    The conflict after Kurage

Prologue 1 (previous game): The prisoner of the Combined Army

    Urt Noaw, Colonel Umbra Legates

Unknown position in the Novvy Cimmeria island

    Planet Dawn

“The triggering of the what the humans call the Kurage Conflict took us by surprise. The plan of a silent beach head deployment in this barbaric planning got abruptly interrupted and we lost many good forces but we managed to survive the combats in the island against the different human forces and are still ready to proceed as initially planned. Everything is under control. Everything but one thing. You might not know that but High Nexus Officer Narr-Moat was made prisoner by the Merovingians during our unexpected encounter. For a long time, we did not know where he was but after the Kurage Crisis, an ariadnan ship left the island to bring all their wounded troopers to the hospitals in the continent to continue their treatments properly. In that ship, we had an infiltrated agent that could confirm the presence of a secret passenger in a high security room. He managed to find out that the next step is to transport him to Matr, the capital of this planet, to be interrogated by the Stavka, their secret service, without informing other human nations. And this mistrust among them will benefit us.

In order to keep it secret before the other humans, Narr-Moat will be transported in a regular train from the point in the Tartary coast in which the ship disembarked all passengers. Therefore, we have now a perfect opportunity to assault that train and rescue our High Officer without significant resistance. Do not fail the Evolved Intelligence in this critical mission!! “

    Major Gabriel H. Jackson

Briefing room of the space ship Icey Lady

Space Port of the panoceanian base Panoc 23, Planet Dawn

“- As you already know, the panoceanian high command in Dawn was planning to redistribute the forces deployed in Novvy Cimmeria island after the end of the Kurage Crisis. Our 226th company had been assigned to Capa Blanca island…

    - No, major, no please… That abandoned piece of ice in the middle of nowhere…

    - Stop that McMartin! And let me finish… We had been assigned but we have just received one last mission before we move.

    - Yeah! – said happily the spec-o agent Antonio McMartin

    - McMartin, stop it now!! The hexaedron command in Bandrika City has received intel from their spies on the Ariadnan west coast. The Stavka is trying to hide from us that they have captured a high officer of the Combined Army. No one else in the Human Sphere knows that, which is an advantage for us. While those low-tech people will not be able to get anything useful from them, in the hands of the Hexaedron, this officer can be an essential piece of information to understand the plans of the aliens in this planet or even in general. Therefore, let us do humanity a favor by stealing the prisoner from the ariadnanians and getting critical intel from him.

    - What is the plan, Major? – asked Lieutenant Campoy.

    - The good thing about the plan is that the Combined Army officer still has to be transferred to Matr by train. In order to do it incognito, they´ll do it in a regular train. So, it will be piece of cake: Some of our agents in the area will sabotage the line so that the train has to stop. They have also captured some antipodes alive to simulate an antipodes assault while they are trying to repair the railway. Since they will be more than busy, a small group of our company will just jump into the train and check all sections until the alien is found. So: get in, find the alien, get out. Easy.

Now, let´s go. The sabotaging activities are already beginning.

    Players: Panoceania vs. Combined Army

    Infinity Mission: Train rescue

Variations with respect to original mission: none.

    Outcome:

“Both forces arrived at the same time at the point in which the train had to stop due to the sabotage. They descended from their transports while the freezing wind of Tartary hit their faces and deployed their teams rapidly, some of them in forward positions to board the train and some other in high ground to cover their advance and keep the enemy back. The alien troops of the Onyx Force were the first to approach the train, eager to rescue their High Nexus Officer Narr-Moat. In the middle of the intense exchange of fire, a thermo-camouflaged Maligno incursor made it into the train the downloaded the codes to open the containers in which Narr-Moat was kept. An aquila officer detected him with his multispectral visor and tried to advance to stop him but was blew off by the missile launched by an unidron watcher. Narr-Moat was freed and lead by the Maligno towards their landing zone. The malign was stunned by the electrical defenses of the train and this would give some time to the panoceanian team. However, everything was happening too fast and the special team of 226th company thought that they´d miss the target. They needed to advance immediately but could not even move because of the suppression fire from the alien sniper and rocket launchers. Their own snipers tried to shoot them down but got severely injured. The situation looked very bad.

    - Hey, sweetie – said spec-op McMartin to the agent doctor Julianne Diewald via comlog - we are quite fucked down here and we will not survive very long without our sniper team supporting us. Don´t you have a magic drink for our bleeding comrades?

