After debating Tohaa when I first started playing over 3 years ago, picking up a swath of them second hand, then selling those without ever fielding them I recently stumbled back into them with another second hand purchase. Not wanting to let them collect dust like the last set did I figured I would pop in here and see if anyone wanted could offer advise on where to start with what I have. I'm primarily a vanilla Aleph player with occasional jaunts into Operations and SP. I also have essentially a complete Bakunin collection, but that doesn't see much play of late. I tend to take a more defensive approach to play, but have been attempting to challenge that with some aggressive alpha striking oriented lists of late too. Here's what I have: Spiral Corps box with Hatail SpecOps LI Chaksa w/Flamethrowers (3) Chaksa Servant (2) Kaauri Sentinels (2) Kaeltar Specialist (2) + SymbioMates/SymbioBombs Kamael w/ Combis (3) Kerail Preceptor Team Kosuil w/ Combi Kotail Mobile Unit Nikoul Rasail Boarding Team w/ Spitfire Rasail Boarding Team Sakiel w/ Viral Combi Sakiel w/ Spitfire Sukeul w/ Missile Launcher Tohaa Diplomat MI Gao-Rael Sniper Gao-Rael Spitfire HI Ektros Neema Saatar SK Clipsos Infiltrator w/ Combi Clipsos Infiltrator w/ Sniper WB Makauls (4) misc Gorgos Pilot
Hey Duke, are you look for list suggests with those models, or what else you might buy to expand the collection, or some general thoughts on how to play what you've got, or a bit of all three? That's a really good core for a Tohaa army. Are the Chaksas with HFTs the Rasail team members, or the Auxiliary models?
I'm guessing they are the ones that came with the Rasail team. I don't have them on hand right now to double check though. Probably a bit of all three, but a general list idea or two to get me started would be helpful. I haven't really looked at Tohaa since before Spiral and the new profiles came out and since that was only looking and never playing I'm sure there is a lot to put together

As a SC player I would like to add just one thing: never leave home without a Clipsos. FO, Minelayer, BS - all pretty darn good profiles.

I usually arrange the Triads in the list, but I do change them on the fly if we roll a mission that doesn't agree with the list. For example in the first list I have only two Triads (Draal and Kaeltars aren't together), but I can see a situation, where I mix it up and make Makaul-Makaul-Kaeltar and Draal-Makaul-Kaeltar triads for moving up my specialists.
Depending on the mission the Draal Marksman Rifle and 2 Makaul would be a good alpha strike triad. If the Draal can get a good run at the back line, she can do a lot of damage, and 2 Makaul can help lay smoke to allow her to do that, and can be an annoying road block to slow your opponent down on their turn.
A good 'intro to Tohaa' list building : 1) Pick 4 symbioarmor troopers 2) Add 2 Kaeltar + 4 symbiomates 3) Fill out triads; remember that Kaeltar have triad and are button pushers 4) Fill out the rest of your points. This results in normally 14 order lists Once you get the hang of things you can start experimenting with degenerate 20 order lists like Rob makes.
Full credit where it's due: in the tohaa space, our boi @borings is the original degenerate order spammer. Without massive AVA 5pt warbands, I but live in his shadow. :P
