I admittedly haven't used him lately in my MO lists. Primarily because he conflicts with the role of Hospitallers in my lists. I mainly use Hospitaller Knights in a Haris team. This usually consists of a Haris profile, Doctor Combi, and Hospitaller HMG.

You could make an argument to have De Fersen replace either the Doctor or the HMG in this situation. The only issue is the reduced range of the Spitfire in comparison to the HMG, or the loss of a Doctor specialist.

De Fersen is kind of in a weird place right now. If I want a specialist knight with a high burst weapon, I'd rather take the Santiago Spitfire. What I will say is that the addition of the Santiago KHD w/ tinbot makes his hacking attacks way more viable. Sticking him in a 5man link gives him 6th sense as well, which can come in handy.

If I were to run De Fersen, it would probably be in a crusade fireteam consisting of a Hospitaller HMG, De Fersen, a Santiago KHD w/ tinbot, and probably two Hospitaller BSGs. It's a lot of points in one team, but it could be really powerful in a Limited Insertion tournament where you can expect some beefy targets across the table to target with your AHD.

I've never found him particularly interesting to be honest - I think he has two major issues: If you're running him solo, then for the same price you could instead take a CoC Sepulcher Kight with a Spitfire, or a Santiago specialist operative, both of which preform the role of specialist with a spitfire a bit better in my eyes (the Sepulcher by having holoprojector, and access to the oh-so-coveted CoC, Santiago by having EM grenades and D-charges, and both of them by being immune to killer hackers); If you're planning on linking him, his only option is joining a Hospitaller team, where he has to compete with a Hospitsaller HMG for the 'big gun' position, his specialist ability is not so useful because you're probably running a hospitaller doctor anyway, and potentially a santiago KHD as well.

All that being said, I play in a meta with low usage of TAGs and managable useage of HI. If you find that you need an AHD in your lists, you can't do much better than De Fersen getting SSL2 from his link, plus KHD and deflector cover from a santiago buddy.

EDIT: Aaand Thanan basically posted the same thing as me but faster, lol.

With lack of Frenzy on top of the Ability to hold his own against Hacking in the Active turn, useable CC and an AHD to provide a pretty astonishing amount of attack vectors he still is pretty expensive.

Vanilla seems to be the place for him if anywhere. You'll usually want a better Active turn piece than an unlinked, MODless BS14 Spitfire.
He got a bit more deadly through the exploits the Stealth FAQ enables and he is one of the PanO Lts that most benefit from the Bolt CoC's existence. Not sure about him at all - but he deserves some looking into together with all the cheap support troops Vanilla can compliment his kit with.
He can keep up with neither a Deva AHD nor Joan V2 in their respecive areas, but he has like 85% of their performance in a single (expensive and somewhat vulnerable) package.

Haven't tried him in MO yet but in Vanilla, he is more than good. Adding what a EVO can give to him, he is excellent for scenarios like Unmasking where he can basically do the most part of the scoring alone. If you support him well and bring good second guns, he really will give you back your money. AP+Shock might seem underwhelming but it is in fact really effective against 1W troopers if you don't want to be stuck with unconscious/spawn embryo guys everywhere. Lack of frenzy is in fact pretty useful because you don't want to see a guy this expensive losing cover bonuses after turn 1 (because yes, he will be active since turn 1).

Not an easy piece to use all the time but really, he is good in Vanilla (I have to find out how to field him well in MO yet).

That looks alright, yeah. It might kinda sting having all your attack pieces concentrated in one link team - I'd probably consider this instead:

    Military Orders
    ──────────────────────────────────────────────────

    [IMG]10
DE FERSEN Lieutenant Spitfire / Pistol, Templar CCW (AP + Shock). (2 | 56)
KNIGHT HOSPITALLER HMG / Pistol, DA CCW. (2 | 39)
KNIGHT HOSPITALLER Doctor (MediKit) Combi Rifle / Pistol, DA CCW. (0 | 35)
ORDER SERGEANT Paramedic (MediKit) Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 15)
KNIGHT OF SANTIAGO Hacker (Killer Hacking Device) Combi Rifle, Nanopulser, D-Charges + 1 TinBot A (Deflector L1) / Pistol, DA CCW. (0 | 38)
SPEC. SERGEANT (CH: TO Camouflage, Infiltration, Forward Observer) Combi Rifle, Antipersonnel Mines / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 27)
    MACHINIST (Father-Engineer) Combi Rifle, D-Charges / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 15)
    PALBOT Electric Pulse. (0 | 3)
    PALBOT Electric Pulse. (0 | 3)
PATHFINDER DRONBOT Combi Rifle, Sniffer / Electric Pulse. (0 | 16)
    SIERRA DRONBOT HMG / Electric Pulse. (1 | 25)
    PEACEMAKER Spitfire + AUXBOT_3 / Electric Pulse. (1 | 27)
    [IMG] AUXBOT_3 Heavy Flamethrower / Electric Pulse. (- | 4)

    6 SWC | 299 Points

    Open in Infinity Army

Replacing the boarding shotgun knight with an OS and the Magsiter ML with a Sierra gets you the points to run a peacemaker spitfire, which'll then give you better fighting capability in the midline and allow you to attack from more angles.

Not to mention that this new list gives you two repeaters to extend De Fersen's hacking influence!

Wasn't even considering that but, yeah, that's pretty big - especially when one of those repeaters has a 6 inch move and starts halfway up the field.

DeFerson is a victim of killer hacking in N3. Its possibly because of how my primary opponents are JSA and Yu Jing, but hes just destined to get his brain creamed by a KHD. It's just way too easy to nuke that wip 14 down into irrelevance. Once you hit a 50/50 chance of even throwing up a success, its harrowing. And you need to throw carbonite to keep your odds reasonable or get driven down to an 8. And that's just a standard KHD popping out of marker state with redrum. You start adding in things like maestro and lightning and you can forget it, the gap just gets worse. If you want strong killer hackers in vanilla to help keep this in check, you're trading valuable opportunities with the hexa and Zulu.

Being a BS14 spitfire is nice and being a wip 14 specialist is nice and having hacking capabilities is nice and having some melee capabilities is nice and being heavy infantry is nice. It's a problem of piling them all onto one model that doesn't sus out well. It inflates the cost and generates weaknesses.

Personal experience, I've always had absolutely terrible luck with him. Hes failed hacking attempts and button pushing regularly, I've had him burn to death from a single flamethrower hit at a tournament, botching easy face to face rolls and a few weeks ago, he got double crit by redrum and took a permanent dirt nap.