Julianne was an expert special agent and ignored the stupid comment. She was already cautiously heading through the snow towards the sniper nest where their troopers laid unconscious and used her proven medical skills to reanimate their shooting team. With new strength but still bleeding, the neoterran snipers stood up and eliminated the unidrone marksmen.

    - Now you have free path! Advance! – shouted Lt. Campoy

Locust agent Smith looked at McMartin and began running.

    - Not so fast! You, crazy bastard – said the spec-op. He knew that there were an Umbra Legates and at least one Morat hidden in the way to the Nexus officer and didn´t want to face them directly – Let our pretty toys do some work!

McMartin had brought to the mission one of the Peacemaker Remotes that he had personally repaired and upgraded. The robot, supported by its synchronized auxbot, ran rapidly in front of them and assaulted the aliens. A cloud of shotgun and flamethrower fire surrounded the enemies, who died screaming but not before they shot back disabling the remote.

    - Now, we go – said the neoterran engineer with a smile.

He entered the train cabin to download critical information about Narr-Moat, while Smith darted towards the High Nexus Officer himself, who was about to reach the alien transport ship. But, before he could reach the ship, the captain of the Onyx troopers stood in his way. He tried to hack Smith´s own hacking device to burst his brain but the Locust agent was fast enough and shot the alien captain down. Then, the Maligno, seeing that he could evacuate Narr-Moat on time, turned to face Smith but he was much faster and put his knife through his shasvastii throat.

    - McMartin, let us get out of here! I have Narr-Moat! Let´s ….

The last words of Smith were consumed in the fire of the flamethrower of an Ikadron that he did not see coming from behind.

McMartin knew there was no time for him to get to the High Nexus Officer but he had one idea. With one detonating charge, he blew away the landing zone. His team would not take Narr-Moat with them but also not the aliens. Furthermore, the Onyx force had been decimated and he had already obtained crucial information from the computers in the train. Thus, he walked back through the snow, covered in a cloud of dark smoke from the explosion and being sure that his captain would consider this as a victory.

PROLOGUE 2 (previous game): Big fish far away from the sea

    Lieutenant James Redwood

    Interior of a camouflaged vehicle

Exclusion zone between Newport and Mount Zion, Planet Dawn

“We are always told that O12 is our friend. That they helped us keeping our independence. That without them, the powerful Panoceania and YuJing would have taken over our planet in no time. But this is not true: we could have defended ourselves and they… they allowed them to land here, did not intervene in the conflict for too long and when they did it, they gave them the minor continents and islands surrounding us and created the exclusion zone with the excuse to protect us from them. But they are not even doing that. The O12-law of no permanent settlements in the exclusion zone is being implemented with focus on the word “permanent”. As you all know, the area is full of mobile or temporary settlements from foreign governments or their greedy companies. The group I hate the most is the University of Gratia (UoG) Research Group. They have been here for more than one year apparently collecting scientific data about the biosphere in Dawn for their famous neoterran zoology center. But we know better. Since they travel heavily protected by panoceanian troops with the excuse of protecting the scientists from the Antipodes, they are infiltrating spies within these troops to gather intel about us. Our secret services think that the panocenian representative for O12, Francois Ruet, that was visiting the UoG research centers is actually an hexaedron agent and that he has obtained a critical information from the Stavka that cannot end in the wrong hands. We could not catch him while on the ground due to major military presence in the UoG camp during his visit. But we are going to do it we he flights back to Bandrika City. Our men in-site have sabotaged his ship and the big fish will have to carry out a critical emergency landing far before they reach the sea. More or less where we are now. We are waiting for him to take good care of him. Be ready.”

Conversation of the special situations group “Boreas”

    Interior of their “Boreas” ship

Flying close to the east coast of the Picard Ocean, Planet Dawn

“We have an emergency call – said coldly Deva Captain Nemeas – The ship of the panoceanian O-12 commisioner Francois Ruet is trying to perform an emergency landing in the middle of an exclusion zone region full of dangerous antipodes. Although Panoceania has sent immediately troops to that area, the O12 authorities have requested us to take over the rescue since, given our position and our ship, we will be there much faster. Asura agent Nichta, gather the defined commando. The details of the operation are being downloaded right now into your cubes. That is all.”

    Players: USAriadna vs. Aleph

    Infinity Mission: Flee or Die

Variations with respect to original mission: none.

