When you fire a direct template weapon like a chain rifle as an ARO do you have to center the template on the unit that generated the ARO or can you place it anywhere as long as the unit is under the template?

Example: A model is firing his chain rifle in response to a model declaring a move in his line of fire. the move does takes the model farther away from other enemy models but at the start of the move he responding model can place the large teardrop template so it hit three models but the model that moved would be at the very edge of the template.

Anywhere, you only have to touch the Active model.

Just remember that the template has to actually touch the main target when you declare the attack, otherwise the attack is immediately invalidated and automatically fails the DTW attack regardless of what your opponent does.
