    Hello bromads :3:

I’m really new to that marvellous game (1 real party behind me :flushed: ) and I’m going to my first tournament ever for Infinity. And it will be the French :flag-fr: Satellite which is held at the very beginning of October in Lyon France. :scream::cold_sweat::stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

The aim of that post is giving you the way I think to build my lists and get your feedback on it, because I don’t have much experience on the game and don’t know other factions as well.

    We play Limited Insertion. :muscle:
The 5 different scenarios and my analysis of them are :

      • Firefight :
Avoid having too many specialists (to give less points to the opponent). Bring havoc as much as possible targetting expensive troops (which I may kindly ask to my opponent, or I kill the biggest ones on the table lol). Play a Bandit for the Scavenger rule. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

      • Frontline
Bring one or 2 Salyut for the Bagage rule (maybe one Evo to help hacking) and run it at the very last round where it might be helpful to determine who is in control of the zone. Try to get some camo and 1 or 2 Airborn to deploy during last round. It will be the same list as for Firefight. I need a Liaison officer hidden until the end of the game to get 1 easy objective point, so the Bandit seems to be a good choice, doesn't he?:ok_hand:

      • Suppremacy
I need hackers and some destructive weapons against structures (anti-material) to destroy consoles after having hacked them, granting me 1 point and preventing the opponent to do it.

I need an Evo to reroll some hacking bad roll lol and Bagage rule. :yum:

      • Acquisition
I need hackers, doctors :face_with_head_bandage: and a liaison officer. And pieces to cover their advance to the central line (long range weapons and smokes and/or white noise) :facepunch:

      • Supplies
Same list as for Suppremacy and acquisition, I need doctors :face_with_head_bandage: and hackers :sunglasses: to extract boxes from Tech coffins, then a solid guy to hold them and bring them to safety with some smoke cover on the road to it. I don’t care of the journalist rule, that’s only on that scenario :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:. As for acquisition, I need pieces with good range and smokes.

With ITS11, I want to play a TAG and I just bought a Szalamandra (super cool model :3::8::4: ).
So here are my 2 lists.

So what are your opinion on my thoughts? On my lists ? Am I completely going the wrong way? What could be improved? What are the dangers I might deal with ? The threats I have to avoid in other factions or on those typical scenarios?

It's a lot a questions I know, but help a Noobmad please :raised_hand_with_fingers_splayed:

These are my ideas for some Nomad lists:

    SZALAMANDRA Hyper-rapid Magnetic Cannon, Heavy Flamethrower / . (2 | 90)

Here you have 9(+1) of your 10(+1) orders already usable. With Bran you have a potent tool to weed out some nasty key pieces and the Hellcat will be insanely annoying in Firefight if it walks onto the table from behind and starts gluing the opponent's multi wound troops.

    Lyon final 2
    ──────────────────────────────────────────────────

ARMAND (Multispectral Visor L1) MULTI Sniper, Nanopulser / 2 Breaker Pistols, Shock CC Weapon, Knife. (1.5 | 45)

KRIZA BORAC HMG / Heavy Pistol, CC Weapon. (2 | 54)
MORAN (Forward Observer) Combi Rifle, CrazyKoalas (2) / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 22)
PERSEUS (Super-Jump) Breaker Combi Rifle, Nanopulser, Smoke Grenades / 2 Pistols, DA CC Weapon. (0 | 34)

To my painful experience the Puppetbots are really effctive pieces to use, foremost because you can use them without the fear of losing orders if the die in your reactive turn. also Armand is IMO the best sniper Nomads can get, mainly because of his Symbiont Armour providing him with a second wound.

Thank you for your help.

I'm a bit disappointed... more than 120 views and you're the only kind person to give me some help :cold_sweat:

This game is really hard for a noob, so hard that even experienced players have difficulties to help in an easy way the beginners lol

It may not be that people are particularly unwilling to help, it's more that planning for such a long and auspicious event takes a lot of theorycrafting; something many people (myself included) cannot justify doing. =(

Still, since such a large part of the game is finding your own style of execution, I wish you the very best of luc kat the event (and huge props to my mate Tristan for tackling your request!)

