So it would appear that there will be a Saladin sculpt in the Outcast expansion for Defiance, do you think that means we’ll be getting a new profile or will it be an O-12 only profile or the existing profile? Thoughts? Hopes? Wishes?
I very much hope he is getting an update in Haqq. Its overdue imho. While his skills are quite useful, I feel he is paying a bit too much, for what he does. Often its just better to use three Ghillim instead. Thats one order and two potential Lieutanants more. It would also be nice to have useful loadout that isnt the Lieutanant. Or scrap the non Lieutanant profile, because its pointless. Anyway, I really like the new sculpt as well as the old. So I would very much welcome a incentive to use him more often.
The new sculpt is armed with Aleph CCW rather than Haqq CCW, and the weapons pictured on his dossier are the O-12/Aleph-issue (though PanO made, of course). The dress / armor seems O-12, too. And I feel the haircut is somewhat YJ in character. So, I'd say my hopes ain't high...
Yeah, I'm very upset with this new Saladin. Just doesn't look good IMHO or just even don't look arabic / Kurdish at all. I don't like it and can't even express that enough ;) About his profile - I still think he's the best LT we can have. Doesn't need any changes, but if they make him bit cheaper than I'd be glad. Just don't bloat his skills and stuff and make him more expensive. And our Saladin with Spitfire just don't feel right ;) PozdRawiam / Greetings P.S. I'm a bit of Saladin's fan. Fanatic? Oh well :P
But the profiles do not always spill into the original faction. Eg. Scarface in DBS vs Scarface in QK...

yeah, i share this feeling. I try not to be... resentful... but it's kinda hard to see O-12 super optimized with no loose ends and not be jealous
yeah, and i know that CB is selling miniatures and needs that people buy some so they keep supporting our beloved game, but i want to play with the armies i have and feel the same love they are giving to those new hotnesses.
I don't know but 0-12 actually have a strategos l1 lt Both a lv1 and lv3 maybe are too for vanilla without any sectorial
Yeah, he's more likely than not going to show up in Haqq as an update to profile or a V2. Cautiously waiting for more info.
Overcosted? I think the weight of strategos 2-3 is being undervalued. There are only 4 profiles in the game with lvl3: Saladin, Sun Tze, Avatar, and Maruts. At 36 points he’s a steal. The inclusion of a lvl 3 Lt in the other armies is a list warning choice due to the points cost. Not so for us. We can even include CoC to mitigate vulnerability if we’re worried and the combined cost of both is still cheaper than all other offerings save Sun Tze (and even then it’s about equivalent compared to the more popular Sun profile). If he gets an updated profile he might lose a point or two come N4 if there’s a more streamlined formula, but I doubt he’s going to get any more optimized as he’s already very lean. If he gets a V2, based on precedent of other troops that get V2s, I can only imagine it will be a more expensive profile (or at least similarly costed profile, considering how cheap he is) that adds options to the model that will let it me used in ways different to the original. (E.g. Achilles 2 being less tough but faster and more aggressive, or Sun 2 being more fragile but a better active turn attacker). As for O12 getting access, that makes sense to me based on his fluff. The only way Aleph could get Haqq forces to accept him as a commander during Paradiso was for him to be created to serve as Bureau Aegis operative that was loaned to Haqq during the campaign to oversee joint operations between factions. It’s even in his name: Saladin O12 Liaison Officer. He’s not a liaison officer to 012, but from 012.