    Outcome:

“Asura Lieutenant Nichta arrived with her team to position in which the ship had crashed. Everything was full with rests of the broken space vehicle. The good thing was that there were distress signals of three functional crash coffins and the panocenian representative for O12, Francois Ruet, had to be in one of them. Unfortunately, there was a full team of USAriadna troopers that did not want this rescue to happen. The naga infiltrators had already received a message from Nichta in their cubes to move fast and open the coffins before the Ariadnans could arrive to them. Two nagas succeeded thanks to their camouflaged advance but the found only empty coffins. The third one could not get close to his objective due to the heavy suppression fire from a Grunt fireteam. In order to clear the path, the two Dakini snipers from the team of the Deva hacker Alastor opened fire and shot down two enemy snipers. Furthermore, Nichta advanced to support the Nagas discovering camouflaged enemies with her state-of-the-art multispectral visor and killing them with no mercy. It looked like it could be an easy victory.

On the other side of the battlefield, Lieutenant Redwood shouted orders as if he were possessed:

    - You bastards! Keep your shit together! Regroup and hold the line! … Sanders! Where the fuck are you?! Move your ranger ass and kick some robot ass… We cannot move an inch without being pierced by these mimetized tin cans!

Luke Sanders, that had been airborne-deployed in an advanced position, attacked the Dakini team from one flank killing the best positioned Dakini sniper and some other Aleph support troopers before being shoot by the AI agents.

    - Lieutenant, Sanders has cleared the path! I am going to approach the third coffin.

Corporal Jones, foxtrot infiltration specialist, who had been hidden in camouflage, reached the coffin and after some attempts was able to get O-12 comissioner Ruet out of it. The panoceanian knew he was not being rescued and fought hard against Jones but the Usariadnan corporal was a professional killer and did his job. Once Ruet was dead, Jones extracted the data box from his body and ran back to his transport. The Aleph troopers tried a desperate maneuver to avoid the escape but were fought back but the well positioned Ariadnan troopers. The Dawn natives had obtained a clear victory and the explanations of the Aleph agents to O-12 would not be easy.

However, the AI recorded all collected information about the fight, analyzed it in nanoseconds, improved the fight algorithms with the lessons learned and downloaded them into all troopers in that Dawn area. Something like this could not happen again.”

    Outcome

    Aleph [OSS]: 1 point

-retrieved secondary data box 1 point

    Ariadna [USAriadna]: 8 points

-Neutralized VIP executive and evacuated main data box 5 points

    -Retreived main data 1 point

-Evacuated secondary data box 2 points

    NEW CAMPAIGN: INTRODUCTION

    Colonel David “Skullmar” Andrade

    Hexaedron Command Room

    Bandrika City, Planet Dawn

“The ignorance of these Ariadnans can be huge, as big as their mistrust against us. They have committed a terrible crime by killing Mister Ruet last week. The report we received from the Aleph unit that tried to avoid it was devastating. And they did all this because they thought Ruet was spying them… of course, he was! But it was for their own good! As you very well know, the presence of Combined Army forces in Dawn was confirmed in the Kurage island many months ago and, apparently, they were kicked out of the island during the international Kurage conflict but they just simply moved to the west coast of the main continent where they tried to rescue their leader, the High Nexus Officer Narr-Moat. Fortunately, thanks to the intel provided by this Hexaedron office (great job guys!) one of my companies, the 226th company, or as you guys call them “The Kurage Warriors”, was made aware of it and could not only avoid the rescue but obtain critical information from the comm-equipment of Narr-Moat. Unfortunately, the alien officer died during the mission, which left us without the possibility of gathering more information. However, our xenolinguists in Paradiso helped us to translate some of the information in his comm-device (something that the Ariadnans would have never achieved). Apparently, the Onyx force in Dawn was just a distraction maneuver to allow Shasvastii troopers to infiltrate the Ariadnan population and impersonate relevant people in their society, eventually even members of their Stavka secret service. This triggered our special intel squad of the 226th company, who got infiltrated into Ariadnan territory. Two months ago, black friar brother Espitia, found the first solid hints of Shasvastii infiltrators in USAriadnan territory and we contacted the Hexaedron Head Quarters, who activated the “sleeping agent” Francois Ruet to gather critical information from USAriadnan politicians and military officers. The Stavka uncovered Ruet and we know the tragic end of it (may he rest in peace) but, if they think we are going to give up, they are very wrong.

