Just noticed the Panoceania Army Pack Kickstarter Pledge. Which is all Varuna... and a Tik. While the Tik is dope and makes everything better, Varuna doesn't have any business getting access to it. So what are we looking at? 1. A "Beyond Vanilla" box that is wildly misleading. An incentive to spend more money on perfeclty good models in a odd one out situation - even though it's a good deal. 2. Photoshop screw up and that TAG should be a Squalo. 3. Varuna is getting a Tik (what? why? guess I'd happily take it, but WTF) With Acon being "discontinued" and MO having an off brand version the Tik could be argued to lack a home Sectorial (but so what, same goes for all other Acon troops). I can see that happen if we put the fluff where the sun doesn't shine and pretend it doesn't exist for now. Mechanically I'd be thrilled to have it. Balancing wise I'd argue it makes Varuna flat out better, don't think that would be healthy for the game. Option 1 seems the most likely, still leaves one wondering.
I think it's just a mash-up box, not intended as any single sectorial. #1, or something similar. I seriously doubt Varuna will get Tik. Most reinforcement boxes are indeed sectorial-focused, but Nomads are completely mixed up (Intruder, Kriza, Zoe, Morlocks), so PanO being kind of middle of the road seems plausible.
I think it means they needed a 40mm based model to replace the Gamma and PanO doesn't have any S5 HI.
Really, that starts being ridiculous… Defiance is its own game using Infinity miniatures. Reinforcement packs are just a bunch of miniatures to play with in Defiance instead of cardboard tokens. That's the point, they are thought for Defiance therefore it's not their purpose to cater Infinity players with expansion packs for their armies and much less thinking specifically in sectorials. It's easy to see they packed a Tikbalang in because they needed a big boy to be played as boss and PanO doesn't use super heavy infantries because of their high technology light TAGs. Main battle TAGs might be too much for Defiance, realize Xeodron and Tikbalang are the only TAGs at moment.
It would have been very elegant if the Defiance expansion was also playable in Infinity. I agree that having high AVA Kamau and Zulu Cobras that don't work in Vanilla... But a Tik that doesn't work in VIRD... Is slightly awkward. But I agree that it's probably for the sake of looks and expediency in Defiance. That being said, daydreaming about a VIRD Tikbalang is pretty fun.
Yeah. It's for Defiance. You literally can't even buy it without picking up Defiance. I wouldn't read ANYTHING into it regarding unit availability in Infinity.
I don’t think that’s correct. There’s nothing stopping someone pledging $1 and then picking up reinforcement boxes in the pledge manager. At least that’s how KS usually work I still don’t think the content of the boxes mean anything for Infinity, but they’re certainly great bargains, even split between factions.
Though I should be able to pledge low for now, and then increase the pledge in the manager and then get addons, right? I'm not sure, it's just my second KS.
I wouldnt mind a new stingray TAG that is aquatic. I'd rather not have the tikbalang turn into the village bicycle for PanO.
