Dem questions keep poppin up! a) can you doctor or paramedic a designated target or high value target? b) if smoke is thrown touching a model, does a dodge/change facing from that model negate the smoke? c) can you throw smoke on top of a parapet from the ground to put smoke on a roof? d) can you spend a LT order on a model in a link to have them leave the link, or do you need to break that link first? Thanks for the assist
I think so, as Doctor doesn't have Friendly trooper as a requirement. Could be wrong though, you also risk killing it. Only if the Dodge would get the trooper clear of the Smoke, if it is still touching the smoke template at the end of the order it will be in the smoke (remember that Dodge is a normal roll vs a BS Attack with Smoke) Yes but it'll usually be speculative fire if you don't have LoF to the top of the parapet. Spending the Lt. Order is called out as removing a trooper from the Fireteam in the Fireteam Integrity rules so the rest of the Fireteam won't break, unless of course the Lt. was the Fireteam leader.
a) I think yes, unless it gets ruled otherwise. Doctor does not require a friendly trooper and DVT are considered troopers for skills. b) It will not be a face to face but being affected by a template generates an ARO of which dodge is allowed. So you can move out of the smoke, but can't "negate" it. c) I don't think its 100% clear. But to keep things from being wacky I would generally play it as smoke requiring a flat surface as a target. In which case you don't have LoF to the top of the parapet. So, no. d) Spending the Lt order will drop the Lt out of the fireteam. Just make sure they're not the leader when you do it! As that will cancel the team.
On C) Noting that nothing in Targetless allows you to avoid the 3x3mm rule for LOF. If you can't see those 3x3mm that you're targeting then you'll need speculative fire.
Smoke is a really annoying rule because some important interactions have been left hidden as if they are afterthoughts. Since Smoke isn't an attack, it won't trigger Guts Rolls. Hidden under Smoke: "Smoke and Speculative Fire Certain weapons that use Smoke Special Ammunition allow the user to use the Speculative Fire Common Skill. In that case, the Common Skill Speculative Fire works normally, even though it is a Special Dodge and not an Attack." For reference, Guts Rolls requirements: "Surviving one or more successful Attacks from weapons, types of Equipment or Hacking Programs with the Non-Lethal Trait, or that do not provoke ARM or BTS Rolls."
