I see the sphinx is not on the Infinity web store so I'm presuming its OOP. Are there any rumors on it being resculpted? Also, is it really worth 106 points?
The new design dropped along with the rest of the Shas redesign. Frankly I was a bit surprised to see that, but there it is. No renders so far, however. As to your other question... yes. Every. Single. Point.
Yes, we saw concepts during the Daddy's Fall release hype. Yes, an invisible 6-6 climbing+ TAG with Spitfire and twin heavy flamers is absolutely worth the points, it's in the running for best TAG in the game.
I hope they will make something cool with the sculpt. Like making it creep and crawl. All creepy like. The design isn’t exactly breaking new ground.
Looks like the old sculpt won’t be completely obsolete. Might have to try some dual Sphinx lists next year. (Or whenever; I’m just guessing)
Okay so one of our guys Sphinxed me and did it wrong last month. Its not a TAG. Its not Heavy Infantry. Its a ninja robot of death that fights in three dimensions. You creep it about wrecking face at short to medium range wreaking havoc and with the last order fade back into Camo. Worth every damn point.
Mate, we're talking about an invisible Hulk that moves as fast as a bike, hits as hard as an HMG, can reach pretty much any place in the game, and generates two orders by itself. Oh, and it needs to take 5 wounds to be removed from the table. It is very much worth those points. Just don't get into range of flame weapons.
Just curious: how would you build such a list? My initial (very very bad) list is 2 Sphinx, 2 Ikadrons, 5 combi Nox with the LT and no further upgrades
It's very difficult to go for any different build than something very basic. Double Sphinx leaves very little room for any support structure. This ITS season really helps with its TAGtical Awareness. But it all hinges on how effectively we can use both Sphinxes.
@Stiopa @ZlaKhon While its intimidating to have 2 sphinxes, the lack of orders is a problem. I wouldn't even think of putting 2 in a battlegroup with only 9 regular orders. Even with Tactical awareness its seams short. If you HAD to play 2 I think that list is optimal (which I think is Stiopas point) Plus having Victor Messer drop a white noise lets a sphinx take out anything with MSV easily. Any army without MSV is going to have issues fighting him anyway. I would look at the following as a decent Sphinx list. Victor for white noise Cutthroat to duo with victor Cadmus to drop decoys and take out annoying deployables, (Mines & Perimeter equipment) Noctiofier to get killer AROs Because its limited insertion, the Mentors counter intelligence was not really needed. I think a 5 man Nox team is a good place to hide a Lt. A couple FO for longer range AROs & specialists. If I’m taking a dual TAG list, I’m not planning on running a balanced army. It’s just a silly list I’m playing for a lark.