General rule of thumb for list building across all factions is to build two lists that have the capabilities to deal with all the missions or particular matchups between them.
To do that, both need to have a good spread of tools, some units will cover multiple roles which is cool.
1)You need a couple of defenders in your DZ. Anything from TR bots to jaguars fits here but even the humble alguacile rifle on suppression fits too. They are there to discourage attackers and provide orders
    2) you need some specialists to do the missions, preferably order efficient ones with marker states and infiltration skills. Zero, bandit, spektr etc all fall in here
    3) big guns, try and use your swc, but at least 1-2 good attack pieces are advised. Preferably with different weapons. Pointless taking 4 hmgs because you'll often need an ML or sniper to solve a particular problem. Intruders, kriza, taskmasters etc fulfill this role amongst many other units.
    4) support. Make sure you've got a visor or two in your list, and smoke. Both are cheap enough in nomads and useful enough to grab in most lists. Smoke helps get objectives without AROs and enables msv2 troops to shoot better. Engineers and doctors help protect investment in troops and REMs. Having a healer and a repairman is useful, not vital for most lists.
    5) orders. Minimum of ten! Anywhere between 10-16 is good depending on list and format. Don't go too horde or you get stuck with dross when your limited elites go down

One thing that people don't bring up too often in these discussion is how familiar are you with the units in your lists? are those the sort of lists that you frequently run? If so, great! Knowing your units and what they can do in any given moment is probably far more important for your first few tournaments.

    Hello guys,

I really want to thank all of you who took time to answer me, either here on that very forum or by private messages or Messenger, etc. You're a really nice community, and every piece of advice given has been a rock staple to my list building for my 1st tournament ever.:raised_hands::facepunch:

As stated by DukeofEarl, I'm trying to play pieces I know a bit, but the counterpart is that they are very well-known from opponents. :scream:

Therefore I tried to focus on having quite the same pieces in my 2 lists so that I can learn more easily their profiles and specific rules, and also try to paint them all :3::8: :yum:

Here are the conclusions of my hard thinking and the brainstorming on it. I'm starting noting every rule on a papersheet and also making a summary of a "to do list / not to forget during an infinity party" to go to the tournament.

I understand it is hard to talk about lists with all of your comments, but just as you gave general tips and tricks, could you also give me some advice on what "not to forget" regarding those lists or general rules or other factions for a 1st tournament, please ?

Once again, thank you very much for the time you spend reading and helping me.:slightly_smiling_face:

Prowler + Intruder HMG is a good offensive duo. One can fight long range and eliminate ARO, the other can rambo the enemy DZ and kill is order.

Sin eater HMG is an insanely good too to make an enemy waste order.

Intruder lieutenant because you want at least one list with a not obvious lieutenant (even more with firefight)

Perseus, to smoke the intruder turn 1 then mop up the mid field turn 2/3

Puppetbot to act as defense with B2 ARO then do objectives

Some specialsit and a minelayer to cover your midfield

That right there is a huge help. Setting your initial battle plan ideas (who is first to try and do what, deployment goals, etc) on paper to remind yourself is a great way to stay focused in the moment. I always play better when I have something like that, even if only 3 bullet points per mission.

As for your lists as long as you stay focused on what you need/want to do with each unit and can have back up plans they look solid to me.

Theae look solid, a few personal preferences I have would mean I'd tweak a bit but the core is good, they'd work fine

    Hi guys,

Just a few words to say you thank you once again.

Last week-end was the French Merovingien Satellite, and I managed to win 2 games about 5. I played one list all along the week-end to become more familiar with the game mechanics and also my own list. This worked pretty good, 2 losses on 3 were really tight !

My 1st game was the hardest one... How do you deal with a Heavy grenade launcher on a squalo? I was second player, he played first and activated his squalo. No lof, he managed to hit my interventor hidden behind a big wall... and after one successful dodge, the other one I missed and die. He was -6 only...

Same game, he put a Kamau sniper on top of a column, seeing the whole table... I spent 4 orders with a szalamandra to try to kill him, and nothing happened... so sad...

What are your tricks to face those situations?

Speculative Fire on the Squalo is one of those things that just happens sometimes. It's a gimmick that when it works you can't do a whole lot about it. It's very board dependent so if you don't have buildings to hide in then you just have to hope he fails his rolls or you make yours. Just do your best to not bunch people up too much. If it helps there used to be many more profiles that could do this before so it's a lot less prevalent. Don't let it discourage you.

Kamau is another problem entirely. Sally should theoretically be able to take it down with 4 orders although the odds of nothing happening (34%) are pretty similar to the odds of you doing wounds (37%). You can use white noise to try and take out the other members of the fireteam first. Once you get one of the other members down the odds of your success go up quite a bit. Raoul can also slide in a bit closer and do some damage first if need be. You also have the only AD bot with FO/sensor if you want to do your own guided ML shenanigans to deal with that link.

Since you play generic nomads, run the Lizard heavy grenade launcher yourself and find out first hand how it works. What you'll discover is that it's really slow... he got lucky if he killed you in two orders. Just take heart and remember that the Kamau sniper you're struggling with also has 10 PH and 1 ARM so he'll die just as easy.

The meteor zond is a lot of fun and I highly recommend it. It's slow too, but it can be a very safe way to play.

Bran-do can take out a member or two of that team in CC if you can get the angles to work. That strips the +3BS bonus which makes the kamau easier to deal with. White noise is also good to stop the kamau's line of sight, if you can drop the team to less than 4 members they lose ssl2 and you can stack mods back on the kamau
