I would very much appreciate it if you kept doing WIPs, myself.

Thanks for letting me know. Next up is 74662434_2514480428605229_1517529438802149376_n.jpg

After I paint this guy I am probably going to do a Crane Rank just so I have a completed ISS army, after that though I may take a break from yellow/Orange for a bit. I am not sure what else I should paint though, I have Aleph, Some PanO, and Nomads (and heaven forbid 40k Eldar, which some is painted to my highest level). I am thinking of Painting Hector as he is a model I have always wanted to paint. My Aleph Scheme is different from the standard scheme so it might be something that people will find more interesting (rather than copies of Angel's work, even if I do some slightly different things).

Great job again. Personally I don't like to see WIPs without the finished result. Maybe save posting them until you are finished and then post WIPs and Finished result in one post?

    WIP is great.
I have to say that your TAG posts get me motivated to work on my own.

Just finished this one. I kinda rushed it towards the end because I think I am getting painters fatigue. 75071486_2523319494387989_281381428027981824_n.jpg 73375570_2523319641054641_4211599378034458624_n.jpg 75375647_2523319824387956_4298369060422287360_n.jpg

Hey guys. So alot of my friends ask how I paint, or say omg your so good with the Airbrush, or it looks so smooth. These statements make me feel like there are alot of misconceptions about painting. For my high table top quality you dont have to be perfectly smooth especially with the AB. On the cat Su Jian I am about to show you I am trying to paint it faster (mainly because I hate painting something that adds no points to my army as I can easily just put a token down and say he's in cat form). While painting this model I want to talk about some key points that help with painting alittle faster as well as getting a good look. 74183652_2526828870703718_8146424148617330688_o.jpg

This is my initial Airbrushing.. now I can make it smoother, but for the sake of speed and a high table top quality its not important. Instead I like to out line the edges with a very bright high light, dark line the crevices between armor plates very dark, and do one wash of the base color between the highs and lows and, if I feel take the first dark color and apply it to the lower rounded portions of the model (as a wash). Creating Shape thru contrast is very important!

I hope explaining these concepts a little helps.Let me know what you think or if you have questions.

Thanks for sharing! Do you mask at all or do you spray the yellow and then do all the black by hand?

I have done it both ways, lately I have been spraying the yellow and masking the yellow off, spraying the metallic look, finish the metallic look by hand and then peel the mask.

Alright hot off the block with a new camera phone. This is my newest model the start of my Aleph in an original scheme. I chose these colors for a reason but am definitely willing to change. The orange on the base is that so that the Garuda and future Bots can go in my Yu Jing armies and not look out of place (I kinda like the tecno Stone color). The Green primary color of the model is bases off of Halo's Master Chief, but I do think I am going to use a hot pink glow effect on the eyes and any lights from the model. What do you guys think? Do you like the base? What color should pin stripes be (yellow) ? 75250933_2540670065986265_1371152331969658880_n.jpg 70502874_2540670085986263_2159629836987924480_n.jpg 77225677_2540670152652923_3378763523797549056_n.jpg

and I like how this scheme matches my old Aleph scheme that I never got to finish. (I only did 2 models in this scheme) 75064832_2542020642517874_3599890752550731776_n.jpg

@Bitmochi I think your color scheme looks good. The Aleph models in that shade of green plus the orange was a nice secondary choice. If you are unhappy with it go ahead and do what you wish since it is your satisfaction matters the most. It is just my opinion that the current colors are a nice fit for the models you've shown painted.

What I am about to say may sound a little strange or wrong... but even though the models are mine and I painted them, peer acceptance is very important to me. Its a real joy and a sense of accomplishment looking in my case and seeing nicely painted models, at the same time its also a fantastic feeling when people come up to me and are like "wow those are amazing" or "that's one of the best armies I have seen". Realistically lately unless you are just out of this world or truely unique you don't get alot of compliments for paint jobs. I think that its due to the explosion of amazing painters lately. Also my newer Yu Jing represent a different painting style from what I normally do, which makes me uneasy about if I am doing a good job or not, atleast in comparison to my previous works. I use to paint more like Privateer Press studio.

An example would be... (note if I am not allowed to put other company models in here let me know and I will delete it) but from this picture you should be able to see less airbrush and more brush work and no NMM. Also I much prefer painting female faces than men's. 55444943_2117435554976387_4065215704196972544_n.jpg

Very nice work as always. Also, thoughtful musings on painting, community, and affirmation. I agree with you. In fact that’s why I post things on this website also. I know that I’m a reasonably accomplished painter but kind words or likes from this community really encourage me to try harder, push my technique better and get things finished. In the real world no one is really interested in this miniature one that fills up my idle thoughts so sharing means a lot to me. ;-)

Firstoff, the "technical" level of painting on the Garuda is amazing!

To give you constructive feedback on the color scheme: I am also not very convinced by it. At least with the color impression of your photo (and my monitor..), the greenish hue of the grey doesn't interact well with the orange. My first guess would be to change the hue of the grey to something that is a blue, maybe with a hint of turquiose, but I think that might look a bit odd when next to your YJ minis. Maybe go for "clean" white with a bit more yellow stripes than you currently have and add some dark grey sections if the white/grey combo makes the mini lack contrast.

    Hope this helps!
