Hello there! After some years playing this wonderful game I finally decided to paint my minis (shame on me), starting with my most recent ones, since it would be less of a burden to finish them before doing anything else. Asteroid Blues going on and playing O-12 this year (instead of my usual PanOceanians), so here the first mini I painted to test my scheme: I have posted more photos on my personal blog, and this test mini done I already started the full set, as I've a battle tomorrow and want them to be done for it.
ok that's almost PO XD a tip about black - when you do black after you are done - get and give it a glaze of pure black in shadows - it make things look clean and usualy fix contrast as in proces of shading black we get mostly grey instade of nice black - im not gona torture you with tutorials how to paint black like a pro - you are not yet there to bother with this ;) but make a black glaze in shadows
Yay, I'm mostly just a "beginner" painter, aiming for Tabletop+ standards. =) I did a black glaze on all blacks part already, but I'll try to reinforce that in the future I guess. Thanks all for feedbacks.
not on all black parts in this way you will just reduce over all brightnes of the element you want to get black glaze in the shadows
Asteroid Blues being done, and despite my best motivation, I didn't make it in time to finish my O-12 minis, but now it's done! So here are the other Kappas to go with the previous one: And a group photo for this fierce cheerleaders of all Human Sphere!
Great job your minis. This O-12 force you're building is going to look great on the tabletop. Has there been any news as to the winner/winners of the recently ended campaign? I understand that the Lore effects come out a month or so later but has CB released any statements?
I don't know, probably the final rush for Defiance's kickstarter is taking them too much time atm. In the meantime, new shots for you all of Cyberius TaskForce units with Agent Terezi, my local Gangbuster, and my good Delta Doctor, who thrown a lot of good work during the campaign! And a small preview of next unit in the list...
The Wreathed Skull is definitely a 40k decal, and I think the blue/white circled number is, too. Imperial Guard stuff. Not sure about the O12 lettering.
Yeah, most of them are 40K, as a long time player, but I've also looted some third party decals too (and now official Infinity ones), like the "O12" decal - just a 01234569789 decal cutted at three first numbers. But I shouldn't rely much on them as it's difficult for me to apply too big one or ones on curved surfaces... But for now, the following "greeky" units, with my Epsilon and my Gamma (good guys, hitting hard everytime): It was my first time painting such a large piece in a long time but it was very cool, and the NMN is looking great on it, best try at it so far to me (never tried to paint that way before painting my O-12).
For curved surfaces you can use decal softeners products. The main problem is you have to make teste to be sure they are compatible with the decal you use, and they can be expensive. For cheap solutions you can use rubbing alcohol, vinegar, but still you hace to make tests.
I'll try that, thanks (I have the exact same problem, even worse, with my newest GW minis, too much curvy smooth surfaces to deal with for decals). Let's finish that round of O-12 minis from WildFire with my beloved Sirius team, the true hero of Asteroid Blues for me (for those who have read my batrep): I had a hard time dealing with Chandra's - my Sirius bot owner - coat, because I wanted it to be in the same tone of smooth clothes the rest of the army have, but it's really plain with almost no details. Same goes for the bot, I find it lacking a lot of "creativity", I could have put more colors on it to makes it more outstanding in the crowd, but well, at least it's something. Pretty proud of the bases on these ones. I received last week my madtraps and my O-12 HVT - as well as some cybermask markers, so this will be the next thing on the paint table as soon as they are assembled and spray-coated.
@Lady Numiria great and clean job! Can you tell me more about the bases, they are very cool, it's freehand or you use something to do them?
