph and they do that trick better than YJ :P PanO does PanO things, which is crapton of stuff in between Vanilla, NCA, Varuna, SAA and old MO when I was still playing those. YJ combines both high end and super cheap chaff (Kuang Shi/Monks). They stop just shy off the top though. The Hsien can only match (or actually outperform) an Aquila/Asura/Charontid thanks to way better internal synergy, on his own he would be kinda meh. The Hac Tao is imho a way better Specialist than a Swiss, but no match for the Swiss HMG, Anathematic or Achilles. Sval is already more elite than YJ ever was with Jotums, Hospitalers and Nisses in there. YJ only has a pretty basic TAG, none of their linkable HI able to build a full 5 man Link can match Hospitalers (Cranes could - but no full 5 man for them) or a MI that can match the Nisse. On the flipside Sval is very likely not going to have much in the way of <10 point troops, the basic REMs/Warcor/Techbee being the exception. Ninjas are a relic in YJ, you know you'll never get over Uprising, I know you'll never get over Uprising. But on the off chance you ever stop being jealous and start thinking about the whole game instead of just your own little Faction you might figure out nothing else plays like YJ (oh and make a CA headcount while you're at it). CC is nice to have and mercs open up Sectorial options without giving them to Vanilla (i.e. MA4 EXP CCW and Smoke). If you paid attention you might have noticed Saito is listed under likely candidates, not under "pretty much confirmed". There's simply a lot of hints of him being in there so he appears to be likely, that's it. There's only Ninja/Oniwabans as TO CC troops in the game right now and they're BS11 CC23+ MA3+. All other CC Skirmishers are capped at regular Camo. There's an argument to be made the game has space for a slightly less stabby but more shooty TO trooper around BS12-13 and CC20-22 MA1-2, obviously with different Profiles than Ninja's. Saito is not on my personal wishlist (same for Joan btw, wouldn't mind not seeing her in Sval) - I'll just take what I can get and take it from there when they release. Sval might turn out as well as MO/IA/Morats or might be as good as OSS/Shas/Varuna - who knows at this point, eh? Assuming AVA Total Fusiliers, AVA2 on Rems, Hospitaler Links, Nisse and Jotum they're gonna be at least alright, pretty stoked about seeing how they turn out.
Well I had this idea about proffesional "sabotuer" in Shval..... Superior infiltration + Minelayer + D-Charges etc. some relevant Gun etc. Separete profile without Infiltration but mayby camo/ambush camo with Feubarach (and mayby some additional frills with Marksmanship or something). Saboteur MOV CC BS PH WIP ARM BTS S AVA 4-4 17 12 12 13 0 3 2 2 Smoke Grenades, TO, D-Charges, Profile: SMG, E/Mauler, Drop Bears, Infiltration, DA CCW (mayby SMG makes him too cheap?) Profile: Feubarach, FO, Sensor, Marksmanship L:X , Shock CCW, Ambush Camo
Sval should always have been East African, Chilean, Argentinian and North Indian in cultural make up IMO. All the original PanO colonists would have been from countries in PanO with large mining industries or experience in Antarctica as really the only reason to move there was you have a job in a mining Corp/security force and then the various logistics and social needs to make that function. But then I also don't believe anyone in PanO should be from Europe so. Should all be Pacific and Indian Ocean bordered areas.
Trollhunter (TAG): MOV 8-4 CC 15 BS 15 PH 15 WIP 12 ARM 5 BTS 6 STR 2 S 5 Remote Presence, Limited Camo, Forward Deployment L1, Sensor, NWI, Mountain/Multiterrain (?) Profile: Heavy Shotgun, Pulzar, Electric Pulse Profile: MMR, Pulzar (Marksmanship L1), Electric Pulse Profile: Red Fury, Pulzar, Electric Pulse
Yeah but somewhere along the line they backpedaled on that idea and PanO became the Euro-Christian faction. I guess they're primarily marketing towards white people in Western countries, gotta appeal to that identity. The original fluff implied that the ethnic majority of the faction would be Southeast Asian and the majority religion would be Islam or Hindu, but somewhere along the line those people disappeared, and 3/4 of the PanO sectorials are dominated by white people, implying they're somehow a majority within the faction. How is someone ultra-nationalist in PanO, anyway? It's more like super-NAFTA than a country. Or are they pulling for a nation within PanO, like they want Svalarheima to break away and form its own nation? If there's a "Trollhunter" unit, they better have a KHD profile.
Man, if Joan was in Sval that would be awesome. Though, im doubtful that will happen. My wishlist is that it's the best of MO mixed with some classic PanO tech troops with a 3-4 new units thrown in. We can expect a really straightforward faction design, just because it comes packed in a new edition starter. I can also see infiltration options being extremely limited.
From the RPG: Languages on per region: Arkhangelsk: English, German, and SvalarNorse Nordkap: German, Spanish, English, SvalarNorse Solokov: German, Spanish, English, SvalarNorse Trollhättan: German, Spanish, English, SvalarNorse Epsilon Eridani System Orbitals: German, Spanish, Tagalog, English, SvalarNorse Huangdi: (formerly called Niflheim) Yu Jing... The first settlers there came from Norway, Scandinavia, and Germany. During the mining rush people from Cuba, Mongolia, Australia, Angola, and the Congo came there as well. Moto.tronica has a TAG research center there. The Hospitalers have most of their forces there, in the Fortress-Monastery of Saint John of Skovorodino. The PanOceanian army on Svalarheima is called 'Svalarheima Winter Force' and is described as a relatively small but hardened force of elite units, consisting of the Nisses, the Sixth Svalarheima Fusiliers, and the Order of the Hospital. There seem to be many mines and booby traps left from the NeoColonial Wars, so Minsweepers might be common. And as there is some serious Teseum mining going on, maybe some T2 weapons.
I'd like to see some FD2 at the very least. if bravery sticks around I guess we'll have FD1 Nisse.... I also used to hear talk of an AD doctor unit based on valkyries
Makes sense. Orc´s everywere and their profil list grows on two pages :-D AVA 3 Mulebots? Thats something I want to see fluffwise (fluff from the nordic thema) - an AD Lvl 5 MI with doctor with WIP 13 and good combat (yes CC too) skills. CB will use the opportunity and mix some new units in. But so far it looks like they not want a S5 HI in Pan O and Pan O has alredy enough TAGs. A Battle Box with Savarlaheima and White Banner with the new terrain would be an absolute bestseller - at least I will buy one!
I, too, would not be surprised to see a "winterised" Uhlan in Svalarheima. That would compliment the Jotum nicely.
The Valkyries was something fan-driven, as far as I know. Several of us over the years have come up with various ideas for Svalarheima, and most of it was predicated upon the idea of leaving the Military Orders stuff out of the sectorial. Valkyries were something that was mentioned alongside of the Einherjar as complementary units, with the Valkyries getting AD and being Doctors while Einherjar were a solo-unit with some defensive abilities. Then we had Draugr as the 'Hexa' equivalent, and a few of us came up with a 'troll' S Heavy Infantry. There's a lot of room for cool, interesting units outside of the Nordic/Germanic concepts. I genuinely didn't know about the 'mining rush' there, but damn it would be fun having a Yeti in lieu of the 'troll'. The sad part is that we probably won't ever get that, and instead get saddled with MO stuff 'for fluff reasons'(but really because it's cheaper for them to do that then it is to design a new unit).
I know you have a certain allergy to MO stuff Kan, but truth be told I like it – not all of it, but enough that id like to see some of it in a sectorial worth using.
