Really happy CB is finally doing a hardboard scenery set for Infinity. I'm hoping we will see a version of the package that does not include the templates. I intend to buy several sets and don't need a template set each time. I would prefer extra goodies. Review and assembly :
Yeah, it'd be nice to have a tokenless set available, but I can see how that would complicate the logistics on their end too. I'm really happy with the scenery though, especially how each building has 4 unique designs available.
I think the templates and tokens are pretty well balanced to the scenery in the pack, even if you have 4 sets, that gives you a set of templates per player, and enough smoke markers to cover the Ariadnan Vaping convention with enough left over that you can cut a couple into sections to fit around and between buildings... Even taking that into account, the templates will be handled and dropped a lot more than the other bits, so they'll probably wear out faster.
Assembled my first kit today. Tight fit. No glue required. A few parts were not completely cut through. Used a hobby knife to remove them and avoid tearing off the print. Very happy with the result.
I want to add two points concerning the markers and tokens: The two rulers in the set are in “war game inches” (2.5cm to the inch, rather than 2.54 cm to the inch). And there are some slight but visible misalignments if you check the two inch rulers against each other (hold the 0 to the 8). But the CM sides line up great. The markers are all double sided, but about half to two thirds have different markers on each side. Some of the combinations don’t really seem to make sense, and have me trying to figure a good way to the cut the markers in half. For instance, one of the markers is Prone on one side and Targeted on the other side, and there are two markers that are Lieutenant on one side and Irregular on the other.
Question for those who build their Scenery Pack : how easy/hard is it to unbuild the pack once build ?
The big buildings are a bit hard to build the final part so i guess doing that procedure in reverse is gonna be a little difficult (and dangerous) as well.
Yeah, I'm not sure they'd stand up to repeated disassembly and reassembly. On the other hand they do stack inside each other very neatly.
Ok thanks. I hoped it could be unbuild. I already have a set of cardboard scenery from a small company and being able to disamble it reduce the space needed for storage a lot (I use the white box from the starter set to store my table and I can store 2 tables in 5 boxes).
Prone and Targeted are just both generally states that will not require a massive amount of use. As for the second... if you will forgive my somewhat cheeky remark... which token don't you need and which token do you suddenly have need of when you are in Loss of Lieutenant?
The problem with putting double sided markers like that is that you end up with fewer markers that are more difficult to find when you actually need them. For instance, those Regular Order on one side, Spawn Embryo on the other markers. So now the Shasvastii player has to make sure that they're discarding their order markers Spawn Embryo first, or they have to go searching through their order markers when one of their troopers goes unconscious. For that matter, now you run out of order markers for both players if you have embryos on the table. There are some situations where mixed side markers make sense, logistically, but they're generally a terrible idea.
This may be a problem more generally.... but considering the product they are packaged in I feel like it works in this case. The Shasvastii player has the perfect amount of Order/Spawn Embryo tokens in the package to play without ever having issues finding them, since those are their order tokens and the others basically belong to the O-12 player.
