The red or orange shoulder pads are really good addition. would be interesting if you went with the body color the same on all but everyone has different shoulder pad like a rank or specialist signature.

I prefer the first one, personally (all purple).

Varying shoulder pads has potential; I'd just need to come up with a consistent schema.

This reminds me of Lex Luthor from DC comics.

How did you make or get those plants on your bases? They look great and really set the scene.

I'm very certain that's Games Workshop's "Barbed Bracken" (to which I'm not allowed to link due to forum rules, but you should be able to find it easily with ye ol' Google)

It seems to be that indeed. If I find some at a good price it might be worth procuring some for forest/jungle bases.

Yeah it is, combined with gw texture paints. Tbh the barbed back and the ivy are quite worth the price because unlike most gw kits you get a lot for what you pay for.

The REM in the tall grass looks like they're hunting their prey, like some lions, I really like the render. Great army you have here!

And that Zhanshi sniper is definitely a Zuyong covered with skin over the armor for beeing that big, wow...

Those are my lads in power armor ( a bit damaged sadly, gotta work on that):

I want to stick to ocher colors for my Invincibles, because they're terracotta soldiers and all that.

I like that difference in size. Gives the model some extra character. A giant among smaller men.

You are definitely not the only one here, to say the least.

...to my dismay, because it looks a bit too "poisonous" to me, especially when tone is bright enough.

Sort of an alternate scheme, but also not really. Opted to paint my Mowang in more traditional YJ/IA colours, instead of the default paradiso scheme, since I felt that pattern in particular didn't fit quite right with the rest of the aesthetic. I also gave him a white helmet so that he'll be included in White Banner.

    Huh.
Ya Yu Jing players do give a vibe of Yu Jing playerbase being the most unified with all your interesting conversations from cloth patches to regional unit colorizations.
Thumbs up for ya to that!

I am in the middle of painting my IA (amongst other things) but I am stuck.

Their background was inspired by the fight for Chenglin during the 3rd offensive: this group formed a shelter for the civilians they were protecting in the government buildings, now in ruin by the detonation of the Aleph's node.

During the siege they developed an intense hatred towards the Shas because, as they launched expeditions around the city searching for survivors (as well as supply), sometimes there were infiltrators amongst the refugees they brought back that manage to spread fear and disorder as well as performing sabotages. By the end the IS present became quite adept at finding and root out these infiltrators, proper Shas hunters.

Because of the constant fighting, their armour became covered with dust from the marble of the governmental buildings, giving them a somewhat spectral appearance that led them seeing themselves as ghosts (thanks to the fact that most of the explorations were undertaken at night) and/or dead men(a fight or die with no option for retreat scenario because right behind them were the unarmed civvies with no escape possible) amongst the living.

When they finally were rescued, they were praised by the Emperor as an example of YJ soldiers and gave them a chance to exact revenge upon the aliens: a CA hunter killer division dispatched wherever and whenever the Human Sphere suffered from the incursion of the aliens, all under the supervision of a Dragon Lady.

To keep things short, their armour is light-grey(GW's Administratum Grey to be precise) tending white, black cable suit, dark-grey calf/2nd armour and dark green/petrol/jade fatigue/suits

To break the monotony of the greys, and to make them easely recognizable on the table as YJ, I applyed a single vertical yellow stripe running down the shoulders to the hands, on the helmet, back(along the column) and the front of the legs(this also reflects that they now fight under Imperial authority -> the banners that defended the Prohibited city during the Qin were the yellow, white and yellow trimmed).

NB the yellow locations of the stripes are at the moment under review because I have a problem on where to place them on the thigh since there is the holsters for the pistols that are in the way

Also the "white" was because of the west/metal/white tiger that in chinese astrology is my element...

In short, it turned out quite similar to the SW's phase-1 clone commander armour

With these informations in mind, and with an eventual Hac Tao painted black with white helmet, how would you paint the Hulang?

The helmet and the "scarf" are my chief problems

thank you everybody in advance for your suggestions and sorry if it is a bit long