The situation in Paradiso requires unfortunately my immediate presence, but Major Jackson, the officer I trust the most for this kind of situations, will take over the coordination of these missions and the 226th company of captain Hofirek will be his operative arm.

Major Jackson, please proceed with the explanation of the first mission.”

    Mission 1: Forest Ambush

    Major Gabriel H. Jackson

    Hexaedron Command Room

    Bandrika City, Planet Dawn

“The information sent by Mr. Ruet before he was killed was not much. The really relevant information was the one he was carrying with him and it is now in the hands of the USARF. We know from our informants in the Ariadnan Exclusion Zone (AEZ) that is was brought to the mobile operation base “Liberty” a restricted area surrounded by fortified A compounds, which makes almost impossible a successful infiltration. Therefore, we will go for the plan B:

We know they sent a convoy to their capital Mount Zion every two weeks and, although I am very sure that they have no chance to undo the encryption of Ruet´s data box, if they have any in will be in Mount Sion. That is why I am certain the box will go in their next convoy. We will prepare an ambush and recover the information. Captain Hofirek will inform you about the chosen members for the commando.”

    Lt. Colonel Joseph “Joe” Zanetti

    Mobile Operational Base “Liberty”

    USAriadna-AEZ Border, Planet Dawn

“I have to admit that I was surprised at first that there was no reaction to the Ruet affair but recently we have observed changes in the panoceanian activities in the AEZ. Changes in their scientific personnel, changes in their routes… I do not know yet why they began this espionage conflict in the first place but I also do not care. We have to defend our land and its secrets from any foreign invader. Keep your eyes open and eliminate any infiltrated enemy. That applies to all border patrols and convoy defense groups. That is all for today.”

    Outcome:

It was a rainy and cold afternoon in that forest of the AEZ and the Panoceanian commando of Lieutenant Campoy was soaking wet. They had been waiting for many hours the Ariadnan convoy from MOB Liberty. But not only the weather was unpleasant, that area was full of antipodes and they could be subject to their attack any time. Every hour seemed to be never-ending but, then, the sound of the motors of the USAriadnan transports confirmed that they were in the right spot. The special agent Mc Martin, known as Mister Sabotage, had prepare several traps and explosives which disabled the vehicles and created the perfect chaos. The neo-american troopers left rapidly the sabotaged zone and prepared a disciplined escape rout through the forest while protecting two baggage REMs. It was clear that Ruet´s data box had to be in one of them.

Campoy launched the ambush against the survivors, forcing them to stop the escape and deploy in a defensive mode, while sent Julia Zimmerman to infiltrate their flank and recover the precious information. Julia was a short but tough girl from Zurich that had been able to join the Swiss Guard and was deployed in Dawn as part of her first mission to enhance her combat experience. She began to cross the densest part of the forest followed by a Mulebot that should carry the databox once recovered and the Locust agent that had been provided the intel about the plans in MOB Liberty. But the Ariadnans were no beginners and had prepared a counter infiltration team. A first hidden Grunt could be shot down fast enough but a camouflaged Foxtrot was also waiting for them.

Foxtrot trooper Lewis was waiting for the enemy to come closer and, once the intruder Mulebot was in front of him, he left his hidden position shooting his powerful shotgun. The effect was so devastating that not only the robot was disabled but also the Locust running behind it felt unconscious to the ground. Lewis knew that there was a third enemy close but could not see him. Thus, he left a hidden mine in that position and returned to his camouflaged spot.

Lieutenant Campoy knew that Zimmerman´s position was getting compromised and decided to give her cover. His team of neoterran fusiliers climbed to the highest hill in that area and began to shot a rain of suppression fire on the teams of grunts and marauders that were protecting the USAriadnan baggage REMs.

The neo-american Lieutenant, James Redwood, was not very impressed. He was a veteran of the Ariadnan Commercial Conflicts and had fought almost against every colonialist army or mercenary force on planet Dawn. His team was also specially trained and knew those forests as if they had been born there.

    - Marauder team, let us show this imperialist invaders what are we made of ! … Attack!!

Rest of the platoon, focus on the defense of REM-24F03!!

