Got an event coming up, two actually, that run unmasking as a mission. I *hate* unmasking with a passion and have never had any success with it in all my years of playing it. I'm currently trying to decide between Nomads or Tohaa to take to the events and am wondering what people's answers in Tohaa are for this mission. I've got these questions for people to help get the ball rolling; What datatrackers do you prefer and why? What is your general game plan when going first or going second? What do you use to protect your HVTs or contest the objectives? I'm currently liking the look of the double surda Kerail or a linked Sukuel nullifier (for fighting jammers) as datatrackers. Getting smoke on the profile or in the link is great for escorting a no-markerstate model across the board, and they both bring symbiobombs/mates, multiple wounds, and bodies for clearing mines and defenders. Clipsos seems the obvious choice for button pushing, likely combined with makauls smoking up the areas as needed. I don't know if triads or a datatracker triad in particular would be a great option for button pushing. I'm considering if Keesan is good in this role - super efficient at button pushing and the sensor can help clear the camospam I'm always facing. Going second and on defense, Tohaa has durable and effective BS ARO options that I don't really find in vanilla Nomads. Gao Rael wearing mates absorb orders and guts to preserve your own orders, as well as slowing warbands and sometimes getting lucky and killing stuff. I am wondering if people recommend any of the symbiobomb options or the few ways we get symbiobugs as HVT defense - or is it better to rely on the link team AROs?
i love the Kerail Datatracker with 1 surda and 1 Simbiobomb And to advance and push botons the Triad Sukeul K1 + Kriigel Pherobooster + Makaul works for me, but you can also use a Draal triad or any kind of triad with a Sakiel or Kamael specialists
Yeah we're not exactly starved for options. So you opt for a kind of dedicated button triad with no firepower? Why the Kriigel, you find the jammer just that good or is there something I'm missing? Why just one surda? Two seems so legitimate if he needs to clear through lots of area denial or to really lock down his hidey hole in the middle of the table. The footprint is an issue but the points don't seem to be. Also big thanks for replying, this forum seems to be pretty light on actual army discussion at the moment and I don't know anywhere else to talk about it online lol
Well, it's just based on my expertise, the Sukeul K1 triad with Kriigel works quite good for me thanks the Eclipse Grenade of the Makaul, Kriigel is excelent to try to nullify the Chain/Flame templates units, and Sukeul K1 is good flanking and doing misions, Also a Draal triad works as well as Sukeul's, but with other "range" options I use just 1 Surda, because it cost 20pts, and i like to build a 15+ order list, but you can take the Kerail with 2 Surdas for 28, it will perform better results than Kerail 1 Surda of course! But the important thing is that the Kerail gets de HVT with SMG or with Simbiobomb Endgame pheroware tactic And for defense don't worry, you have Libertos Minelayer, Draal with Mines, Clipsos, Impersonator, Sukeul Misile Launcher or Gao Rael Sniper, you have quite nasty units to prevent the enemy goes with happy movements hehehehe :p
Well Tohaa is the best faction in Infinity the Game and we excel in both defense and offense, so protecting our HVTs shouldn't be a problem. I like taking Rasail Lieutenant spitfire as a datatracker. He is tough and more than capable on winning the firefights on his own. I usually try to go first and send in a Draal triad to kill all the pesky ARO, discover one of the HVTs and ideally kill the enemy datatracker. Then park the attacking triad somewhere near the opponent deployment zone and leave him with a choice of either ignoring a Draal triad (with maybe even a Kriigel living jammer inside) and going for objectives or spending most of their orders attacking a Draal triad. It's always good to remember, that you can use some orders to take your Deisgnated Target HVT in the CivEvac state and then hide it. Probably not worth it in the first turn. But if opponent discoveres your real HVT, but lacks orders to kill her you can always evacuate her to safety.
I wanted to like the Rasail for that role, but he really struggles against strong ARO and can't always get the spitfire rangeband to engage it at. The extra orders needed to bring up makaul smoke make me favour either a kerail or a triad-based datatracker quite heavily.
Don't worry for that, if a Makaul Triad is on group 1 for example, you can move easy the Rasail of group 2, with the LT order and the other few orders, to a safe place or to a range bonus place The Eclipse Smoke save orders, because you can do better and optimal movements once that smoke is landed :D
Thats the key dilemma - do I commit to smoke with the datatracker or assume I have orders to deliver it. That depends on the list as a whole - torn between tohaa gun teams with symbiomates or a borings style mass makaul fuckpile with a datatracker in it.
If you have the oportunity to play a few games before that game, you will get your own conclusions, there is nothing more important than playing the way you want, and we talk about experience, that include the "local meta" and the "scenery habits of the playzone", maybe is a lot diferent mine than yours, so play, play and play, and tell us your conclusions, they will help us too! :D Feedback is always cool for everyone :D
