Have you tried the mission? What are the major lessons learned?

I have still to try it but am thinking that big midfield presence+Drop troopers should be good. Maybe i’m wrong...

the exclusion zone is rough on drop troopers and infiltraters. The Asrura HD+ as your dattracker can do 16 of the 20 classifieds.
    Lessons:
Having enemy corpses is super helpful for a number of classifieds.
    Mission first

Played vanilla aleph against my buddies Ramada twice now in countermeasures. Lost the first one but the second go around I went with a lot of forward deploying units , pat and dart to protect and push flanks. Second game 10 to 6 for me...
Still at tight game squeaked it out in the last round

Had one match to try the mission. Too dependant on luck :/

I used list with Asura which was quite good apart from several mistakes I made. It was against Varuna and it held.

Problem was most of the objectives require to be close to enemy or hvt. And while Asura is nice becaus she can do at least half alone and be the datatracker, she is also somewhat fragile in the sense that if you leave her forward she will be picked up by enemies easily and loosing her is tough since she is one mighty egg.

Was thinking on trying something with hypolita but cant seem to find an optimal list... also exclusion zone is killer... but you still need things that hold up in middle of tavle but you cant have all camo or tou wont have specilists

    Any insights?

Don't forget that you can CaseEvac your HVTs and pull them back to more protected spots. Almost as important as scoring in this mission is denial. Your remotes can be a penalty in that aspect as they will stay in sight after being knocked unconscious and all of our Remote Presence needs one more wound than a normal unit to take it off the table. That can give your opponent a good opportunity to scre objectives that require an enemy target.

I haven't played the mission yet myself, but I try with a mix of defense to slow them down and prevent points while using one or two units per round to really try and score as many objectives as you can. Aleph has a nice boost in that as many of our units are more versatile than other factions and can open up those opportunities.

I haven't played it with Vanilla. The way I see the mission though, there are two important pieces
    • accomplish the cards
    • kill your opponent's data tracker and anything that can accomplish the mission
With this in mind, midfield camo is great. Dart is exceptional as she can kill just about anything without much trouble. There could even be an argument made for a superior infiltrating Andromeda, although I would not make that argument. In Steel Phalanx, I've been trying out Hippolyta and she is quite an accomplished murder machine. I still think Penthesilea and Diomedes are more efficient options, but Hippolyta is fun and can be an interesting addition to a vanilla list that needs to get some killing done.

Garudas and Ekdromoi are great for eliminating squishy specialists hiding in the deployment zone.

As for the first bullet point, bringing a variety of specialists and troop types is crucial. Machaon is a great option as he's speedy, resilient, can get places with eclipse, and can accomplish a solid number of the deck between being a doctor, specialist, and character. Midfield hackers and forward observers are all useful to have as getting the missions accomplished with as few orders as possible.

If you bring the Asura hacker, she can accomplish a lot of missions, but she's not fast and starts in the deployment zone. Using cybermask and tucking her behind a building is key if you bring her up the table because she can't be spec fired or hacked until someone gets eyes on her. This can make it a little harder to kill her, or at least more order intensive and give you a chance to protect her with mines, snipers, or other hackers.

    I'd try something like this:

    Shakti, Dart, Hippolyta
    ──────────────────────────────────────────────────

    GROUP 1[IMG] [IMG] [IMG]10 [IMG]1
DART Submachine Gun, Viral Tactical Bow, Antipersonnel Mines / Pistol, Shock CC Weapon, Knife. (0 | 34)
HIPPOLYTA Breaker Combi Rifle, Nanopulser, Flash Pulse, Eclipse Grenades / Pistol, EXP CC Weapon. (0 | 38)
SHUKRA (Chain of Command) Boarding Shotgun, Nanopulser / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 25)
    NETROD . (0 | 4)
    NETROD . (0 | 4)
    NETROD . (0 | 4)
    PROXY Mk.1 Engineer Combi Rifle, Nanopulser, D-Charges / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 10)
    YUDBOT Electric Pulse. (0 | 3)
    YUDBOT Electric Pulse. (0 | 3)
    PROXY Mk.5 (Forward Observer) 2 Submachine Guns, Nanopulser, E/M Grenades / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 10)
    PROXY Mk.2 MULTI Sniper Rifle, Nanopulser / Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 24)
DALETH Rebot Combi Rifle, Sniffer / Electric Pulse. (0 | 17)
PROBOT (Minesweeper, Repeater) Electric Pulse. (0 | 8)
PROBOT (Minesweeper, Repeater) Electric Pulse. (0 | 8)

    GROUP 2[IMG] [IMG] [IMG]5
DANAVAS Hacker (Hacking Device Plus. UPGRADE: Maestro) Combi Rifle + Pitcher / Breaker Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 25)
SHAKTI Lieutenant Hacker (Killer Hacking Device. UPGRADE: Sucker Punch) Mk12, E/Marat / Heavy Pistol, Knife. (0 | 40)
    ZAYIN Rebot HMG / Electric Pulse. (1 | 26)
LAMEDH Rebot Flash Pulse, Sniffer / Electric Pulse. (0 | 8)
LAMEDH Rebot Flash Pulse, Sniffer / Electric Pulse. (0 | 8)

    3 SWC | 299 Points

    Open in Infinity Army

I use the Zayin, Lamehds, and proxies as my ablative defense. It would probably be a good idea to drop an 8 point bot and a yudbot to fit in a Liberto minelayer, but it just doesn't feel like ALEPH to me so I usually don't.

I had a list with Hypolita, she was actually very useful.

I see 2 big problems tackling this mission.

    1 - Too random. My opponent got most easy doing or at least many objectives that came up at the right time and I had to struggle a lot, which takes me to second point;
2- many require you to move up close and personal, which mean forward deployment is really useful even though there is an exclusion zone. So a hacker in the back supports... but has a hard time doing an objective to an HVT.

Shakti is a great option. She's got forward deployment as a medium infantry. She's a hacker who is immune to isolation. She's also fast for a medium infantry.

Your opponent should be facing the same issues as you though. Deployment in this mission is really important and I think will take practice to get used to. If you deploy first, see if you can spot likely locations for your opponent to put the hvt. If you're deploying first, you're likely going first, so you can run a model up to synch with your hvt to pull it back into your deployment zone to make it harder for your opponent to accomplish those objectives.

So some use Hippolyta ? As said in another topic, i'm interested in user her in vanilla and i see her a bit like Penthesilea but easier to use (being S2 with smoke instead of fast S4). Any comment about her ?

In countermeasures hypolita can do a lot of objectives, almost half of them. She is more versatile then Penti because of smoke. She can reliably do indirect smoke also and superjump cuts corners.

it will consume orders... I guess its obvious she needs to take care of shock weapons and if you want to put someone unconscioues... use the knife... or the exp weapon will blow stuff up...

I had her for those cc objectives and the exp weapon was a problem but knife can be used... or no cc weapon?

Knife deals shock damage, so no (and i dont see a knife in her profile, not in vanilla Aleph at least). You could use her pistol in CC, but you can always use no weapon (PHY-2). Given her high PHY, she deals better damages bare handed than with her pistol :D
