I know, still nothing happened yet. Yes, the statement was not very clear, I assumed 44 miniatures myself, but till now noone backed the Kickstarter (or was lured into backing), because it's not up yet. So, if some unclear wording is blamed for not backing something, can't we wait till the "real" kickstarter. Maybe the Kickstarter itself is worded very clear, so everyone knows what he/she is backing and what not? Maybe we'll then get some new infos before the Kickstarter begins ...
Fanbois gotta fanboi, I guess. Yes, the wording was unclear, I can guarantee that as a linguist, translator and editor of English. The self-denial of CB wording something unclearly, after having played their ruleset and witnessed thousands of flamewars about RAW/RAI here, is just unreal :D And yes, if one was on the fence about maaaaybe still preordering the top tier if it was really 44 miniatures and then found out that there was a quarter fewer of them, it's not so weird that they are turned off from the prospect after all. But I guess for some people the company can do no wrong.
You're coming off really mean spirited and it's making me pretty uncomfortable. Bring on the kickstarter campaign so I can avoid relying on this subforum for updates
Shhh... don’t you know the proper way to response to a misunderstanding like that is a tantrum and hurling accusations of bad faith, both at the company and those who are OK with it? Stopping and saying (if, like me, you misunderstood) “oh, OK, it’s just a really good deal, rather than an unbelievably good deal” and moving forward, or (if you didn’t misunderstand in the first place) saying “I, personally, wasn’t confused”, coupled with noting how the complaints seem overwrought, is entirely the wrong approach.
Yeah, sure, I bet you can explain away all the miscommunication fro mthe company throughout the years and the lack of QA and basic editing in the books we pay for and rules we get for free.
It’s life, and a game I play and minis I paint to relieve stress, not to cause it. And, perhaps, speaking, reading and writing Spanish and Portuguese does mean I don’t notice it as much as someone else, since I’m fine with an incorrect phrase that’s using English words in a Spanish way. However, it this particular case, yeah, I’m going to snicker at someone being in a tizzy that the communication made them think 44 minis rather than 32 for ~$230.
I read it and parsed it as 44 minis. 12 in the base set and 32 MORE in the deluxe set, for a total of 44 in the deluxe set. I spent 5 years of my life as a technical writer in the US Navy.
I also read it that way (and posted here saying as much) but they were also very quick to correct the announcement on social media when it was pointed out.
But before it was pointed out and corrected, and the original announcement, it was what, at least a month or two of us believing there were 44 minis. There was even a whole subthread here about what the other "missing" enemies could be. Turns out there aren't that many unrevealed minis. We also know NOTHING about planned stretch goals or if there will be any at all, especially in the form of miniatures. The Kickstarter starts in TWO DAYS. Their communication about it ABSOLUTELY SHIT.
Whoa there. First off, they corrected the announcement of model count within an hour or two, not sure where you're getting a couple of months from. You can actually see in the thread on this forum me posting the announcement from FB and Admiral JCJF posting the correction. Why would they give away everything before the Kickstarter had even started? Is that normal? The other KSers I've done have announced stretch goals during the campaign, some even kept back to the last few days or hours, or is this like having an announcement for a teaser for a trailer like they do with movies now.
No, you're mistaking the time between their statement and the retraction with the time that had passed since we've "known" how many miniatures there were supposed to be (Carlos talking Defiance up in videos, leaks, their confirmations on the forum, reports from game previews and conflicting information from there, etc.). Also, many Kickstarters preview their page a month or a few before actual kickoff, precisely so that people can gather funds for the Kick, with full knowledge what's involved, whether there are stretch goals at all (sometimes they are hidden, other times most are openly stated), whether there is a "Kickstart with $1, add more after Kickstarter is done" option, so on. The Kickstarter kicks off in 2 days and we know virtually NOTHING about it and not a lot about the game.. This isn't any kind of normal.
Carlos has never mentioned concrete miniature numbers apart from saying the collector's box was 2-3x free Core (I was there for one of those seminars). Which, uh, almost exactly describes the actual numbers we got in the end.