The heavy weapons of the rangers caused several casualties among the panoceanian ranks but the plan of Campoy had worked. With all eyes on them, Zimmerman had had time to find a way far away from the mined zone. She used her thermo-optical camouflaged to cross the enemy lines and arrive to their rearguard. There, there was the REM that was most protected and Julia was sure that was the one carrying the databox. She took her heavy machine gun with the cross of Neoterra craved on it and open fire on anyone within range: one heavy armored Minuteman, one war-engineer and a whole team of Marauder rangers fell under her weapon. The last obstacle between her and the REM-24F03 was a huge Blackjack. The monstrous ex-amour tried to protect the robot fighting hard but was caught between the fire of swiss guard and of the machine guns of the fusiliers on the hill. It did not take long before it was disabled and Zimmerman could immobilize the REM and look for the databox… but it wasn´t there!!

Lieutenant Redwood was laughing out loud. He was heavily injured on the wet ground of the forest but had been able to deceive the panoceanians and focus their efforts on the wrong REM. Before falling unconscious, and in the hope of being rescued by the next convoy, he gave the last order via personal comm.

    - Kill the bitch! We don´t want this imperialist ghost wandering through our forests!!

The grunt fire team left its cover position and opened fire first against the fusiliers on the hill, wounding Lieutenant Campoy, and tried to get close to Zimmerman but they forgot about the Black Friar sniper up in a tree. The Dominican Espitia began to shoot them down one by one while they moved until Foxtrot Lewis took over the command.

    - Comrades, get the REM and let us get of here before we all get killed!!

The multi-terrain skills of Lewis helped him and the few Grunts left to vanish in the forest and take with them the robot with Ruet´s data box.

    - Damn it!! – shouted Zimmerman – They are gone!

The panoceanian commando had got a military victory by decimating the adversary but the main objective, the information, was lost. A bitter victory.

Mission 2: The informant in Madison

“Madison is a border dump, full of gun fanatics, a place full of violence. In particular the matches of the Madison Mad Dogs always end with police intervention, everything will be chaotic and confusing. This is where we will meet. After the end of the game next weekend.”

Captain J. Hofirek inside the “Icey Girl” Ship

    Secret Panoceanian Camp

    Eastern Peninsula, Planet Dawn

“Ladies and gentlemen, we are very lucky. We thought that we had lost any option to continue the investigation but there was a lucky punch, a name. We were sure that we could not obtain more relevant information from the comm-equipment of Narr-Moat but we were wrong. Our xenolinguists had been able to understand some last symbols that did not correspond to that alien language or any other alien language known to them. They were actually a phonetic translation of a human name Martin Baker. He was mentioned as dangerous since he was the first to report his impression of an alien infiltration in his battalion. Once we got the name, the Hexaedron did the rest, the full report about mister Baker…. Sergeant Martin Jefferson Baker. Born in 2156 in Madison, State of Jackson, USAriadna. He entered the 9th Motorized Recon Battalion very young and participated in the wars of the Dawn Commercial Conflicts. After the truce, he served in the AEZ border patrol and, few months ago, he was part of the fast response team assigned to the Kurage Conflict in Novyy Cimmeria. He was mysteriously removed from his company before the end of the conflict and sent back to his home town, Madison. Recently, he has lost his job in the army and he is willing to speak with us next weekend in exchange for a decent amount of money… Money makes the world go around.

Let us prepare an infiltration team to ensure a safe interaction in Madison.”

    Major Jonathan F. Ward

    Madison Infantry Base

    Madison, Planet Dawn

“These imperialist panoceanians keep on underestimating us. They think that with their high-tech toys and stealth technologies are invisible to us but they forget the good old espionage methods. In those, our Stavka Secret Services have no rival and, once again, their plans are known to us. We have been following ex-sergeant Baker for months, even after he was removed from the army. His behavior became extremely strange while serving in Novvy Cimmeria and acused Major Taylor of being working for the aliens or even being an alien himself. He was even telling that in an interview to an Oxyd warcor when the press-officer of his ranger company, Miss Brooks, stopped everything (fortunately early enough). Not much later he was sent back here to undergo a mental health analysis. Nothing could be proved but, if you ask me, if he was not insane after fighting the aliens, he was someone looking for popularity and money, even if that ruined the image of army. Kicking him out was the right thing to do.

Now the stupid imperialists want to interview him. I do not know what kind of relevant information they expect from him but we owe these bastards a kick in their assess for what they did to our men in the Mount Zion forests. We lost many good soldiers and our respected Lieutenant Redwood is still in the hospital. So, let us prepare a welcome committee the way we do it in Madison.”
