Also, we know from the Defiance demo game intro that O-12 itself is partially compromised - all it needs is someone saying that Cadin has been replaced/coerced/bribed etc...
Nope, not works, it ends like: /insert random polite answer Hello Spitfire_TheCat, Good idea!! Thanks for the suggestion!
Some math because I don't anything else to do. So far the average pledge is around 200€ By calculating the amount of the raw pledges (pledge type x backer for each) and removing it from the total, the average extra is around 15€. Just to have a rough idea, it would represent an average of 1/3 of backers have added one reinforcement pack. If considering an all-in pledge is a platinum + 265€ it would represent less than 200 all-ins. Obviously, those calculations are completely useless, which makes them absolutely required.
Yes, what I find impressive from these calculations (and the one I did myself as well) is the average pledge. Which means, the average backer is pledging more than the deluxe pledge. I think that's rather impressive.
I'm a bit surprised by those numbers (which do mean absolutely nothing) as I would expected more extra (only 1/10 of the platinum pledge would be all-in). Even if it's completely understandable that only a few will get all the factions, I though more backers would have added their faction reinforcement. It is my understanding that most player own more than one faction but I may be completely wrong here. How it could be interpreted is: - the average Infinity player already own the reinforcement content for their faction - most backer are more focus on the Defiance part than the Infinity stuff for low price (which I would consider as a good thing) EDIT: - people are waiting the final days to see where they would put their extra bucks (which definitely makes more sense than everything else I can write) Please keep in mind that all those considerations are the fruit of a very bored mind (mine).
1 and 3 are definitely what's influencing me, personally I'm in for the Morats pack as I don't have any of the models (not a CA player... yet) and it has the least overlap with retail boxes. I'm waiting for the Backerkit before I think about getting any more due to budget reasons, but my thoughts on them are as follows: Onyx: Large amounts of crossover with existing boxes, If I wanted to run a Xeodron Haris I'd end up with a duplicate Xeodron after buying the box, same for the Unidron. Morats: Only one duplicate (Oznat) from other boxes, all models included are pretty useful, I don't own any yet. PanO: I already own a Tik and don't need/want a second. I plan to buy the Varuna starter so that creates quite a bit overlap. Aleph: This is a good deal as you've got two entire boxes included, it's very tempting to add to the Aleph I have left over from Coldfront+Beyond. I would have two duplicates but they're S2 minis so that's less of a drag. Yu Jing: Also a good deal, a 4th Kuang Shi would have made it perfect, but the Celestial Guard KSCD is a model you can legitimately use two of in a list. A good box that in not buying becausecI have little interest in YJ or IS.
I can only write for myself: the reason I don't add any reinforcements to my pledge are first and foremost lacking funds. I'm at platinum Level and will have some small xtra cash for things like dice tray or card sleeves. I have an selfset line of 300€ and I hope that I won't have to invest any more than that to get all KS exclusive stuff. Second ist that I'm at the beginning of collecting CA and with that I want to have both Xeodron and all Unidrons. I don't like the composition of the reinforcements and although they are at a very tempting Price I will give them a pass cause I can have the Minis later on.
This Kickstarter is no so subtling promoting Platinum. Not so impressive most backers are getting the whole game (250€) because otherwise you would have less options. Outcast is not an expansion, but the evolution of the Core, which is not a Core but a Starter...
I don't agree completely, I think the Core Game plus Expansion would be very playable as well. But ... doesn't matter. Regarding the Reinforcement Packs ... At first they irritated me ... it looked like this is getting pretty expensive. But the more factions they released with cards and reinforcement Packs my perception changed. Now I see it more like 'They are giving me the option to play the factions I already own in Defiance and if ... only if ... I want to expand my collection or buy into a new faction I am given the option to get the reinfocement packs. And this at a very good price.' So our Group (for playing Defiance) will for sure get some Reinforcement Packs, but not nearly every one. Maybe two.
The game is designed to be played with just the core set. So yes, Outcast is explicitly an optional expansion that isn't needed.
It is not if we consider re-playability, which is specifically enhanced in Outcast with the mission generator. Even included in the Core Pledge or as sepparate Add-onn instead of being in a 70€ "expansion" (Which seemed purely thematic, allowing you to play in the Human Sphere, but is not, because contains key mechanics update) I will be fine with. That is besides we had more than 100.000€ of funding just providing stretch goals to Outcast, and not the Core, Collector's or Deluxe Pledges. So far, it is pretty clear that the complete game is 250€. An expansion would be something you may (or not) have without affecting core game, based on new options, environment, heroes, foes, etc. Mission generator is pretty Core, IMO.
Hmm... seems about right. Mission Generator is something like the quintessential Expansion. In a Core Game (be it a Board Game or a Computer Game) you get the first missions to play the game and if you like the game you can expand from that ... with a Mission Generator.
Well i'm happy to say one guy in our group is getting it! One other had to back out. No idea what level but still, I'm sure i'll at least get to play some.
The main reason I'm not getting the reinforcements is because of the awkward unit composition for infinity (and money of course) Many of those I own, and the boxes that I don't own have stuff I don't want, like I would get the ALEPH box but I don't want devas or the character
What Smokey said. I'm toying with the idea of grabbing the Morat pack because I've always kinda wanted to play 'em and there's minimal overlap if I decide to do so (actually, there didn't have to be any--they could've picked the Oznat from the blister instead of the starter). But then I'd have to assemble Hungries... I do like that they're available at a good price for players who just want to play Defiance with them though!
