What happens if troops like Posthumans or Puppetactica get an AVA increase (from the Support Force Spec. in Daedelus Falls)? How is the AVA increase applied?
For a previous question to Hellois (before DF's), Posthumans would get an extra AVA of a certain body. So you don't get another Posthuman, but can deploy another copy of a body. For example, 2 mk4 bodies, or 2 mk1, or 2 mk2, per application. There would still be a limit of 3 bodies tops. As the Puppeteer, that one I don't know, frankly. No, characters can't get extra AVA on the table. We "ruled", however, that you can buy extra AVA to recover a totally dead character.
The way I see it having 2 Puppetmasters allows you to bring two Troupes, but the puppets remain at AVA 3 so would have to be split between them.
Part of the problem is that "What happens if troops like Posthumans get an AVA increase?" is that you're asking a question expecting something to exist which doesn't exist. What "Posthuman" troop profile are you trying to apply the AVA increase to? There isn't one. Or, more specifically, there are currently five. The only profiles that exist for a Posthuman are the profiles for the proxies. You can apply the AVA modification to the proxies, if you want. Doing that won't change any of the Ghost:Jumper mechanics. This isn't an attempt to be cutesy or lawyerly concerning the bonus. This is Posthumans being subject to the same result that Antipodes are: You're applying an AVA modifier to a troop profile, not some abstract game concept.
Nope, the Posthuman is the "consciousness" (order) that orders the five Proxies (mk 1 to 5) bodies around. RAW, you would be able to increase the posthuman to 2... but for the fact that Posthuman, as such, has no AVA, only the bodies do. So Helllois indicated (mind you, before Daedalus' Fall) that you can increase the AVA of one body per use, with no repeats, but you can't escape the limit clause of 2 to 3 proxy bodies. Anyway, it's semantics. The problem I can see with this is that you could increase the AVA of the puppetmaster to 2 and the one for the Puppets to 4, the first option not being a problem at all (but it's the cheapest hacker Tunguska can deploy, and a really cheap minelayer) and the second, well, they follow the Fireteam:Core rules of 2-3 members depending on how many there are. So, a small mess XD
That's fine, with AVA 2 Controllers you can have a Troupe of 1 and a Troupe of 2, with AVA 4 puppets you can have a pair of 2 member Troupes, or one of 3 and one singleton. Or you can have two Puppetmasters, one controlling a Troupe and the other running around doing their own thing.
RAW you could have 4 puppets in a Fireteam Core getting the benefits of 2-3 members, I think... So no SS2, but a spare
The first line of the skill: REQUIREMENTS The player must place up to three PuppetBots, known as a Troupe, with their Controller. Emphasis mine
There are some similar weird warts for Dog-Warrior type troops in Vanilla Ariadna, since they all share a single AVA of 2.
