Thanks to a friends generosity and someone dropping out, I was able to participate in the team tournament at Dragonfall. A local all mini game convention. It was 6 3-man teams, playing 3 games on the first day and 2 on the second. Safe Area, Supplies, Capture & Protect. Countermeasure & Firefight

I played Ikari of course but was horribly unprepared to play 5 games over two days. I made lists and painted up a fat yuan yuan the night before. So at least I was all painted. I should have put more work into my lists. I did pretty poor all weekend. I had not chance to prepare for any mission. Funny I actually won the mission i’ve only ever played once (Counter Measures) but it was the night before.

Safe Area vs. IA Loss 0-10
Highlight: Pangguling doing a dodge engage into a Yuan Yuan, then YY rolling a 6 in CC and became paralized.

    Supplies vs. OSS Tie 1-1
Highlight: Taking down a Marut with Tanko ML in ARO after about 6 orders trying to take out the Tanko.

Capture & Protect vs. OSS Tie 0-0

Counter measures vs. Hassasins Win 7-4

    Firefight vs. NCA loss 1-5
Highlight: getting a HMG for a Keisotsu. Lost this one because in 3rd turn Bipantra brought back Aquila Guard. Went from 5-1 win to 1-5 loss.

    Things I learned.
    • We don’t have much that can accomplish classified missions. D-Charges need to get all the way to the other side,
    • The only Veteran troops are Druze.
    • Karakuri are awesome and I wish I had two fo them.
    • Do NOT put your lone ninja in a group of nothing but Irregular and Impetuous. I don’t know what I was thinking. And I couldn’t even move him to the other group either becasue i was out of command tokens or no one was actually dead, just unconscious and wouldn’t allow for him to move into the group.
I wish I could say I did well for Ikari but it was just not to be. But I did have fun and met some great guys. That was the goal all along so good job me! :)

It's always challenging jumping into a tournament under-prepared. Good work keeping your spirits up and having realistic expectations.

I'd be keen to see the lists, and hear a bit more about how the Countermeasures game went with Ikari. I haven't played that mission yet, and like you say Ikari can struggle with classified objectives.

I'm almost embarrassed by the list. :flushed:

I can't believe I did that with the Ninja.

This list I used for all but Counter Measures. I felt like using the other other list but it was lacking for some of those missions. It especially had too many specialists for Firefight.

@Fathoym In answer to your question, CM wasn't too bad. Luckily I didn't have cards that didn't have a need for Vets, Elites, or Chain of Command. But it's why i took the Druze. They cover Vets, MI, and Hacker.
The nice thing about CM is that when your turn comes up, you can take away a card you can't or don't want to do! I was able to replace one i couldn't do for one I could.
Something that saved me was I moved my Karakuri up. Got a Forward Observe, took a wound, then the Engineer moved up and brought it back to full wounds. Got two cards just with those.

Ikari have three veteran troops: Druze, Al-Fasid and Yojimbo (see ITS rules).
IMO the best choices in Ikari to accomplish classified missions are Ninja AHD, Druze AHD and Karakuris. Remember that KHD doesn't have spotlight program :disappointed_relieved:

I thought of Al Fasid but thought he might not make it to what he needs to do. Some of those Vet missions are getting into base contact with something.

Armand again really doesn’t want to move even though he has FD Lev1.

I did take Yojimbo and he was at least great for putting crazy koalas next to my HVTs to protect them.

The Ninja KHD was great because he killed Lila Sharif and got Data Scan.

So really that mission wasn’t that bad. It was all of the others i sucked at!

I also recently played a tactical window ikari ITS. Enjoyed the challenge of making it work with less stuff, I agree with bringing less than 4 YYs, 15 models can't support the full 4 and you do need to manage pools tightly. Daiyokai actually has a point in a limited format now the NCO grants you a sweet bonus order, has repeatedly done great work for me on hunting party. So cool to see someone else experimenting with the druze duo, did they do work?

The Druze Duo was great actually. I mainly used it to efficiently move them up and then the KHD put Cyber Mask on and that took away the Duo. But i used the other to go up against some Mutts. Go ahead and jammer! I will definitely try it again. I’m not a fan of the Haris just because of the Haris guy is meh.

I always forget about cybermask, made good use of the veteran freebie ADH on the druze for hunting party. Strangely Ive not played against jammers in ages. Druze seem better as single pieces to me, KHD makes a decent button pusher (in ikari) with his forward deployment and odd selection of skills, it would be hard to convince me to spend the 1swc and buy 3 of them. Hacker (either or) plus the LGL seems like the sweet spot so the duo feels like a natural bonus rather than a forced fireteam of things you'd otherwise avoid.

Personally I love the Druze but not so much in their own faction. I really like the Duo of a KHD and any other as a "body guard". Especially the Panzerfaust that adds a lot of punch. I've thought of a Shock Marksman Rifle or HMG for missions that need to stay on an objective.
